Just weren't interested in our business. UPDATE: Since the owner has come by to defend his gross practices, I want to update and assure you he is lying. He cancelled on me more than one time after we had taken time off from work to meet with him, and his help was bafflingly rude when they told me after the last cancellation that they didn't want our business. Saying "oh boo hoo other contractors would have been worse!" Is no excuse for the awful treatment we received.

We recently completed a complex project with Core Remodeling Services involving finishing a large…read morebasement, adding a custom bathroom and detailed integration with an AV system company. The entire project team was great to work with, very responsive and highly organized. We really liked the project management app and 3D design software they used. Before bringing in the Core team my husband and I struggled with making decisions around the final design. However once we brought in Corey's team, they helped with determining the design elements and provided great guidance & suggestions that made the decision process much easier. The Core team was very flexible and happy to work with the company installing our AV system so all the design planning and scheduling was aligned. We highly recommend Core Remodeling and we look forward to doing additional home renovations with their team soon.

We renovated our home and added a substantial wrap around porch. We worked with an architect to…read moredesign the porch, and had a really hard time finding a contractor that was responsive and seemed to want the job. Leader was a little more expensive than some bids we got, but I honestly think when changing the face of your house, you get what you pay for. Leader dealt with the City, the permits, the architect, and managed every detail of the project. Lauren dealt with permits and the front end of the project (because I knew nothing when we started all this), and Kaitlyn (construction manager) managed all the contractors and worked with us to deal with contingencies as they arose. We replaced the windows and door on the front of the house. We excavated 14,000 pounds of concrete stairs (layered for over 100 years), we replaced the siding on the front. We had roofers and electricians to deal with. The carpenters that built the porch (Zenon!!!) were masterful and executed the architectural plans perfectly. The structure and roof were completed in 6 weeks start to finish. I appreciate how communicative Leader is, I appreciate how carefully and neatly their contractors worked, I appreciate that every single person who worked on our property was incredibly professional. We absolutely adore our porch. It looks like a totally different house. We couldn't be more pleased with the work of this excellent company.

Apparently, before calling them, you need to know how much your construction project will cost. Since we didn't (gasp) and perhaps because our initial estimate was lower than their over the phone estimate, they didn't even bother offering to come out to give an estimate. I guess our money is not good enough for these people.

When the contractors rebuilt the back of our house, they put the precast stairs up on a concrete…read morepad that was about two inches higher than the rest of the surrounding yard. This meant that the final step was a much steeper drop off than the rest of the stairs. After futzing around with concrete pavers, we figured out what we wanted, and called Nauak to come and do the work of turning our kitbashed solution into something that would withstand New England winter. At the same time, we also needed to modify and improve the existing railing to make some mobility-impaired folks feel a lot more comfortable on the stairs while still allowing us to get snow off the steps. We wanted a pipe railing with no sharp corners and easy purchase to grab. At the same time, we asked them to put in a shelf next to the stairs for boxes, purses, etc, when going in and out of the door. They did a beautiful job. And once the concrete was set on the railing, they tested it, pronounced it excessively mobile, and came back to redo the anchors. My kids now swing through the space of the railing and it *does* *not* *move*. The shelf has been pronounced, "Brilliant!" by the person most in need of it. The splinters are gone from the original railing. And we will still be able to shovel snow off the steps without banging into the railing in the winter. Nauak does fantastic work, and they have pride in it to make sure they do it *right*. We will be hiring them again.

They were good about staying in touch with us over email during the week we were on vacation, so we knew what was up, which we appreciated a LOT - far too many contractors treat email like it's poisonous and communication like it's an afterthought. They were also nicely flexible when bluestone treads proved scarce (other contractors we'd contacted also had trouble getting firm quotes for them) and we asked about switching to granite in order to minimize delays. They did really good work - the new stairs are solidly built, to the plan we asked for, and look fantastic. The new railings haven't gone in yet (waiting on the company making them), but based on their work so far I have high confidence that they'll do a great job with the installation.

The second time was for spray foam beneath a flat roof. Both jobs were done professionally and fully satisfied the requirements. They left our house clean and neat. I have to say after the job they…read moredid today, I am not surprised seeing so many 5 star reviews about his work ethic and most importantly, his communication. When I decided it was time to replace my 40+ year-old roof after consulting with Steve, he told me truthfully that he would do everything he can as a local owner and a friendly neighbor (literally one street over) to help me in any way he could to take care of my need for a new roof under my financial limits. He made sure to address any potential issues, he assessed the inside attic space and made sure he didn't see any serious concerns before making any knee jerk assumptions like some do from a visual standpoint. Whether it be from the delivery of the shingles (which he communicated with me immediately to take care of a shipment error on the warehouse side before the job started) so that the job didn't start with the wrong shingle we selected !! His price was fair compared to a couple other companies who he competes against, because he truly wanted the business so he can continue to grow to compete against the other big name companies that upsell from a commissions perspective. Everything happened as he had scheduled. His team arrived in the early morning and finished in 7 hours. Shane assisted with taking care of boarding up the existing Gable vents and cleaning up everything inside the house as well as assisting the rest of the team so that there was no trail of a mess left behind. In echoing another reviewer, after the job finished, "his entire team cleaned up so you wouldn't even know they were there." I am thankful I went with Steve and Stella Roofing Services, and will consider for any future home improvement projects.

We choose to work with Fernando because he was so attentive and thoughtful from the day he came over to give us a quote. Though there were Covid-related delays to the start of our project, the project moved fairly quickly when we started. Our wonderful foreman John was a joy to work with, answering our many questions and ensuring the work that was done was of the highest quality. If we did have questions outside of those conversations, it was easy to get in touch with our project coordinator Paula. When unknown issues arose during construction (as they do in old homes!) there were smart options presented and we were able to move forward quickly. Our home is now complete with an incredible kitchen and first-floor space. There is truly nothing we would change about it! We hope to work with Villandry on further renovations in the future.
