Met friends for a holiday gathering at the lobby bar (Keras) inside the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel. The décor was absolutely gorgeous; festive, upscale, and perfect for the season. Unfortunately, the service did not match the setting. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unhappy to be there, and it took 28 minutes per drink, which is simply unacceptable. The bar was extremely understaffed, and the gentleman bartending that evening was very rude, which created an uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere. (Dec 16th) While we truly enjoyed spending time with friends, it was clear the venue was not prepared for an event of this magnitude. There was no clear flow or guidance for guests, and many people were confused about how the experience was supposed to work. You were yelled at by the bartender if you stood next to the bar to get a drink. To make matters worse, the cost was extremely high - about $150 per couple for just a couple of drinks and a wood-fired pizza. For that price point, expectations are understandably much higher. Beautiful space, disappointing execution. With better staffing, training, and organization, this could be a great holiday destination-but as it stands, it fell short. read more

I finally had the opportunity to check out the Blitzen bar at the hotel. Located on the first floor is a decorated and overly festive bar. No reservation required however they do get busy. We ordered the holiday cocktails and were told limited time seating is 90 minutes due to demand. Lots of people taking pictures and selfies at the wall. They don't offer food, however there's a snack store next door. Otherwise a restaurant on the second level. read more

I went for a work event - that we planned. The hotel is so conveniently located to an airport. Travel in and out was a breeze. The hotel size is ideal for our event. Meeting spaces are close to bathrooms, elevators, front desk, cafe. My room was comfortable and spaceous. Even looking out at the highway it still was kinda pretty. Staff is amazing, Minnesota Nice is real my friends! Everyone was kind, cheerful, felt authentic. Banquet staff was super responsive to any of our needs. The food at Kyndred Hearth and Keras were excellent. Loved my salad - the one with blueberries - at Keras and we shared a bunch of items at Kyndred Hearth and highly recommend the mushrooms because that sauce is heaven. I loved my stay. read more

I wanted to post an updated review that I have stayed at Omni Viking Lakes on three different trips now (2 for business and 1 for pleasure). I still absolutely love the hotel and its location. I have eaten at both Kyndred Hearth and Ember & Ice and both are fantastic. I have also ordered room service with no complaints. My latest stay was for pleasure and I walked the trail outside the hotel as well as used the gym and pool! The front desk staff are so friendly and helpful giving you tips on everything to do nearby and also far. Stayed here as I was having a procedure at TCO orthopedics which was facing the back of the hotel. I got a great rate online, and it was January so the rates were good. I was able to check in early which was amazing. I signed up for the Omni rewards so I could get free WiFi, otherwise it's a $9.99 charge a day (up to $14.99 for more data.) I was on the 9th floor, facing the lakes and TCO. My room was very decent sized, with a small sitting area where you could put your luggage and hang your jacket. Inside the closet were two soft robes, as well as a laundry bag for same day laundry. They also have complimentary machines upstairs for you to do your own laundry. At the entrance there is also an extra pillow and blanket if you need it. The first right in the bathroom, I had a large shower, and very brightly lit vanity area. No tub. The vanity area also has a light underneath if you want extra light during the night. Next to the bathroom was the well hidden mini fridge, and on top were two bottles of complimentary water as well as a keurig coffee machine, complete with coffee and creamer. The mini fridge was nothing special. The room had a nice sized tv, and I had a room with a kind sized bed. Super cozy. Lots of pillows. My favorite part was the comfy oversized chair next to the bed. There is also a table and chair for eating as well as working. Inside the bed sjde table is a plug to charge your phone. They have an indoor pool on the second floor as well as a spa. Very decent sized fitness center. Mix of restaurants to choose from. Room service was super fast. They also have a little store downstairs when you walk in, which has sodas and waters and a host of other items. There is also plenty of seating room in the lobby. read more

The Omni should be on your list of top hotels in the southern burbs of the Twin Cities. It is new, modern, yet somehow cozy in a sleek way. The check-in process was quick and professional. The room was mostly great. Again modern with a Nordic comfy feel. The bed was that perfect combo of firm and soft with a nice comforter and 4 pillows. The bath has a huge walk in shower and 4 soft towels (I hate when you only get 2 towels in nice hotels.). The toiletries were nice. There was both a comfy chair and a chaise deal along with a desk and chair. The downside to the room was the lack of accessible plug ins. One of the nightstands had 2, the other 1 that didn't work. There were no plug ins for the desk unless you crawled under the desk. The bathroom only had 2. There are two full restaurants in the hotel, 3 places to get craft cocktails, and a market with minimal food and typical coffee options. Note, there is a pop up reindeer lounge in the lobby bar now that has great looking cocktails all in the $15-20 range. We didn't try any, but I would have loved to. The hotel is across a small pond from the Vikings training facility and has nice walking paths around the complex. This is a great spot for a stay before a flight or anything in the Bloomington are. read more

**BLITZEN Lounge at Omni ** If you've made your holiday pop up bar list, maybe consider skipping out on this one. Although the scene was set up to be all things adorable and festive- the service desperately needs a training day. The lounge/Blitzen is first comes first serve within the Omni hotel, so when we arrived at 4:30p on a Thursday evening we were pleased that the lounge was not lively- only about 4 other tables (10 guests). As our own group of 6, we were seated inside the lounge and brought waters and menus by the bartender. At about 5p we placed our order with a female server, and we ordered 3 wood-fired pizzas that were made and delivered from the next door restaurant within the hotel (they were delicious) and various cocktails including the Frost Bite (Blue curacao pineapple and coconut), Tidings of Whiskey and Joy (Whiskey, lemon, bitters and egg whites), and VaVaVixen (Aperol, sparkling wine, passionfruit, vodka). Two of our guests were not drinking and attempted to order one of the mocktails (Jingle Bells and berries) and were informed this mocktail was sold out. They attempted to order the other mocktail option (Merry Sprtizmas) and after not receiving it, the female server then let us know that was also sold out. There was ultimately a long wait and at one point we were wondering if we would be better ordering at the bar then returning to our seats. When we did get our cocktails (about 5:35p at this point)- they tasted wonderful, my personal favorite being the whiskey and joy. After over 90 minutes at the lounge waiting on drinks and snacks- the place started to fill up and also, we were ready to leave. Unfortunately, after requesting our tickets from the female server- we never saw her again. Luckily the bartender from earlier assisted us. The entire experience was chaotic and displeasing and luckily, we were able to appreciate the quality time we spent as a group. Overall, I would not recommend this holiday pop bar/lounge. read more

Pretty sure that I stay here so often that any day now these guys are going to make me sign a lease! This was a 5ni stay booked in the Deluxe King & upgraded to the King Suite. As usual, it was an excellent visit. On approach, the lights of Viking territory are your guiding beacon to an unbelievably large, free, open parking lot. (Valet service at the door if preferred.) Expect a warm greeting from everyone you encounter on entry. If you complete the pre-arrival check-in, everything is ready for you on the board. One thing to note is the online check-in says to grab your own packet from the board on arrival, but the board is behind the counter. If you haven't registered for the loyalty program, I highly recommend doing so. We arrived to a meat and cheese board, turndown service and chilled drinks. Our request for extra coffee was also already taken care of & our daily drink card requests were picked up each night, with a 9am knock & drop delivery daily. Spectacular service! There are convenient & tasty dining options on site, including a fabulous mushroom pizza & cocktails are top notch, well worth the price point. Online check-out is easy & efficient. Although we rarely have much luggage, staff always offer to assist. Today the valets even offered to pour coffee for us as we loaded up the car! Would we go back? Spa review - This was my husband and my first time at your spa and were having a staycation away from our newborn. We really liked both our services the facial and massage. We also really like the facilities . We arrived at spa at 1 ish so planned to have lunch at spa. We were super disappointed in the lunch options and what we got. We ordered the only two entrees on the menu - the cucumber sandwich and the salad. The cucumber sandwich was flavorless and soggy. The salad just blah! Also it would be nice to offer glasses of wine instead of just bottles. We did order Prosecco and a beer but were never offered to order a second glass. For a $50 lunch we were hungry and disappointed and left the spa before our appointments to go grab crackers in the gift shop. Besides that we were happy with the experience. For $700 I feel like it was extremely pricey but may come again for a special occasion when you hopefully have 2 massages available. We checked in for our staycation after in-laws visited us. My wife and I enjoyed nice massage beforehand at spa onsite. Staff made us feel welcome with birthday surprise for our son (cupcake and balloon). Our king suite room was really nice with 1.5 bathrooms which was nice. We recently held our wedding reception here. I don't recommend planning a wedding during a pandemic, but if it has to happen, this was a wonderful place to hold it. The staff was so accommodating. We held our dinner in the hospitality room which was stunning. We had views of MPLS/StPaul and the Vikings practice arena. Dinner, masks, and social distancing were all followed and everyone felt safe. While our guest list was considerably smaller than originally planned, the day was special and memorable and we thank the Omni for helping shape those memories. I can't wait to come back post-pandemic and truly enjoy all the aspects of the hotel experience. read more

Don't do it!! I had an absolutely terrible experience!! I went to check in and the reservation is not what I had on hold. They Mansplaned me telling me never to book online. Always call. I gave feedback directly via survey. Then I got a contentious email saying it again was my fault for booking online! So if you need to book here break out the rotary phone! Beautiful hotel and an absolutely terrible front desk director! Ruined my stay and proceeded to ruin my next day too with a jerk email. Check out the JW Marriott down the road. "Impressive". Could you imagine or dream about a hotel where you would see Viking legend players and current Viking players? I had this dream prior to staying at this hotel and at least this one time my dream came through. Viking players from yesterday's including Sammy White, Steve Jordan, Carl Eller and several other were staying at the hotel along with the current team and coaching staff. The service at this hotel was top notch and included daily room service. My wife and I love to travel and this was the first time having daily room service since the onset of Covid. Me and my husband take 1-2 trips yearly to the MOA. This by far has been the best hotel we've stayed out. Booking a room is very easy and there customer service center is very helpful if you run into problems online. Be aware there is a $100 hold on your card for incidentals if they arise. We were originally told $50 so it was a bit of a surprise, but not an issue. The refund was back on my card within 5 business days of checking out. It was a bit hard to find at first, but not overly difficult if you have GPS. It's close enough to everything without being to close. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They made sure to explain what they offered, what was impacted to COVID, and where we could find everything. They always said hi and goodbye when we came and went. I've had some my so great experience with hotel staff before, so this was extremely refreshing for me. The hotel is very clean and just has a very cozy feeling. I loved our room. The beds are comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are well stocked and have a great shower. The have very nice shower gels and shampoos. The mini fridge is spacious and easy to find/use. There is valet parking if wanted, and plenty of parking for those that don't want valet. The only things I wasn't 100% please with was having to pay for WiFi use. The room was already $200 for the night and I feel like that should have included the WiFi. I ended up just using my cell data while we were there. Also if you like a firmer pillow I recommend bringing your own. Their pillows are very soft, and not very useful. There also isn't much a view (at least not from our room). Even with the few flaws me and my husband have found our go to hotel from now on. We honestly can't wait to stay again. read more

Clean room, helpful staff, quiet hallways and neighbors at night, and Peloton in the gym? YES! I stayed here a week for work. It was a nice event space and place to rest after long days. I also ate in the restaurant, had the cater food there. All were great! I have a food allergy and when tailoring to a large group that can be a challenge but I asked one the staff if there was another option for me and they quickly brought one out. The valet was friendly and helpful. There's a pretty solid parking lot here too. Which is convenient. My only critique here is while I was here on business - if I were to try and stay for leisure I'd have my dog with me who is over the list weight restriction and doesn't stay in crates as an adult pup. The policy feels strict compared to other hotels I've seen. So I'd love for them to relax such a policy a bit. However- the actual stay I had was lovely and for work wasn't traveling with my pet so still 5 stars for sure. read more

The lobby is gorgeous and has a nice little convenience shop for grab and go food and drink. The hotel rooms were so clean and had all the necessities. There is an indoor pool on the 2nd floor that is small but great for some splashing around with kids. The Ember and ice rooftop patio was a great place to grab a cocktail at sunset. So as a business traveler schedules and flights have been a mess since COVID began. Had a trip to Eagan Mn that was canceled literally minutes before boarding with no alternates. Called to cancel the reservation that was just made that morning with this hotel and they refused to cancel charges and I quote from the shift manager " we're trying to make up money due to Covid" Really!? Well guess what, we just closed a deal to install a half dozen systems half a mile from your hotel- I will make certain that you are blackballed from our travel agent Ultimar, and Bruker service engineers and sales personal will no longer book with OMNi. If you think you are going to "make up" money you are so wrong! This should cost you dearly over the next year! 12 engineers over 14 weeks will NOT be staying at the OMNI.
