Over the last 15 years, I have had the privilege to have Dr. Carter as part of my health team, and…read moreit's been extremely healing and helpful. I have had consistent health issues from staph infections and shingles, to problems with my nervous and lymphatic system, anemia and chronic allergies at a young age. Some of these conditions have been harder to treat, owing to the lack of a well-known root cause and/or diagnosis; this has been extremely frustrating, not only because of the pain and illness, but because of the lack of empathy, care and love I have experienced in the traditional medical system. Dr. Carter has been the one doctor that has really listened to me in a very healing way. He has validated my concerns and has not not rushed to diagnose something just to check a box. Instead of making assumptions, he has patiently walked with me through this journey to health with a lot of loving care, empowering me in every step of the way to take control of my health. I have had experiences with many doctors that simply don't show care or empathy; with Dr. Carter, I have felt that he cares for me as a patient in a holistic way, and this in itself has been incredibly healing for me. Not only that, but his evaluations and recommendations have been the most effective throughout my healing journey, as a result of his holistic, personal, and balanced approach. As an anthropologist, I have studied the traditional and fundamental role of healthcare providers over time and in a variety of cultures: a trusted person who cares for the total wellbeing of their patient. Dr. Carter truly embodies this model of care. It is a real privilege to be under the care of Dr. Carter, and I highly recommend him.

I met Maria about 23 years ago after I underwent gastric bypass surgery. I had lost 158 pounds and…read moreI distinctly remember Maria talking about mindful eating by having us eat a raisin (I HATE raisins), feel it, taste it, focus on it. While I maintained the weight loss for 10 years, life happened and I was not prepared in any way, shape or form. Slowly, 100 pounds crept back on and with it, the feelings of being so stuck in a body that was a traitor. During COVID I decided to become a life coach. There is no way to work up through master certification without getting coached yourself. And something magical happened. I remembered that stupid raisin and thought about being mindful in all aspects, physical, emotional, and spiritual. I struggled for a year or so trying to do it alone, and finally contacted Maria about three years ago. Thank goodness for her patience. I struggled, really, really painfully struggled. I started really acknowledging food, why I ate, what did it do for me, did it serve my interests short-term or long-term. And, lo and behold, I started getting healthy. I started to really listen to what Maria had been telling me all along, and I got brutally honest with myself. Slowly, with Maria's guidance, I changed what I ate, how I ate, when I ate, and WHY I ate. Maria never judged, never criticized, always encouraged, gave me recipes and suggestions when weird cravings would develop. As a result, my relationship with food changed dramatically. I learned how to be a healthy eater. And, nope, still not keen on raisins. I have always felt people come into our lives for a reason. Who knew 23 years ago that damn raisin would lead to all this. I am so grateful for this magnificent woman, her patience and her insight. Trust her, trust the process and trust yourself.

Her combination of kinesiology, knowledge of nutrition and supplements along with her genuine caring make her an extraordinary healer. Her extensive research, experience and training give her tremendous insight. I went to her last year after my doctor was unable to diagnose why I'd been violently ill (extreme nausea and uncontrollable diarrhea) for nearly 3 weeks. Within the hour long visit and muscle testing with Marge, she accurately diagnosed the issue (a parasitic infection) and gave me the supplements needed to cure the illness. Within a few hours of taking my first dose of the recommended supplements, I had energy and an appetite again - all this after not being able to keep food in for over two weeks! This is not hyperbole- it's the TRUTH! I no longer call my PCP when I'm ill, I call Marge. She has never failed to help me get well if I'm sick or stay well when I'm healthy. They are conveniently located in the Lac De Ville plaza and I was in and out within five minutes. Everyone was SO kind and helpful, and my shake was really delicious. I am a protein powder SKEPTIC. I think it makes everything taste like diet chalk. I am pleased to report my banana shake did NOT taste like chalk, and I downed the whole thing throughout the course of an afternoon. I am grateful for anything that includes calorie counts these days. As I am aiming to be a bit more mindful about how much I am consuming in a given day (and of what!) this is really helpful. Given that we're home so much, I haven't had an issue making time for meal planning and grocery shopping. When we get back to "normal" and time is taken up by events and other happenings, I would ABSOLUTELY consider doing a meal program through PLN. I look forward to the next time I can stop by, and would recommend for anyone in the area looking for a lighter lunch option.

Before coming to see Dr. Ann I had gone the day before to the emergency department at the hospital. She also gave me some supplements to help my gut rebalance. Within a day I was noticing a difference. After suffering with this for over a month that little relief felt amazing! Week after week the improvements kept coming and with Dr. Ann's keen understanding of Chiropractic and gut bacteria health I was feeling dramatic improvements. After about seven weeks I was one hundred percent. Dr. Ann and her staff were so welcoming. They were never pushy. They made recommendation and explained things very well.
