Rueben sandwich , jalapeño ranch dressing in the background

Small town Texas, your choices are Whataburger, Tex-Mex, and barbecue, but wait you stumble on the pecan house what find great sandwich, salad and soup menu with some larger main dishes, mixed in friendly and attentive counter, staff, clean and pleasant dining room I had the Reuben sandwich with a side salad dressing was jalapeño ranch. First thing I would tell you is be careful of the jalapeño ranch. It's the real deal with a little bit of bite to it. The Reuben was not overly stuffed, proportions of meat sauerkraut and cheese are perfect, with a very nice flavor. No disrespect to Whataburger, text Mex or barbecue, but if you're in Cuero stop by the pecan house you'll be happy that you did

Best local pecans around. We buy them 10lbs at a time. Yummy. Pecans are fresh tasting.

Solid 4 stars…read more Stopped in for lunch on our way through Victoria. It's in a cute little downtown location. I understand they split time with another restaurant, so there's a Cajun menu and the Water Well Cafe menu -- our family ordered from both. Across the board, everything was good. The Cajun menu looked great. Mexican chicken fried steak, ~$20 -- 100% worth ordering. I'd never had a Mexican chicken fried steak before -- it's basically a chicken fried steak, but it comes with an order of queso on the side. Something different and unique, and very, very good. Highly recommend it. The sides I had were the okra, tater tots and a roll, all above average. Bottom line, everything we had here was very good. Would highly recommend, and would come again.

We had a great experience at The Water Well Cafe in Victoria and would absolutely come back…read more From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, which made a big impression on our whole family. We also appreciated the Christian decor throughout the restaurant and enjoyed learning that members of the team participate in an annual mission trip to Guatemala. There was even Christian merchandise available for purchase to help support those trips, which was a really meaningful touch. The food was just as good as the service. Our kids were very happy with the chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers--fair warning, the burgers are HUGE and come with a very generous portion of fries. Everything felt like classic comfort food done right. We also tried the chicken tenders, fried okra, and tater tots, and all of it was delicious. I ordered the hamburger steak plate with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables, and it was flavorful, filling, and exactly what I was hoping for. The only "regret" we had was not ordering the onion rings--they looked incredible when we saw them come out for another table! If you're in Victoria and looking for a friendly, family-oriented spot with great food, this is definitely worth a visit.

We arrived on time and our order was placed withing 15 minutes of arrival. Food didn't start coming out for about 1 hour. There was no rime or reason to the order it came out. I waited for 2 hours and 20 minutes asking every 10 minutes about my meal once everyone at our table had their food. I asked no less than 6 times and there were at least 4 other people at my table that asked on my behalf. I was offered plates (wrong order) at least 5 times. This has to be the biggest disappointment at a restaurant I have ever experienced. We watched multiple tables that were empty get served the same order I placed before they finally brought out my order. (this took 2 hours and 20 minutes). The chicken fried steak was burnt to the point I could not eat it. I will say other people in our party had issues with extremely slow service also. Needless to say, I will not be returning for any reason and I will let everyone I know not to go there. By the way, this is the first review I have ever made and I am 64 years young.

I met some friends who live in Victoria and Goliad, Texas for lunch here last weekend. We were…read morelucky to get some chairs under a tree and could hear the music from a bit further away. It was a nice, hot, muggy day! We enjoyed the BBQ, the beer, and the cocktails. I don't drink beer (but if I did I'm sure it would be Shiner beer) so I was glad to see they had a distillery with pretty much a full bar. Three of us took the tour, which was fascinating! The AC was not working well in some parts of the building that day so part of the tour, we were sweating quite a bit during parts of it because it was a hot day. The BBQ (lean brisket and sausage) was good but their sauce was a bit watery/bland. I believe the spirits were also made by the same people but I haven't seen that brand in other stores before. I had a paloma (they don't have grapefruit soda so it was just made with ruby red grapefruit juice and vodka with some soda water) and a spicy margarita. Both were good but tasted different than a typical vodka or tequila drink to me. The friends I went with have gone there several times and said the drinks/cocktails seemed watered down this time didn't taste the same as they usually do so we wondered if they had changed their spirits or the measurements. I guess I'll have to go back again some day and see if they've gone back to their usual drink recipes!

This is a nice little day trip away from San Antonio…read more A quick, lovely, scenic drive leads you to this huge backyard! Open space with lots of seating and enough yard for kids to play and throw footballs (some kids don't realize their aim/catching skill level so beware if you're sitting close to the activity). We booked the distillery tour which was a fun and educational activity. You also get to sample the spirits and walk away with souvenir bag. There's a nice big bar area outside with snacks, you can also order food and more substantial snacks through the restaurant. There is also a nice gift shop with lots of goodies. Everything was yummy. Especially the pretzels. I didn't know I could love pretzels that much! Service was friendly. Definitely a nice way to spend the day off you want to get away.
