I forget to check in when I'm on a mission. My daughter-in-law introduced me to Once Upon a Child when she was first pregnant in 2021. I have shopped here for both grands ever since. The Syracuse, NY location is bigger than the one in Concord, North Carolina. They moved and we have been to that one to trade in and shop as well. Syracuse is very organized, well stocked, with plenty of variety from newborn up. Prices are very reasonable and they have special price days for specific items. There are plenty of friendly, helpful staff to assist in locating what you are looking for. Lightly used clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, and more. I still shop here and ship to them. I love the concept of this store and visited once to buy and once to sell. Each time, my experience was not that great because of poor customer service - there were four or five people working behind or near the counter, and none of them greeted or acknowledged me and carried on with their personal conversations amongst each other or ignored me to continue sorting through clothing and such. As a seller, I left with what I can only describe as a bad feeling. I brought in six bags full of clothing and a pack n play. After a few hours, I was alerted that they were ready to settle up. When I returned to the store, one of the workers brought out a bin with a small stack of my clothing and told me their offer. This person then explained why they weren't taking more of my items, but it seemed as if they were reading from a script and I felt like I was being lectured to because of the tone that was used. The pack n play was taken out of its bag and not packed back up properly. I should add that I went to the store with my baby in a stroller. I struggled to grab all 6 bags, the pack n play, and wheel the stroller out of the store and all the employees just watched me. No one even offered to open the door for me. read more

Friendly staff and lots of amazing finds! Huge variety of clothing, books, and toys for children. It's a little bit of a drive from where I am, but worth it! They also buy children's toys, books, clothes, furniture, etc. (as long as it's in good condition) which then goes towards a discount on your purchase. Always pleased whenever I go! read more

Great discount consignment shop for a little babies on a budget they give military discounts and if you sign up I believe you get a free bathing suit for a newborn and my baby bouncer or jumper they called it was cheaper than it was on Amazon or I should say my grandbaby had a wonderful time I'll be back to save money read more

I was shocked to see the negative reviews of this place and I can't comment on bringing clothes here to sell, which seems to be where the negativity is coming from. But! I can comment on buying items here and for that I have to give them five stars. Amazing selection of EVERYTHING, lots of items with tags, and I feel like everytime I expect something to be higher priced (like maybe $10?) it's always well below that. The cost of baby/child clothing in stores can be crazy, and this store is a lifesaver particularly for items they might wear once or twice. I have found a few nice toy items as well, and I am frequently receiving text offers for coupons. This place is an absolute lifesaver for me. read more

You cannot beat this place! The staff is amazing and their prices are fantastic. I was shocked when the sales associate told me they could offer me $96 for my kids clothes. Mostly stuff I got as gifts. My daughter really needed to use the restroom and the associate stepped away from a giant line to help me. I love shopping here and I love that they are family oriented. Great place to find kids items at such a low cost! I've sold my oldest child's items here for a few years now and once you're familiar with their buying process it's very easy to understand. I've seen lots of reviews commenting negatively on their buying process but I've never had any issues with staff or the store in general. I spent $150 on a swing, bouncer, and multiple outfits for my newborn, when I would have spent more than that buying just one item new. I love this store! read more

Once upon a child Syracuse is such a fantastic place to shop. From the great and friendly staff, large selection and variety of clothes for kids of all sizes, and a price you can't beat-- I wouldn't want to shop anywhere else! Their employees are so helpful and even have helped hand select seasonal wardrobes for my child. This has saved me so much time. I have given them a few guidelines and let them go wild. They truly have found some of my favorite pieces for my daughter. This store has been especially helpful with the shortages going on. I haven't been able to get 2t leggings anywhere for my daughter and OUAC Syracuse is always coming in clutch! Keep up the great work everyone! People leaving 1 star reviews obviously don't understand the concept of this store. They are mad they were only offered $30 for a bag of like new clothing, then also angry that gently used/like new clothes were priced the way they were. This is a used clothing store. Not Tjmaxx or Walmart. They can't pay you a ton of money for your stuff because they need to turn around and sell it for a reduced rate. They also have to pay rent and pay for employees. If this bothers you, sell on Facebook marketplace or don't sell at all. You are paying for the convenience of someone else doing the work for you when you drop off clothing here. That being said, this store is exactly what it should be. Gently used children's items at a fraction of the cost. They have nice brands here, not cheap Walmart clothing. All the people complaining simply do not understand the concept. The store is clean and everything is organized. Instead of paying $39.95 for a warm baby Gap vest you can snag one here for $8. Sometimes their items still have the tag on so they are pretty much brand new. This is a great place to get quality children's items at a fraction of the cost. Today was my second visit to this place. The first visit proved to be worth my time. This visit has made me never want to go back. I had some shoes, barely used toys and quite a few articles of clothing, some never worn, all totally probably over $200. Was offered $30. I wasn't expecting to become rich off of my drop offs but I thought $30 was ridiculous. I did buy a few things that I discovered I needed since cleaning out then I thought about it, I could get the same stuff, BRAND NEW for a lot cheaper at Walmart. Everything related to kids is outgrown in the blink of an eye. Before you know it, you've got a bunch of clothes, toys, books, etc that are now unusable. At the same time, you're also facing a need for that same stuff but for the next stage of your baby or toddler's life. You've got a real one-stop-shop here at Once Upon A Child. Get some money back for the stuff you won't be using any more, and pick up the stuff you need at incredibly reasonable prices. It's a real win win. I was a loyal customer since my daughter was born but sadly, I will not ever be returning. I am a single mother who depended on businesses like this to keep my child in clothes she prefers. I was told I couldn't sell my clothes because of some comment I made to one of the workers and when I asked what did I say the owner said "we don't take notes on this stuff." I had a cart full of products and left because I do not feel comfortable doing business anymore. The owner of the store is named Erin, who I also tried to explain that I was a single mother. She just smiled in my face while I clearly in tears over this incident. One of the worst experiences I've ever had! I've been nothing but nice to these employees and only asked why they wouldn't buy sandals my daughter never even put her foot in. read more

I first came in and wasn't even greeted...just a 4 girls behind a counter and continued what they were doing. I told one of the girls at the front that I had some bulky items, and so was told to bring them in. She saw I was making multiple trips back and forth to my car and not once did she ask if I needed help, or did anyone even get the door for me. Granted she told me, they see how much it's going for then they get half, then we get half of that. All in all...for a Graco Pack N Play ($100 original), Graco Bassinet ($150 original) a bouncy seat ($30 original) and a baby carrier ($40 original)..they gave me a whopping $80 bucks. They will not offer you anything for your items. Waited 2 hours for them to go through my stuff to offer basically nothing for what they wanted. Just go to Marshalls or TJ maxx , the stuff they had for sale was the same as the prices there and was used. Sick of these stores making 200% profits off people and not even treating the customers well. read more

Dont bother selling new clothes or items there unless you expect to be offered squat. I was offered 20 dollars for a new fisher price swing that was 160. Was offered 130 total for the swing and 150 pieces of brand new or worn once super nice pieces of clothing mainly carter brand, 10 brand new shoes, brand new toys, brand new halo sleep sacs and a like new bassinet in excellent condition and snow suits etc the list goes on. Total waste of my time if they offered me 250 I would of taken it and they would of still made a nice profit off of my stuff. Especially when I walked out the door and saw their 50 dollar price tags on used bassinets lol I know places like this low ball you but give me a break I am not giving away my brand new name brand stuff either! read more

Nope..Never will I return to this store! I recently went in and purchase over 200.00 worth of clothes. Inquired about an exchange program and associate advised me to bring in my used clothes and they would apply them to new ones as my dtg has just outgrown everything. I went home and for two whole days i went through closets and drawers, washed EVERYTHING . Made sure there were no stains, no wrinkles. I then proceeded to store with two bins. I was shopping around although watching to see if they were going through my bins. I inquired about my clothes and was told that they would not be purchasing anything as my clothes "we covered in animal hair" I said to associate, you must have the wrong bins because i just washed everthing and alot of the stuff in the bin were never worn! some rude lady perhaps manager or owner came out of the woodwork proceeding to tell me again my clothes were covered with hair. I was mortified!! FIRST OF ALL COVERED TO ME MEANS THAT HAIR IS CLEARLY OBVIOUS all over. she was not descreet and she made me feel as though I was a dirty person. I proceeded to pull items out of the bin and ask her to please show me what she is talking about?? Well, I had put a pair of slippers in the bin at the last minute next to a black sweater, causing literally 3-4 very small hairs on the belt of the sweater!! I couldn't believe that she was saying COVERED because that they were not!! I proceeded to walk out the door totally humiliated and saw three strollers in the front of the store. these strollers were soo dirty! they tray of one had spilled harden milk as well as the foot piece of another . the umbrella stroller looked so dingy I would never put my baby in! After seriously thinking about what had just happened I realized I could go to walmart and buy newborn sleepers that are brand new for cheaper then they were there, so there I went!! After reading multiple negative reviews on other sites I know now that deciding to take my business elsewhere is warranted! I give the customer service a -10!! word of mouth travels fast, hopefully others will be treated better! read more
