i would give the store at eldorado pkwy 0 stars if i could. the store is dirty, clothes smell nasty, holes. the worst is the customer servic, you are either being ignored or get rude comments. today they watched me carry in a large, heavy tote with lots of unused toys. they waited until i was inside in front of them to tell me that the tote is too big, i can come back with mul smaller ones. they wouldn't let me use theirs, not sure why but thank you again for waiting unt i carried everything inside and was in front of you. i will for sure not go back! not to buy or sell! read more

This is not the first time I have had a bad experience. But this last time I went there I had a big bag of clothes which had no stains. I just washed them folded them. They were complete sets Disney Minnie, mouse, good brands, brand new, almost and I only got one dollar on top of that the girls that were working there were very rude and disrespectful and also had headphones in so I couldn't even tell if they were paying attention to what I was saying entirely. I looked like I was wasting my time. not satisfied with the employees and just the overall experience of this establishment. read more

Very poor experience. We bought a swing here for our 2 month old. Unfortunately she did not like it, so we attempted to return it a couple weeks later. They only accept returns within 7 days and they would not even buy the swing back from us. They said it was too dirty.... We literally used it two times for less than 5 minutes each because our child disliked it. Very unhappy experience and staff was rude. I do not recommend this business. I find this store to be better organized than Kid to Kid. But, the brands here are not as great. At Kid to Kid I can find tons of name brand clothing like Zara and others. Here, it was mostly Garanimals it seemed. The girls selection was better than the boys. The girls that work here were nice but not as above and beyond and not as friendly as Kid to Kid. We have been to the Eldorado location twice and the Plano location once, and we will not be returning to either location. Salesgirls were rude at both locations, and we were offered $12.50 for a barely used Graco swing. I wanted to grab the thing and go back home, but my boyfriend didn't want it taking up space in our garage so I traded it for two toys for my baby...and had to pay $9 on top of it. Ridiculous. The stores at both locations were disorganized and dirty-looking, books thrown on shelves in no particular order or age grouping...I can't believe people actually shop here. This is my go to shopping destination when my granddaughters visit (the 6 year old calls it her "mini bow-tique lol). We can have fun loading up on quality items without breaking the bank. This means we can buy a lot more for a lot less than at the mall. Everything I have ever purchased here has been great quality. I've never seen anything in this store with a stain, any kind of funky smell or general wear and tear as one might experience with thrift store finds. The staff has always been great to help us with anything we need. Highly recommend! read more

Bad customer service. The 2-3 times I've been to this location, the cashiers seem very confused and were rude. They directed both me and the other 2 customers in the lines to different lines, and then served someone who just walked up out of turn. What most irritated me was that an employee, who may have been a manager I'm not sure (she was older and was directing the cashiers) started to complain about the lady in front of me BEFORE she and her family even left the store! They sold something and then went to browse, and the employee started to complain about how she needed to be put on the "no sale" list. It was so rude. On top of that, the layout of the store is so weird that customers leaving have to run over customers entering the store. It's disappointing because the merchandise is good quality and a good price. I'll be going to the bigger locations in Plano instead of this one because of the customer service. read more

Came to this location to sell my used items. Most have not been used due to my child being in the hospital since birth. They didn't take most of it because "they did not have enough room in the store for it". They passed on the majority of what I brought in most of it still in original box unopened. read more

Every single one of the customer service representatives there went above and beyond. I won't go into every detail but everyone was more than accommodating to me and my needs. Even more surprising, the store manager was amazing and went back into the store room to find something I was in search of that I didn't see on the shelf. Just love this place. I'm not quite sure what the low star reviews are about, but I love shopping for baby clothes here. There is another children's consignment store on Eldorado but Once Upon A Child has a much larger clothing selection. You can find a huge array of items for all kid age ranges. The clearance is great- I usually get some shirts and pants for $1-2 each from clearance. read more

Once Upon a Child 2960 W. Eldorado Prkwy, McKinney, TX Every single one of the customer service representatives were very rude and disrespectful! Didn't feel welcomed all!!! Very hostile atmosphere! They get a big fat 0.0!!!! Was told that it would take 4 or 5 hours to go through my items even though I was the only one in the store!. When I went back to check on my items was told they were half way finished going through my items and it would take another hour. Since I lived quite a distanced away, I asked if I could get my "offer" for the items the next day. I told its was "ok" to do that. Went on my way and by the time I drove all the way home(17 minutes), received a phone call from the store saying they looked through all my items and none of them were being accepted and to comeback to pick them up!!!!! So, after waiting over 5 hrs. for them to make me an offer and wasting my gas to turnaround and go all the way back to pick up my items, this experience was a total waste of time and painful! They could have told me while , I was there but, instead waited for me to drive all the way home to reject ALL of my items even though they were designer items and some still had the sales tag on them. I used to like this store but I have noticed the selection isn't that great for toddler/older boys. They have plenty of cute stuff for infants and girls though. For $1.50-2.00 more, I can go buy a brand new shirt at Carter's, Children's Place or Target when they are on sale. The staff isn't super friendly and they are extremely picky about what items they buy. I have taken a basket full of lightly used/like new condition items worth over $100 before and only been offered around $13.00. They rejected a handful of new things as well. Some of the items on the racks look pretty worn. I have no idea how those made it through the tough inspection. From now on I will just buy new items on sale. It's not worth my time to shop here. read more

The store was messy. Also they did not honor their yelp check-in offer. They said they don't "do coupons." That's interesting since the other Once Upon a Child shops don't even have a check-in offer. Only this McKinney one did and that's why I went. I will not return to buy or sell. read more

I buy all three of my kids clothes here. The deals especially on girl size clothes are great. I recently just got a pair of new abercrombie jeans, juicy couture outfit, 2 aeropostle shirts and a pair of justice jeans for $38.00. All are in brand new condition. Great deal!!! read more

I still feel shocked about how much money they offered me for new and almost unused clothes. The toys I was willing to sell are so expensive in other stores and were new. The just returned them to me. The manager was nice but the employers need more customer service sills. My belief is that they are so crowded of stuff that they doesn't sell, that they cant buy stuff. If that's the case. Inform that to the customer. But $13 but 5 pieces of clothes and one toy is a shame. read more

I have been in this store several times since moving to McKinney from Chicago 4 years ago. I am not a stranger to Once Upon a Child. I have shopped at several in the Chicago area and now here in McKinney and Plano. Every time I am in the Mckinney store it gets worse and worse. The staff is rude, there is no selection, and the store is ALWAYS messy...no matter what time of the day. There is NO customer service AT ALL!!! I will never go back to this store!! They would get NO stars if possible! I've shopped here a few times and the items are worn, over priced, and dirty. I've tried to sell as well, and the clerks are rude, they cant just appraise a handful of items in a timely manner but instead have you come back in several hours making another trip thus using more gas and time. Then they Maybe want 1 or two items, and pay you .50 cents each. Also some items may be missing from your bucket that you pick back up. Soooo not worth it at all!! tip-- you can get far better deals at target or babies r us! Example- i saw a used star wars figure for $20 when i just saw the same one at walmart, New, for $15. I have been a faithful costumer at this location since it opened because it's such a great deal and the clothes are always great. My only complaint and I'm noticing it more and more lately, is that some of the staff members are rude. I've noticed them frequently snapping at the children in the store and generally have a very blasé attitude toward the customers. I witnessed a woman become so enraged at the treatment of her children she demanded to speak with someone of importance on the phone and refused to leave until it happened. It was a loud ordeal and after listening to her end of the conversation, I agreed with her. She left the store proclaiming she would never return. I was browsing one evening when a girl came up to me and told me they were closing - no 10 minute warning or anything. It just felt weird and rushed. Tonight, my children were the ones who got snapped at. I decided I've seen enough and I put back the clothes I had in my arms and left. I won't be back, which is a shame because the prices and selection are great. I just can't bring myself to shop at a place that carries children's items yet has no tolerance for children. The girls didnt even look at them or telling us if they are interest. They asked us to fill the form and the girl is gonna have a look at those items in 15'. Really? Not gonna come back. Nice store, clean and well organized and the staff is nice. My only issue was what they want to pay for items. I totally understand items that have been used giving very low prices but I brought in lots of items with tags ranging from $20-$40 and they wanted to pay me .70 - $1.20 for the items. I could have a garage sale and get more money for the items. I know they will sell them for 5 to 10 times more. They would not even take some items that were brand new but they took used items so I was not sure what that was about. The only items I might sell there are used items. I will be able to make more money just selling them on a Facebook site. read more

The older lady who works there is so rude. I use to go into this store at least once a week and buy to a ton of clothes from there but after today's incident I won't be returning. I was told I could "go across the street and make my deals at Tom Thumb" after a lady had walked in trying to sell a play yard to them. They hadn't even helped her or looked at the gate and definitely didn't own it yet and I offered the lady an amount for it so she didn't have the hassle of putting it together for them and she said ok. The old lady behind the counter then comes flying to the front of the store barking at me to leave and said I was being rude for making a deal. After saying that they hadn't even started paperwork on it or even looked at it she continued to be rude and talk to me like I was a dog. Never again will I be shopping here. read more

Worst employee ever! The older lady w glasses was so rude to a customer. She was yelling at the customer telling her she could go make her deals across the street at Tom Thumb. The young girl looked to be Hispanic and I don't think it was right that this employee treated a customer like this. The customer did not ask for any thing off of a price or anything. She had already made her purchase and was walking out if the store. She asked a lady who brought an item in (and was waiting to be helped by the store to sell her stuff) and asked if she would sell it to her before the store ever looked at the item she was bringing in. The lady bringing items in to the store said yes she would sell it to her but the employee started yelling at the young girl and told her to leave the store. I could see the employee getting upset if they already looked at items and bought them from the lady but that was not the case. You know the store would not give her as much for the item as the young girl offered to buy before the lady gave to the store. It was the lady's prerogative to sell her item to whom she wished. She didn't have to sell it to the store. If she wanted to sell it to the girl before the store agreed to buy it--that was her right. It was horrible the way the older lady employee treated that young girl like she was a low life scum. That being said after witnessing this I will NEVER spend another penny at this store. I'm not quite sure what the purpose of this place is.they claim to be a resell shop, but in my experience they seem to only take pristine or brand new items. My first experience with Once upon a Child was about a year ago. I took some of my sons clothes in to sell. Most of the items I selected were barely worn or new with the tags on. The girls who looked over the items were very rude. They passed on them due to "wear and tear". I thought that was funny because a lot of the stuff was brand new with the tags on. Then recently I thought I would give it another shot.. I brought in a pack and play and a toy. The pack and play DID have a spot on it from a washable marker that I didn't notice until I opened it. I cleaned it off and it came right out. Again they passed on it. I understand that they have a standard as to which they buy things. But as I looked around while waiting for the two rather rude employees to talk about my things in front of me (as if I couldn't hear the things they were saying) I noticed that there were other things that were in much worse condition than mine for sale there. I guess the only way to sell things here is to go to Buy Buy Baby, buy something brand new and then go sell it at once upon a child. if u are looking to sell your gently used baby items, I suggest Craig's list.
