The real black mark against this paper is the way it is delivered when it is wet outside. The bags used don't keep the water out, so the paper is always water logged and useless. Not just at our house, but everywhere in our North Berkeley neighborhood. What a waste of newsprint! I am writing this in the hopes that someone in management will read about it and correct the delivery process so the waste stops.

i have been reading through the east bay express since i was in junior high as i would dream of th…read moreday i could get out and try the things i have read about so many times. as i got older it became more of bathroom reading for me as i seemed to mostly find it in or near restrooms. it became a very useful resource for great restaurants, music and movie reviews and best of all live concerts. the best part was they were right in my backyard. well ok just a drive down i580 or i680! i will admit it is fun to read the xxx, massage and all those great classifieds. it's always fun to get one of those numbers and call and leave them your best friends number. these days it's right outside the restroom at my work so all throughout the shift we find ourselves reading the east bay express when it gets on the slow side. ok we read it all darn night!

I did not agree at all with their Israel, Marine Recruiting Office, and other "progressive" stances, and often found myself flinging down the paper in disgust. Yet, I couldn't wait to pick up the paper again and read some more, especially Becky O'Malley's "holy" opinions and the best letters section outside of the Anderson Valley Advertiser. Broad and sometimes contentious political debate within the Fourth Estate can be free speech at its best. "To hold a pen is to be at war" - Voltaire Unfortunately, thanks to narrow special interest boycott (of which one of the leaders has his say below), the economy, and some payroll service fraud thrown in, the Berkeley Daily Plant closed up their print edition and went on line. So image my delight when I recently picked up a Copy Mat "newsletter" edition of the Daily Planet. "Great Caesar's Ghost!" - Perry White I devoured the issue and was left wanting for more. So whether I agree with the content or not, I hope that the Daily Planet is on the way back, and mindful of the Joseph Pulitzer quote that "Newspapers should have no friends"
