As a shopper the store is clean and organized. Some of the name brand things for being used is slightly overpriced. Now as someone going in as a seller, from a smoke free and pet free home they don't really consideration I did go in with two boxes with namebrand and I will say one of the reasons was they said that some of the clothes were stained, and there was like I looked at the box There was two pieces that were small stains but the person after me smelled like weed and they came in and they brought the clothes in a literal Winn-Dixie bag and they took their clothes and it was heavily smelled like weed. Once Upon a Child buys and sells used children's clothing, toys, and baby equipment. This location is a somewhat newer one in Altamonte Springs. They have a TON of merchandise packed in here! The one downside to having so much inventory is that is there is no room to move around. Only one shopping cart can fit down an aisle at a time. During sales, it can get very crowded and crazy. The prices are great though! My recommendation is to come here during the weekday or non sales weekend. read more

Considering that kids (especially babies) go through clothes within just a few months, it's great to pay a fraction of the regular price on gently used (and sometimes never used) clothes. I highly recommend you sign up for their text program as it tells you about deals a day ahead of time. For instance, last weekend there was a text from this location that they were doing $1 sleepwear and jammies. I was able to get a variety of sizes for munchkin of footed sleepers for under $30. They were also doing costumes 70% off. I have never tried to sell anything to them, so I can't speak to that experience, although I'll say that they sell the clothes for low prices so I can see why they might offer low prices to buy them from sellers. This OUAC is in need of expansion! The offerings and prices here are by far my favorite. Our kids were attending VBS nearby and we went to thrift stores all week since we live an hour away. This store was the only place I made a purchase. Shirt prices ranged from $2.50-4.50, with most simple shirts being $2.50. We bought an armload. Bows were 3 for $5. I did find some stained clothes but most had been checked well. The staff was nice but we had never been here and felt like idiots for not understanding the reward system. The clearance apparently only applies to certain people but that was fine since I hadn't even noticed the clearance signs. The clothes had the traditional thrift store smell. We weren't offered a bag for our clothes. We didn't need one, and would have told them that, but it still felt strange. Books and toys could use better organization. read more

Very rude staff and underestimated wait times for selling items. Was told a wait time of around 1.5 hours and it ended up being well over two hours. I don't live close to this location so unfortunately I didn't have the option to return later. I have been to many of Once Upon a Time's started with the Original in Tampa an " Employee came in at the same time as me an the staff took her basket before a waiting customer. Not to mention they paid her out $65 while was standing there still waiting!!! I was told 15 minutes @ 11:20am - see the picture that inserted.. it's Noon right now WoW the took my stuff @. Extremely rude staff . They don't notify you when your sale is ready . First they told me 45 mins then when time was up as I was waiting with my toddler I asked if it was ready . Then they told me it would be 1 hour . My stuff was in a pile sorter with a tag after the hour past I asked again twice and each time I asked it was an extra 10 mins. They only finished the order because my child finally started screaming and crying . They were clearly trying to be difficult for no reason. They made me wait from 10:47- 12:15 .I even left and went to two stores and came back and to eat something. I will never return this is just unacceptable. I have been to many Once Upon a Child in the area but this one is the worst. I brought in clothing in mint condition, plus a whole bunch of toys. They took quite a bit of the items but only paid out $14 for them. That's almost insulting. This experience definitely makes me not want to go back. There are other stores in the area, who offer you a fair amount for items they take. Only reason this store didn't get one star is because they do have a large space and it is neatly organized. Nevertheless, I won't be back. They are not the only OUAC in the area and before I waste my time, trading my items in with them again, I will try another store or donate them to charity. read more

Came to once upon a child to sell my sons old clothes, staff is rude and was told they would not take clothe in a grocery bag we also had a box with clothe so we ended up putting all the clothw in the bag in the box that simple that's all they had to do. They were rude and snotty about it when it's just in a bag but when we waited 30 minutes to get the clothes "inspecected" after that wait no one let us know they were done then we were told our kids clothes had "pet" hair in it bunch of non sense and then they give us our clothes back in a bag when I thought they just told us they wouldn't take clothe in a grocery bag or trash bag. This place has bad costumer service and I will not return to this place. I will take all my kids old clothes elsewhere were they dont waist my time. read more

Shopping at these stores used to be a fun adventure. When I had my premie baby 9 years ago, they were a lifesaver with their prices & selection. Present day experiences have been so poor, my same child says they'd rather me give their great condition used clothing and toys away rather than be insulted with the pennies they offer when selling to them. Buying new clothes for two boys on a growth spurt can be hard, So having stores like this around are great. They offer boys and girls clothes from new born all the way up to fit my 8 year old. Shoes , books, toys also sold here. I love shopping here but I'm not a fan of selling here. They are extremely picky about what they purchase but sometimes while shopping I wonder how some of the items got past the very selective picking process dingy and not in the best condition. Went in with my daughter hoping to find something she was looking for. Place is not busy. We find what we are looking for yay! There was 1 customer in front of us. And S (employees name initial) rings up the customer bags the customers things takes customers money and gives receipt. This is all happening very slow as he is talking up a storm with the customer. Great! Always want to make the customer feel comfortable and welcome. But when you talk, stop talk stop while other customers are waiting is where it then becomes just poor customer service. When you are done with the customers purchase and then decide to continue the conversation and pull your phone out to show pictures is a bit much. Hanging in the counter like you are at the bar ‍ Especially with other customers waiting. There were 2 other employees behind the counter that could have helped assist customers while the employee socializes. ‍ and then what made me even more ugh... there was a kid behind me line and it looked like his family had just made a purchase and something must have rung up wrong because he had a dress and a receipt in his hand.. Im out the door and the employee still has not even started to help the kid! Horrendous! Just a friendly reminder that the 1 employee needs a customer service check! And the ones behind the counter should open their eyeballs and jump in when they see their fellow employee slacking. read more

I hate going to these stores, but sometimes I go with my wife to lend her a hand. My main gripe is that it takes FOREVER to sell your stuff. There is never any urgency for the employees. My last visit was no different. The store was almost dead and it still took a half hour. One girl who was going through our stuff was chatting with a friend who came to visit her, CLEARLY causing her to take longer to do her job. Then when we finally were told that they were done looking, they only wanted about 10% of it, claiming that the other stuff had some staining or "too much love". Funny, because some of it had never been worn and my wife went through it all before we took it in to make sure the clothes and toys looked good. I even looked at it when we got home and I didn't see any issues with the items. Maybe they should pay more attention to people's stuff and less attention to their friends? Maybe. read more

I come here often and sell a lot of my items to this store in particular. I had a lot of items that I no longer needed; some unused, some slightly used but all well maintained items. Being pretty hip to the game, I've sold and purchased items via consignment many times before and what matters the most is brand and appearance in order to receive $$$ for your items, or at least get them accepted. The store is well kept, cleanliness is maintained. The toy and book section gets messy, but other than that everything else is organized. It even smells clean. We will continue to come by and purchase what we need and sell what we don't. It's literally a blessing because my son is growing so fast. This place is great and I find great clothes and baby items that look new. I would recommend signing up for the texting alerts; they let you know the sales immediately. I also recommend taking advantage of their frequent stamp system; there's additional savings when you use the whole card and last but not least happy hunting, there's a lot to find. read more

Rude, poor customer service. Waited in line for almost an hour with staff just sitting behind the counter looking through old clothes and chatting away. I had to ask when we were going to be able to check out! When a manager/lead asked the cashier to start ringing people up, she had an obvious attitude and didn't even apologize for the long wait. They were also rude to other customers and offered me pennies for really good quality items. I said No Thank You and just donated the items to Amvets. I will never go back to this location again even though it's the closest one to me. They need to understand good customer service and learn the basic laws of courtesy and respect. read more

My wife purchased a jacket for our son at the location. At the register she noticed it had a stain on it. So she didn't want it. "Ski", the man behind the register, told my wife just to take it home and to try this stain remover on it. If the stain didn't come out bring it back for a refund. My wife washed it and the stain didn't come out. We brought back the item with our receipt and because we didn't have the tag on it he refused to refund our credit card for the transaction. Here's the issue, "Ski" handled the refund and remembered the situation and still refused to refund the card for the transaction claiming "company policy". I won't be back. read more

Staff was rude, I was harassed by security for trying to unload heavy items at the curb bc I am 7 months pregnant. I called ahead of time and asked if they take pack and plays, but was not informed of their policy for items before 2013. If they had told me That when I called I wouldn't have attempted to sell it. Not one staff member offered to help me put the heavy items into a cart to take back to my car or even put the stuff back together correctly since they took it completely apart to find the date. There were at least 6 employees in the store and only 2 other customers so it's not like they were just too busy to take a few moments to help me. I've been to my consignment shops over the years, and this one is no better, no worse. Same two or three busy employees who are very particular about what you bring in, and rightfully so -- they have a reputation to keep pristine. No appointments are necessary here, but I didn't want to drop off then return in less than 24 hours to find out what they would take. I was lucky they weren't busy when I arrived. The store itself is small and packed, but neat and organized well. The toy section had very little. Very few books, too. It was cute watching little kids pushing mini carts around as their moms sifted through endless racks. I dragged in a large box of girls clothes. Maybe 10% of my clothes were accepted -- $20 worth in upfront cash. I knew they'd be particular, but geez. I washed and folded all these clothes! Maybe it's because the store is so small. I also forgot consignment stores only take certain items depending on the season. Either way, I'd recommend them. The prices are right and $20 is better than nothing. Time to donate the rest of my stuff! read more

They claim that they buy clothes from all seasons as long as they are clean & in good condition. Every time I bring in clothes they return all but maybe 4 pieces of clothing. Dont advertise that you buy when you dont. All of the clothes I have been bringing in are in pristine condition & only worn a handful of times. If I could give this place negative stars I would! I went last Saturday to sell some of my 6 year olds clothes and random toys. I didn't expect much but I figured i would try to sell what I could cause I was going to get rid of it anyway. I arrived around 1:15pm and signed into their little iPad mechanism they had set up. Their wait was about 1 hour so I put that I would come back for 2:30pm. In the past before they relocated I had dropped off clothes and it took them a couple days so I was pleasantly surprised that it would only take an hour or so. I put my bag on the table and the first words out of the associates (skinny girl with glasses and a bun) mouth was "next time use a basket because when it's in a bag it gets wrinkled" ummmm hi to you too?? You're welcome for visiting your store today???? Whatever. I understand that's your policy NOW but there is a way to get that across professionally. Anyway I dropped it off And walked around. Wasn't interested in purchasing anything so walked around the plaza. Killed some time at 5 Below. Came back around 2:40pm and they still weren't done. I could hear the associates literally talking crap about my items. Like you guys do know there is no glass there?? If you're not going to purchase that's fine but don't talk crap about a customers items. There was literally nothing wrong besides wrinkles and the toys were random. Like I said I didn't come to make a bunch of money but yes I do expect great customer service no matter what and this was NOT it. By now it's 3pm and my stuff was still not done. Maybe they'd be more efficient if they actually focused at the task at hand. I went to my car to wait because I was tired of hearing them talk unprofessionally with so many customers in obvious sight plus my two month old was getting cranky. 3:30pm I finally get a call that my items are ready. Yay. After almost 2 and a half hours I could collect my measly $18 OR $20 In store credit. Generous. The Spanish girl checking out sees me standing there but instead of acknowledging me she's doing other things, so I'm like "hey I want to check out?" she was like "ok wait" then another customer comes back to the register with an item she was grabbing last minute. Why couldn't the associate just say "hey I'm currently checking someone out but I'll be right with you"? literally not worth wasting your time or the drive. The place is dusty and the associates are unprofessional. Funny is right before this visit I was at Plato's dropping off my own clothes and they literally took 30 mins at most and were not hypercritical of customer belongs. No need for me to go back. At all. Not even to buy their $4 onesies. Saving money is not worth crappy service. I rather spend more and actually shop with a company who cares how they treat you. read more

Very unsatisfied with this store. I brought six bags worth of gently used clothing and baby accessories to Belly's, Babies, and Beyond. Nothing had any stains, holes, or anything, as those items were dropped off in our local clothing drop box. Belly's, Babies, and Beyond offered us $123.50 for all of our stuff, turning away only one pair of boots because they felt they were just going to take up space on their shelves for a while as no one would ever buy winter boots in our wonderfully hot state. Wanting to make sure we were getting the best price possible, we took them up on their three day price guarantee, and brought all the stuff over to here, to Once Upon a Child. First of all, in order to drop off items you have to fill out a questionnaire form. This is normal, but why in the world it asks you what your favorite radio station is, is beyond me. We were told they would give us a call when they were done sorting and that it should take roughly an hour. This was at 2:30. By 6:30, I still had not heard from them. I called them up, and am nonchalantly told, "oh yeah, we finished these a couple hours ago." Great, so did you forget how a phone works? Then I come in, and see that out of everything I had brought in, they had only accepted about 3/4 of a bag's worth. They turned down about 85% of our items, particularly all of the bedding items such as blankets and crib bumpers because they're not allowed to purchase any bedding material. When I asked about the countless items of clothing they turned away, holding up one piece in particular that I grabbed off the top that had absolutely nothing wrong with it, the employee gave me a halfhearted shrug and mumbled "don't know what to tell you man". They ended up offering me around 20 bucks for the few items they did accept. Sitting here going through all of the clothing they turned down, I have yet to find a single stain, hole, or any fading whatsoever. I have tried to shop here several tines in the last 9p days. Each time I go the store is a mess and generally looks unkept. The employees don't smile, and all chatter amongst themselves constantly. I even stood in front of the counter, in front of a female employee who was carrying on a conversation about something she had done the night before and SHE DIDN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE I was standing there! I had items in my hands and my 15 month old daughter in the other. I had to interrupt them to try to buy my clothes!! She was so rude to me that I put them all back and decided to tell all my "mommy" friends about my experience. We all decided that while this is the most convenient location we will not shop there again. I wasn't the only one who had this type of experience recently. It seems the Owners have hired too many kids that aren't the least bit interested in customer service. read more

I stopped by to check out Once Upon a Child- I have never been in one but had heard good things. This one had *just* opened the day before I went. The place was bustling with a bit of chaos. It is very tight and cramped. The clothes are packed onto racks but seemed well organized. The prices ranged from $2-$6 on average. I thought prices were actually high for used clothes but it was what I expected. Some items looked new, some not so much. I browsed lightly but only ended up buying three small things, two of which were brand new. They have toys, strollers, bouncers, high chairs, etc lining the outer walls. I think for those items you'd do better on Craigslist or hitting garage sales. The employees seemed overwhelmed. I felt like I was bothering them to ask a question (many things weren't marked). It felt like they may have needed another few weeks to get themselves organized before they opened. I'll try stopping by again sometime, to see if things have calmed down. FYI- since I'd never been in this store before I asked how selling things worked. Apparently you bring items you want to sell and leave them. The employees enter your items into the computer and based on brand and age/size access a value for your items. You are given cash for whatever you sell. There was a gaggle of people trying to sell their items causing a big blockage near the entrance. Maybe the store is just too small but it was a mess! read more

Okay so this was not my first time here, and I have had an okay experience in the past, but today did not go as well. I went in to sell a bouncer and a little stroller. Both are brand new, the stroller has never even touched the pavement before. Well I was "greeted" by a young man, maybe 18, and I dropped my stuff off and told him I'll be back. Well when I came back he told me my bouncer was "unsteady". I had to chuckle a little because he had not set the bouncer up correctly. The bottom bar was still folded up so of course it was unsteady. Then he told me the stroller has a wheel that "stuck", well yeah it's brand new with the tags still on it, so it still needs to be broken in! I don't know I feel like there should be at least one employee who knows how baby items work, and how they should be used and set up? And the employees should have a little more pep in their step. Every one looked as though they were attending a funeral. I will not be going back to that location. I have never been able to find clothes that do not have stains or are incredibly worn out. They need to seriously consider revamping their stock. read more

They had the exact same shower tub at kmart for 32.60 and this place had the nerve to price it $40. All of their items are priced beyond new store priced items. I used to be a regular client. Recently, I had a horrible experience with one of the employees. No customer service what so ever! I came in with my 4moms swing. She saw I had it in the original box. The employee expected me to build it in the store while I had my one year old son. Instead of telling me from the moment I walked in the store with the box in my hand that they couldn't accept it unless it was built. She just wasted my time. The second time I went in she looked for any reason to not accept my items. I don't know if she's racist or she had something against me. Yet the Employee was not professional at all. She should wait till the client is gone before talking about them. Very disappointed with the service. I will never return and make sure to tell all of my friends and family about my experience at this store read more
