The service I received from Rutt's Catering was OUTSTANDING. My colleague and I were so impressed with it ALL: Quality (everyone raved about the food--the best we've served them!), temperature (the food was PIPING hot...so hot that we needed mitts to uncover the food), portion (while it didn't look like enough, it was PLENTY), speed of service and promptness (we arrived 10 minutes earlier than our stated pick up time for the 1st order and the last of the order was being packed...we left exactly at the requested pick up time...but even MORE impressive was the food delivery to Malibu for the 2nd order was ALSO on time...was actually 10 minutes early--this has never happened before!), accuracy and packaging of order (everything was labeled clearly, packaged perfectly and nothing was wrong), and EVERYTHING in between (Paul was easy to work with when placing the order...even had a few changes and it wasn't an issue...they even provide name tents/food labels). The booking process was easy, and Alba was always quick to answer all of my questions, which I really appreciated. Our taco man arrived ahead of schedule, was very nice, worked efficiently, and the presentation looked great. He also gave me clear instructions about when he would call for the final round and reminded me to have containers ready for leftovers, which we did. I appreciated how organized and professional that part of the experience was. Unfortunately, there were a couple things this time that really didn't sit well with me. As the host of a party, I'm constantly moving around and making sure everything is running smoothly. As he was getting ready to leave, he asked me about a tip. I had every intention of tipping, but being asked directly felt uncomfortable and a little awkward. Then asked about the final payment. I told him I would send the payment through Zelle, he left--but came back shortly after to ask if I had sent it yet. I was still in the middle of hosting and hadn't had a chance to do it. It put me in an uncomfortable position, and my guests even started noticing and wondering what was going on. He apologized several times and explained it was the owner's policy, and I understand he may have been following instructions, but I ended up having to stop what I was doing during the party to send payment immediately. Afterward I checked the invoice and saw final payment was due the day of the event, which I completely understand. I just would have much preferred payment to be collected upfront upon arrival rather than being stopped during hosting while trying to manage guests. She got to work. Set up EVERYTHING with ease. She respected and listed to my request. It was my beauty salon anniversary celebration. Therefore the public was around. We had wristbands, only those with wristbands should be served. She did just that. My son arrived, he went to get a couple tacos. He came back inside to me, "mom, I need a wristband." Everyone laughed, I gave him one then introduced my son. She apologized, I immediately smiled and laughed then told her, no apology necessary. We gave her cake. She laughed and danced a little. She enjoyed us and we enjoyed and appreciated her. The food!!!! The display!!!! The presentation!!! Everyone came to me complimenting the food as if I prepared it . She cleaned up and gave us EVERY LEFTOVER food and drinks there were. I can't speak enough about Maribel. I called and text Rafael several times. At no point did he make me feel as if I was a bother.
