We came to Grand Rapids in search of some amazing food and One Bourbon did not disappoint. First walking in we were greeted with kind smiles and great customer service. Our shareable we picked out was the hot cheese dish. Our entrees included the bourbon poutine and 1b burger. The burger was full of flavor! Highly recommend! The poutine was a fan favorite of my husbands but beware if you don't like peppered gravy then this isn't your dish. Megan one of the owners was super sweet and talked to us for a few minutes to get out opinions. We can't thank her enough for her hospitality! read more

First time at One Bourbon and it was an excellent experience. We had great drinks & food-- the peanut butter pie is amazing! We had the privilege of listening to Teddy Brewer sing and play acoustic outside on the beautiful patio. Lastly, the service was great and they had this amazing mirror in the women's bathroom. Came to Grand Rapids for a business trip. Was looking for some place local to have dinner/drinks. The Ambiance and atmosphere was epic! One of those speak easy kind of vibes with more bourbon's and whiskey options than 1 could dream of. I personally have a gluten allergy, and was torn between the pork hop and the ribeye. Ultimately I went for the ribeye, and OMG, it just melts in your mouth! The ribeye was so delicious, I forgot to take a picture of it, lol. Beyond the Ambiance, and the food...I have to commend the wait staff on amazing service! The service was that of what you'd expect from a place that charges $40+ per oz. on steaks...not a place that charges $40 per steak! Our waiter was Cody and the guy at the bar while we waited for a table was Dustin. Dustin took the time to verify the bourbon he made my old fashioned with was certified gluten free, and not just distilled to be gluten free! This is a great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. I had the bourbon burger which had so much flavor, highly recommend. My brother had the Nashville grilled chicken and said that it would be a basic meal without the gravy, it made his meal!! My mom had the Westside best side salad and hated it. Said no flavor. Very highly recommend. The cocktail flight was incredible ... same with Apple Whiskey Sour. Delicious food ... fun environment (was a little lout with a few groups) but nothing terrible. I love this place. The cocktails and food are great! But what really gives this place an extra sparkle in my eye is the music they play. It's bangers we all know and love and it REALLY sets this restaurant & bar apart from others in GR that also have a good food and cocktail scene. The music isn't pretentious nor is it some indie underground noise that no one knows. It's versatile by generation and genre, playing all of the best songs. I find that it makes an experience like bourbon tasting, which can be so pretentious, a more down to earth, relaxed and fun environment. read more

Contrary to their name, their menu has considerably more than one option for Bourbon. In fact they have so many options it's easy to get lost in endless possibilities. On a cold October evening during COVID we came here with some friends. I'm typically a scotch drinker, but settle for Bourbon on occasion. I was recommended one from their selection and it did not disappoint. It was so pleasing to have the warmth of the Bourbon while we sat outside. We feasted on a smorgasbord of appetizers, of which each were average to above average. It's not unfair to say that the company was better than the food. I would certainly come back, it's somewhat of a novelty to have so many whiskey/Bourbon/scotch options. Maybe a drink or two with an old friend. Or a cocktail after dinner. But I don't think I'm going to set out for much more than that. read more

Update: Went back to 1B for my birthday weekend. I cannot say enough about how hospitable the staff is at One Bourbon. I had a decent sized group that I requested outdoor seating for...and Meagan and her staff made sure we were all well attended to. Not to mention, I asked Meagan to recommend a bourbon for me for my evening and it was amazing. The BBQ poutine was phenomenal. The attention to detail at One Bourbon is rare hence why I've changed my rating from four stars to five. I've been wanting to visit this place for awhile. Their selection of bourbon is extensive. I can see how it could be intimidating for more novice bourbon drinkers. But their staff is incredibly helpful when it comes to helping others decide on what to order based off their preferences. The menu is a mix of southern and comfort food. I'm a big fan of their shrimp and grits. I'll definitely be back. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at One Bourbon tonight. The service was very friendly from the hostess to the waitress and manager/co-owner. We had a pretty early dinner which helped us get seated quickly and it was actually happy hour, to our surprise. We started with the Georgia Egg Rolls which we loved. The rice/beans added a great texture to the egg roll while the garlic aioli was the perfect dipping sauce. I ordered the turkey reuben and my wife ordered the fried chicken. The entrees are large and we ended up taking a box home with leftover chicken and our combined leftover fries. The turkey reuben was fantastic and easily one of the best I've ever had. The cole slaw was a little runny which made the bread start to get soggy to the end but it wasn't horrible. My wife enjoyed the chicken and she asked for the Nashville hot sauce on the side, which was smart because it definitely had a kick. Overall, this place has a cool atmosphere/vibe to it and the design of the restaurant is awesome. The old exposed brick and local touches hanging on the walls were perfect. The co-owner stopped by our table multiple times to check on our drinks, appetizers, and finally the entrees. We will definitely be back! read more

The Owner of OneBourbon is fabulous, waitstaff is fabulous and and I absolutely loved the drinks. Best Whiskey sour I've ever had, we waited quite a long time for our table (Saturday night) and I tried the fish soup which wasn't the best. But you can tell the staff puts so much love into this place, and I am happy it's on this side of town. I will be visiting again! read more

History

Established in 2016.

One Bourbon opened their doors on April 4th, 2017. Started by two couples from West MI (two of them Chefs), 1B is about comfort, friends, and family. Classic comfort food, large portions, and reasonable prices paired with handcrafted, spirit-forward cocktails. Over 400 different types of whiskey and bourbon plus all of your favorite spirits, beer (all local), and wine. Treated like family, come on in to an unpretentious environment where we expect you'll meet new friends and gather with old.

Meet the Business Owner: Meagan F.

In 2022, after the mess that is Covid, Meagan bought out George and Meg to become a majority female-owned business. Meagan is the mind behind all of this craziness and HBIC (ha). She runs the front of the house and is frequently seen slinging drinks behind the bar or up at the host stand, saying hello. Plus, on any given night, she is throwing down pans in the back of the house, cooking for the masses. We are excited to bring you new menus, expand on our already impressive bourbon/whiskey collection. Our cocktail program continues to wow guests with creative house-made ingredients and we are super thrilled to continue serving you fun, exciting menu items. Our server mentioned that he had worked at the restaurant for quite some time, but he didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and wasn't able to answer questions confidently. He was also not very attentive, and we often had to wait longer than expected for check-ins. Our food came out quickly but the wine always took quite a while to come to the table. The food itself was good, but when you're paying fine-dining prices, you expect the entire experience--including the atmosphere and service--to match. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues because it has the potential to provide a much better dining experience. Also, I would skip the sea bass entree. I was not really impressed with it and wished that I had ordered a pasta dish. However the server helped me decide and chose the sea bass. I loved the atmosphere. I loved the decor. I loved the wine and appetizers. But everything else just did not impress me. Not for the amount of money we dropped on this meal. I doubt I will return.

Came here for a business meeting the other day, party of 4. Sat in the back open area, it was a very nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and courteous. I'm not a hard liquor guy but they had a lot of good craft beers on tap. Ordered the fries, cheese curds and deviled eggs as apps, they were served fast and were good. One Bourbon is not what it used to be. Expect terrible service, poor quality food and an empty atmosphere. Even on a Saturday night, there wasn't a single person at the bar. This speaks volumes about how others feel about One Bourbon. They've gone downhill. Avoid One Bourbon if you want a positive experience. There are too many other great places to go. Came here for my son's medical school graduation celebration. They were so wonderful! Our server Kenny was the best. He knew where the walleye were from. The bread is substantial enough to hold the copious amounts of au jus I dip it in without falling apart. Yet, it is not too heavy to overshadow the meat. I order this just about every time I go here. This time however, they had Korean fried chicken tacos as a special. My wife made me order it because she knows if I didn't, I'd be complaining all the way home. This item should become a regular. Wonderfully flavored chicken with Korean sauces and spices and vegetables in a usual taco set up, My wife became enamored with the Mediterranean salad which she says is the closest thing she's been able to find that resembles what she craves from Greece and Italy. She added chicken which was a generous portion so I sampled some and it was excellent. While waiting for lunch to arrive, I looked at the drink menu, specifically bourbons. Holiday has a impressive list and I was surprised to find even the hard to get, allocated bourbons were in stock and "reasonably" priced. We really have to put this restaurant much higher up in our thought process.

Each of them ordered and got their meal before I did, although I had ordered at least 15 minutes before any of them entered. The waitress chatted up the guys at the bar, but didn't say more than 2 words to me. My 'Broadway Burger' was good, but nothing spectacular. I've had the Olive Burger before and I think I prefer that. This place is probably great for the regulars, but you're not one of that crowd, it's definitely not worth the 'Children of the Corn' treatment.
