My husband and I ended up in this drive thru coffee shop for a pick me up afternoon caffeine on our way to San Antonio. I ordered a small skinny latte and the coffee was strong enough to get me through my afternoon. My husband and I bought two small drinks and it was around $8. Not a bad price point all things considered. I highly recommend this coffee shop if you are around the area. read more

Texpresso is easily the best contestant for drinks in Gonzales, TX. The employees are kind and courteous, and they will supply you with a replacement drink if you happen to spill it on your way out, or if it is not to your taste. I try to come here every day. I would recommend their iced caramel coffees or their seasonal picks. Be preemptively aware of their use of dark roast, as it could potentially turn one off due to the bitterness. read more

My husband and I randomly visited Gonzales, TX originally to try out a crepe restaurant in the downtown area. Before we left, I was craving coffee and came across Texpresso! And I must say, I am very impressed by the variety of coffee, tea, and smoothies this place offers. Who would have know this little drive thru has so many flavors of drinks to choose from. I was torn between getting a coffee and a tea so I got both. So glad I did! The Sea Salt Toffee Caramel Ice Latte was the perfect choice and it tasted exactly what I was expecting, hints of sea salt with the sweet caramel. And the best part is the whipped cream is homemade! I love it! Their teas here are also great, they aren't too sweet either. I highly recommend this place for anyone driving thru the city. The staff here is also so friendly, 10/10 would come here again! read more

Let me start this review by saying I had high hopes for Texpresso. The drive thru looks nice and polished, and it's menu looks enticing. Texpresso also prides itself in serving only organic fair trade coffee, which is definitely something I wanted to check out. I'm generally super excited to try new espresso joints, especially if they are brave enough to open in unlikely locations such as the small town of Gonzales. Unfortunately while the facade was beautiful, that's really all it was, artifice: the coffee was scorched and ultimately it all tasted like low grade beans as a result. My husband took one sip of his espresso before putting down his cup and stating that he couldn't drink any more, and I could taste the burnt espresso even through the milk, chocolate and cinnamon that made my Tex Mocha latte. I drank half of my 12oz cup and threw away the rest without guilt. All this to say that this place could be good if the barristas knew what they were doing. Unfortunately it seems like they currently do not. I'm opened to updating my review in the future if the situation improves. We'll just have to wait and see. read more

Wow... I am a coffee and smoothie head if I do say so myself. I prefer a coffee hot or iced, sweet or brewed with every meal of the deal, don't get me start on tea too! We were passing this place on the way to cuero and I was craving some coffee and saw a nice little coffee stop next to the highway. I stopped and got a French vanilla iced laté. The first sip stole me away. It was delicious, cold, refreshing, and bold. I could taste every little part in the drink so well. The lady who served me was nice. The second time I came I got a strawberry creme frap and it was simply delicious! This place I highly recommend for any coffee lovers like myself. When I finished my drink I regretted not getting a large. They might as well hire me there because I'll definitely be coming there every time I go to cuero. The prices are also very fair. Some of their coffee's are very good. You have to really look over the menu before ordering and ask questions about your drinks. It's not like Starbucks even though they charge like it is. That said, I like to highlight when a company, even a corporate giant, and a specific location, do a good job. This Seguin Starbucks is decent enough for me to come back a few times a year. Coffee and tea are prepared the Starbucks way (on the sweeter side), but the baristas do a good job and their drinks are consistent. I particularly enjoy that I never have to wait very long for my order, whether I order in advance through the app or at the counter directly. This location recently updated its furniture and they now have nice wooden tables and chairs. When it's cold out, they ramp up the heat. Unfortunately, when it's hot outside, they set the A/C to arctic mode, so I never linger too long for fear of turning into an ice cube. I appreciate that Starbucks, in spite of all its shortcomings, tries to innovate by adding new seasonal drinks. They recently added protein drinks to their menu and while they don't yet have a vegan option, it's a step in the right direction. So overall a decent place. Starbucks doesn't hold a candle to an independent local coffee shop, but when those are closed for the night, big corpo is there to serve you. That counts for something, I suppose!

Especially stores that you don't have an option to select "no tip". Hubby DID leave a tip, and we waited about 3-4 minutes maybe for my son's frappe. When the lady brought it to the window, she said the barista had upgraded his drink for him. That was very kind (my guess is she made too much so had leftovers). I was tempted to remove a star but they made up for the no food with friendliness and atmosphere. We did hang for a bit because it was so cool. I did buy a T-shirt. The pictures won't really show it but they are way into Sasquatches here. Well, that and all things Shiner. Upshot: A groovy, unique, old school coffee house - reminiscent of the days before Starbucks ruined the unique coffee house scene in exchange for conformity and expectedness. We'll be back for a cup of Joe and some more friendly conversation when time allows. It smelled great in here!

I drove by today to try Diamond R Coffee and was greeted by a very cheery and nice barista who made me an iced coffee that tasted good. A bit too sweet, but I know this can be adjusted upon request next time. The menu is pretty extensive so there's something in there for pretty much everyone. Best of all (IMHO) is that they also have non-dairy milk options. Nice! I'll make sure to stop by next time I'm around, now that I know it exists and is pretty good :)

I needed a cold treat to cool me off after my hike. I did a quick Yelp and Google search to confirm I wasn't embarking on a nasty establishment. Both sites checked out with their high star ratings. Only 10 minutes from the state park, I was en route. Upon arriving, there was a long line for the drive-thru. It was already a scorcher outside, I just wasn't looking to be too much more in the heat bath; so I decided to wait in my vehicle in line to order. After 20 minutes of waiting, it was finally my turn. I ordered #54 (the most vegan snow cone with fruit and no cream/caramel); and a mangonada sorbet. After a few minutes, the sweets were out. Heaven on muthafu~~~ earth this place is delicious!! It hit the spot so hard that it placed me into a sweet tooth coma that I wanted to immediately sleep and not drive back to Houston. The amount of syrup saturates the ice. No dry spots. The mango sorbet has bits of mango with its sweetness. Each time I pass through Luling whether that's coming or going; I make sure to stop here! Ive ordered the coconut sorbet without cream or caramel, but with nuts and it's so divine. I tried the mangonada, the best I've ever had. I've brought Sneakers and they gave him a free small cup of ice with cream. He gobbled that right up! I've even brought my parents and they loved it! Daya's is locally owned and family operated; you can't go wrong! Every person who works here has been very kind and always get my orders right. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quantity you get. I will always give them business to keep them open. Give them a try today!!

My second visit with a friend unfortunately didn't deliver the same quality, being a disappointment. While the service and decor remain the same, this time around the scones were small, cold and overbaked, the butter and jam inferior from what we had last time, and the sandwich bread was slightly dry, the filling quite bland. It was unremarkable and completely forgettable of an experience. My friend selected the Afternoon Tea which costs $50 for 2 scones, 2 teas and "4 sandwiches". The "4 sandwiches" are actually 4 quarters, so it's actually one sandwich. She felt a bit ripped off and I have to agree with her. This was not a $50 experience. The tea was fine. There was no music playing. Something was definitely missing today. The atmosphere and food were lacking, so I felt obligated to change my review. The quality is unfortunately not consistent. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad day? I took her to Pecantown a couple of blocks down the street for some scones after this disappointing experience. The coffee shop did not disappoint, and it redeemed the day for her. It's just sad that I had to even do this.
