I love One Key Yoga! Having a fulfilling and enlightening experience comes from an experienced and personable instructor. Gina Fitzpatrick has created a wonderful space in the heart of Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood and fills it with her charming positivity and expansive knowledge. I am a very active person, but suffered a stroke a year ago that left me with some minor issues on my left side. I also have some stiffness in my hips that makes some poses difficult for me to do correctly. My issues finally motivated me to take up yoga to heal my body and become more mindful. Gina took the time to find out more about my concerns as well as others in the class in order to tailor the session to everyone's benefit. She incorporated special movements and poses that helped me avoid strain and discomfort, as my left side has not yet returned to full strength. I was really surprised how much she knew about neuropathy associated with strokes. The space itself is lovely and calming. There is a modern aesthetic that includes bamboo flooring, lavender walls, and sliding track doors that let in natural light while buffering noise. It's neat, clean, and well organized. I am so glad I took the time to come to One Key Yoga. You won't find a more passionate and delightful yogini than Gina! read more

One Key Yoga is a fabulous place to practice yoga. The studio is very relaxing and tastefully decorated. Gina, the studio owner and one of the instructors, is incredibly thoughtful and inspirational. I moved to Chicago in the fall of 2015 and signed up for a beginner yoga course offered each Sunday afternoon over the course of several weeks. I really learned a lot about the art and practice of yoga, proper posture, basic poses and equipment. The studio offers walk-in classes by packages. I love the noon-time yoga as a break from working at home. If you don't have your own equipment or prefer not to schlep they offer everything you will need. Although my winter/spring travel schedule has not been conducive to regular attendance, I am very much looking forward to making One Key yoga a part of my routine! I highly recommend One Key and Gina if you are looking for a very relaxing experience and instructive experience. read more

I've been taking Restorative Yoga on Sundays with Patrick for at least 6 sessions now and I can't say enough good things about this class and Patrick. He is a wonderful instructor, I love his explanation at the start of class, during poses, etc. I've seen great improvements since taking this class; I get the best nights sleep on Sunday nights, feel less stressed and negative throughout the week when things get tough at work and truly feel like Patrick and this class have helped establish this. read more

I've done yoga at many studios in Chicago. I found One Key Yoga through ClassPass and immediately knew it was in my top three favorite yoga studios. Their 75 minute classes are perfect for getting your weekends going. However, the true winner of One Key is Patrick's Sunday Restorative class. Restorative Yoga is one of my personal favorites because I do high-intensity workouts and sit at a desk for work. I have found it really difficult to find a great restorative instructor unlike Vinyasa, where I have found a handful of great ones. But Patrick is a game-changer, he's attentive, he'll make minor adjustments (with your permission), and the overall flow of his class is seamless. I ended up buying a 10 class deal with them this year and tend to use each one for Patrick's Sunday Restorative, it's truly amazing. I've even passed the recommendation along to a few friends who are going to be giving it a try in the upcoming weeks. Also, the studio is very clean and beyond welcoming. What a dissapointing experience with this business. I purchased a 10 class card via Groupon in January of this year (2018). I made it to 2 classes, which I did enjoy, before learning I was newly pregnant & then quickly becoming very ill for the next 2 trimesters (about 6 months). Nausea, throwing up often, food avesion...unable to keep up with much in life, much less yoga class. Finally, at the end of my 3rd trimester, I feel up to making maybe a class or two before delivery. I call & leave a voice message last week, to inquire if any kind of exception could be made on the 120 day expiration, no response. I call again today & speak with the owner, who basically acknowledges having heard my message but says nothing about her lack of response. When I share why I was not able to return all this time, she shows little understanding/empathy for pregnancy complications and say, "Well, Iit has been 8 months." Yeah, no kidding lady, fyi- pregnancy is 9 months. Then she proceeds to go on & on about how her studio only got $25 of the $49 I paid for the Groupon deal so I already got my "money's worth." 1) My concern, as a customer, is not what your studio received from Groupon, it's what I paid for the Groupon deal ($49). 2) If it's not worth it to your studio to use Groupon, then don't. But don't vent to customers about it. 3) I essentially paid $49 for 2 classes, when your highest price is $18 per class ($36 total for 2). So, no, I did NOT get my "money's worth." I wasn't even asking to use all the remaining 8 classes, was just hoping I could maybe make it to one or two before delivery, now that I finally feel somewhat up to it again. But I guess not...apparently even that would be too much for her to keep a customer happy. read more

I just had the most amazing and relaxing yoga class this Sunday at the "beginner yoga class" at 1pm with Eileen. I have always been skeptical about if I would enjoy yoga. I found a Groupon online and thought I would just give it a go. I loved how the instructor Eileen teaches and makes me feel totally relaxed even when I mix up what I'm doing. I started coming to Gina's classes about a month ago, after telling a friend how much I wished there was a yoga studio in my neighborhood- and viola!- One Key Yoga opened up just five blocks from my house, and is more than I could have hoped for! Gina is an exceptional teacher: generous, intuitive, knowledgable, and very personable. Before she starts each class she always asks what we would like to focus on. I'm always impressed by how Gina sequences her classes, and her ability to mold each class to our individual needs. I've taken both her stretchy yoga (more floor based twists) and vinyasa flow classes, and always come away feeling more grounded and joyful than when I walked in. The studio itself is beautiful- conveniently located off the Damen Brown line- it is open, clean, and has a cute front room to drink tea and socialize after class. I have been practicing yoga since I was in college (with varying levels of consistency!) and after a long hiatus from my mat, Gina and One Key have immediately become one of my favorite teacher/studios ever. It is small and welcoming - Gina learns your name and finds out what your experience and goals are for practice. The class was perfectly balanced between restorative floor poses, active/moving poses and, of course, restful shavasana. Prices are great. The space is clean and beautiful. I can't stop telling all my friends about the Play Group yoga for moms and their babes! I was a little nervous about making mom friends(harder than meeting my husband), walking into a class where I wouldn't know anyone, all while being waaaayyyy out of yoga practice. I quickly lost any anxiety as soon as I stepped in. Eileen was quick to greet me, introduce herself and darling son, and welcome us to our mat. First I just want to say that Gina, the owner and one of the instructors, is a delightful person. She has a sweet and warm spirit. I am fairly new to yoga and I was hesitant about trying it. I had tried it a couple times, but I just mimicked people's poses in the classes. I had no clue what I was doing. I told Gina that I was new and after taking one of her classes she suggested that I take the beginners 101 class on Sundays. That class has really helped me learn the basics about yoga and I am so glad that I had taken the class. The instructor was Vannia and she was awesome. She is such a patient and fun teacher. Every week I would look forward to my class with her. I learned so much from her and I learned to appreciate yoga. Before taking the class I thought I had to be very skillful to practice yoga, but Vannia reinforced that taking yoga is a journey and you don't have to master each pose to practice yoga. You can do the poses that you can do and eventually you will be able to do more. Vannia helped me want to look more into taking classes and learning more about yoga. The class was never dull and no class was ever the same. I am so excited that I have a great yoga studio near me that offers array of classes and workshops. read more

This new studio has a lot going for it! First is the friendly atmosphere created by the owner, Gina Fitzpatrick, who also teaches many of the classes. She is warm and welcoming without over-doing it. The reception area has two comfy chairs and a small round table where yogis can seat and share a cup of tea and chat after a class. The studio area itself is wide at the beginning and narrows at the half-way point. It is open to the reception area, but a pair of handsome wooden room dividers close it off when a class begins. As far as the classes go, I have taken several different types, and enjoyed them all. I hate working too hard, and always tell myself at the beginning of a class that I am only going to do what I feel like doing as far as the different poses go. Yet, Gina always manages to lead the class in such a way that I end up doing everything and feeling great afterwards. To me, that is the mark of a skillful teacher! One Key also offers some intriguing workshops. Currently, there is a Zen restorative class I would love to try, and a balance core yoga class that takes place on something called an 'indo board.' What is that about? Finally, there is the transportation situation. One Key is located on N. Damen, between Lawrence and Ainslie. There is a Brown line train stop nearby, but I drive. There is metered parking right outside the studio door, but I am usually lucky enough to find free parking on the surrounding side streets. I stopped by the One Key Yoga studio Wednesday after work and had a fantastic session with Gina! The studio is well-situated right off Damen, near the Brown Line stop. The interior was clean and simple, with nice decor and a cozy feel. Gina led us through a vinyasa flow, and since it was a small group, she was extremely helpful in correcting alignment and targeting areas I had mentioned were tough spots for me. I was blown away by how beautiful, warm, and welcoming One Key Yoga was. I dropped in on the Thursday evening Vinyasa class led by owner Gina. The class was accessible but still challenging, and Gina's teaching style is organic and nurturing. I was also lucky enough to stumble in on an evening when there was a healthy crowd of other experienced, friendly yogis in the room. Gina encouraged the class to get to know each other before the practice started (what a refreshing change! Imagine knowing the name of the person you keep accidentally bumping into throughout class!), and I couldn't get over what a warm and friendly space this was. I even ended up staying late with Gina and the rest of the students, talking, getting to know each other, trying out new poses, and just having a blast.
