Turns out that he is a Southampton Town police officer and an Eastport firefighter! So he pushed the car onto a side street. Then I called AAA. I had to wait a long, long time--almost two hours, as it got dark, but then AAA called, and I got a text saying the tow truck was on its way. Joshua was WONDERFUL!! A genuinely nice man. He had had a very long day, but was cheerful, professional, and very kind. I am very appreciative of the service he provided. It was late, and he could not have been nicer. I hope that I don't need any more tows any time soon, but if I do, I hope that Joshua comes and rescues me. The tow was covered by AAA, so i don't know what it would have cost.

They were not professionals. Dennis looked at the scuffs on our driver side door and said, yeah, I'll do that. He and his team got it done in under an hour. My partner and I sat around in the waiting room for a bit (comfy chairs and good air conditioning, by the way), scrolling around on our phones. Atmosphere was good, people were chatty and happy, it's the kind of place where you know the morale is high and people actually care about what they're doing. He and his team did what apparently was a hassle for everyone else in the area. We're planning on coming back anytime we need car work. Thanks again, Dennis. See you next time.

I was a loyal senior customer of A & R Auto in Smithtown for years and referred friends and family…read morebecause I trusted them. I had made an appointment for an oil change using a VALID coupon that was advertised on their website and Facebook. When I arrived, I was told they would not honor the valid advertised price because their website hadn't been updated, and they wanted to charge me an additional $20. I was trying to explain in a calm manner why this VIOLATES federal laws like the Federal Trade Commission Act. I was truly shocked that a small business like this was so unaware of basic business practices. When I questioned why I should have to pay more because of an error on their website, the conversation turned into a heated argument. I explained that customers shouldn't be penalized for a business's failure to update its advertised pricing. I asked to speak to the owner and instead a male employee came out to yell at me when I attempted to explain how this could be misconstrued as a Bait & Switch tactic. They eventually agreed to honor the coupon, but then told me to "never come back." After years of being a loyal customer and referring friends and family, I found the entire experience horrific and unprofessional. Businesses make mistakes, but how they handle those mistakes--and how they treat loyal customers--matters. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend A & R Auto, BUYER BEWARE
