I got an iced latte and my husband got a double shot of espresso. That's how he tests the ability of baristas and the coffee beans quality. He confirmed that it was indeed good. He's hard to please so when he gives a nod of approval, it's a great sign! This business closes early, so make sure to grab your coffee or tea before 3PM. It's a morning and lunch place.

Inside the store, and occupying the whole back room is a cd and record store owned by the former owner of JP's Bakery, a famous Seguin Mexican baker who recently sold the bakery but wanted to keep his record shop somewhere. I don't know what his relationship is to Mimi. The store sells beer, soft drinks, and still shaved ice, which is a big hit in the summer. I picked up a small $1 hotdog in the back. This is an area I'd like to see improved. I felt this shrived dog, already put in a soggy bun did not measure up to the tons of city workers looking for lunch in the downtown area. I also bought a chamoy pickle $1 from a big jar that was stale.

There was no music playing. Something was definitely missing today. The atmosphere and food were lacking, so I felt obligated to change my review. The quality is unfortunately not consistent. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad day? I took her to Pecantown a couple of blocks down the street for some scones after this disappointing experience. That said, I like to highlight when a company, even a corporate giant, and a specific location, do a good job. This Seguin Starbucks is decent enough for me to come back a few times a year. Coffee and tea are prepared the Starbucks way (on the sweeter side), but the baristas do a good job and their drinks are consistent. I particularly enjoy that I never have to wait very long for my order, whether I order in advance through the app or at the counter directly. This location recently updated its furniture and they now have nice wooden tables and chairs. When it's cold out, they ramp up the heat. Unfortunately, when it's hot outside, they set the A/C to arctic mode, so I never linger too long for fear of turning into an ice cube. I appreciate that Starbucks, in spite of all its shortcomings, tries to innovate by adding new seasonal drinks. They recently added protein drinks to their menu and while they don't yet have a vegan option, it's a step in the right direction. So overall a decent place. Starbucks doesn't hold a candle to an independent local coffee shop, but when those are closed for the night, big corpo is there to serve you. That counts for something, I suppose!

They don't offer flights which is huge pet peeve of mine for breweries. Let people try your beers. So, I just got 2 pints. I got a Kolsch and an IPA that were both decent. I ordered some honey pecan wings and waffle fries which were solid. The wings had perfectly crisp skin, but the sauce sounded better than the flavor gave. The lady friend had a salad that she said was good. They also offered pours of hard-to-get bourbons but at 65.00 for a pour of George T Stagg, I passed. The place itself was very nice. The service was good. The food was solid, and the beer was decent. Just offer some flights!
