About 5 months ago our family started this journey and pulled quotes from 5 companies. All had their opinions about pool locations, pool equipment, size and even other pool companies. After reading reviews like this one for days about all of them, we narrowed it down to 2 companies. Now this was our first pool so I knew very little but had a comfort level with Ralph the salesman we were working with. I have a job where I have to read people for a living and there was no need to bother with Ralph. He was up front about everything. Even down to the small details that my wife and I wouldn't have thought of. The paperwork was signed and off we went. Once our HOA approval was out of the way, and the permit pulled, they started the dig. If you've never put a pool in, like us, there is SO much more involved than I gave it credit. Between Justin and Ralph we never felt like communication was bad. The only hold up was some rainy days, that they couldn't help, but that only lost us about a week. Finished when they said they would and delivered on everything they said they would. We couldn't be happier with the results and EVERYONE that comes over talks about how beautiful of a job they did. If we sold our home today I would be calling Ralph up to put a pool in the next house for sure!!

The making of the fiberglass pool has irregularities and isn't level but the water is. Walking on the surface of the pool you can feel all the problems. They say it's normal that's the way it should be. Grading, rocks, setting the pool, and water was all done in one day. That is not the correct way to do it. My decking concrete has been a nightmare. Chucks left on the bottom floor. Discoloring. Brush strokes. Paint variations. Cracking immediately. Not just normal cracks, huge separating cracks. Grading was done improperly. And poor choice of concrete person so he could save some money. Mark admitted it wasn't great. He promised to build me the pool of my dreams and it's the total opposite. I can't believe they think this is good work. Drypro has been out 3 times to do repairs. They say it's bad concrete the tensile is not correct. It's falling off the coping. From inside the pool it's terrible. My husband standing some of the coping himself to help me feel a little better. Mark said he would come back and look again but then ghosted me. Hasn't returned any calls or messages as of late. I'm completely defeated and have high anxiety anytime I'm out there. It's not my happy oasis place. Do your research and homework and talk to all the people you can.

I called today and after 5 times calling and being ignored, Alejandro called me back and said for me to find someone else because they are too busy to help me right now. I was completely shocked! I should have realized from the first conversation that I should not try to hire this crew... The phone numbers on the website are their personal cell phones. Just don't want anyone to waste their time with them. I wasted a whole week to now find out they can't do what they promise on their website. FALSE ADVERTISING - SCAM!

When showing homes, I often tell people that a pool would look great in this yard and how it can work for them. In Charlotte, our weather is good enough that you can really take advantage of the outdoors year round. I had no intention of building a pool when we started to a remodel and addition project. My contractor looked at me and said, a pool would look good right there while pointing to an almost barren strip of grass. So began our love of pools. I can't tell you all the wonderful things about Pool By Design. Tommy, Simon, Jo and all the contractors were great to work with in building our pool. Our construction job was probably a bit different than most. We added a separate garage and an extensive patio all in a very small area. Home sites just aren't that big in Ballantyne. Just so happened we were dropping a pool in the middle of all of that! The first phase involved digging the pool and creating the base shell. Then our contractors came in an built the garage and patio. 7 months later Pool by Design came back to finish their work. We were a bit hesitant about what we wanted to do with the pool decking. We told Simon what our thoughts were and the team was able to create a distinct look with concrete that made it look as though the pool had been there forever. Beautiful! That was in 2006 / 2007. Since then we have had no issues with the pool except for an occasional bulb burning out, but that has been about it. The back of our house looks out at the pool. We have never covered in the winter so that we can enjoy it every day. If you are interested in building a pool, come by my house and take a look! I'm home when they come & let me tell you-- the employees the other companies sent out did 1 speck of the work that Clay does & also charged much more!! (On top of that, one company we used left dozens of heavy bags of chemicals by our pool pump to use when they come instead of having to "deal with it" at each visit. 2 companies in the past have dumped the contents of our pool filter right down onto our rocks by the pump, so it was a piled up wet leaf mess out there. Unlike those companies, Clay is DETAIL oriented, KIND & an excellent man to do the job. He even leaf-blows our pool patio area!
