Then they compacted the stone base. The final step included 2 layers of hot mix asphalt. Yes, they used 2 layers!!!! The final product is incredible. My neighbors said they can't believe how thick the entire surface became. They agree that our driveway is the best they have ever seen. The asphalt crew was very friendly and diligent. It was hidden at time of home purchase by a wood wall. Jay regraded front, back, and end of the house to drain water away, installed 4" PVC to pipe gutter discharge 25' from house, and lined up replacement of the end wall of the basement with 10" block poured full with concrete and rebar.
