Our plan was to have the ceremony at the site along with the reception and for that the hall was perfect. However things took a turn for the weird the week of the wedding. I called down on Monday to see if it would be ok if we had pizzas delivered and figured while I was at it would ask if we could have a quick walkthrough/rehearsal of the ceremony the Friday before. we had the grooms dinner set up for 6 in Apple Valley, so I thought 5:30-5:50 then drive to the Grooms dinner. M.A. was not available so one of her co-workers called me back and gave us the green light for both items. in fact, the guy gave me the site cell to call so people could let us in that night. Thursday at 9:15 I get a call from M.A. (now back from vacation) informing me the guy was mistaken and the hall was rented all weekend, however if I could get everyone down there before 10am that day we could have the walkthrough then. Obviously this doesn't work for anyone with a job so I just moved the rehearsal to our house which wasn't a big deal. we also finalized some changes to the layout of the room which felt like a more difficult conversation than it needed to be. The night before the wedding, one of the ushers accidently went to the hall and it was empty, in fact, our bartender had brought the mobile bars out ahead of time. This was weird. The day of the wedding the changes we finalized with M.A. weren't in place so we just ignored it and improvised what we needed. No big deal, everything otherwise was pretty good. It was bugging me that M.A. lied to me so I sent her an e-mail that the wedding went well but pointed out that I was aware the hall was empty Friday and not booked out like she had said. What I received back in return was pretty awful. Instead of just admitting that she wasn't honest because they don't want to deal with rehearsals, M.A. basically justified her lie by insinuating that my wife and I are greedy people trying to take advantage of the community center since normally you'd have to pay to use the hall on a night you didn't have it booked. The words "Nothing is Free (my name)" was used at one point. It was pretty much the rudest e-mail ever and it read like a lecture of ever client she's ever been frustrated with, I just happened to be the outlet in this example. Now mind you, in our initial conversations the possibility of using the hall the night before was discussed and M.A. had said the only way to guarantee the halls availability was to book it the night before, no one at that meeting could recall her saying we had to pay for the hall regardless which is why I asked the question in the first place. What I still don't understand is why an adult would lie instead of just being honest about the rules about the hall. bottom line, the hall is nice, M.A, thinks she's better than you and will do and say whatever she wants and later justify it.

Our wedding night was literally perfect. George and his team are amazing, and we could not…read morerecommend them more. George was amazing from the start. He knows exactly what he is doing, and he is there every step of the way. He was willing to do whatever it took for us to have an amazing night. He truly cares about his couples and wants them to have a stress free, fantastic night. When Covid hit, George was very good at letting us know what was going on, and he was very flexible about moving our date with no charge. Despite the new rules, it was still the magical night I always imagined. Jana was our coordinator, and she was absolutely amazing as well. She made sure we didn't have to worry about anything the entire night. If she saw us or our parents without a drink, she made sure to ask if we needed anything. She even jokingly reprimanded me when I tried helping clean up at the end of the night. We had SO many compliments on the food and the GEORGOUS venue. George took advantage of the pandemic lockdown and people postponing their weddings in order to make a beautiful venue 10X more beautiful. The up lights, dance lights and the dry ice fog were amazing. The price George charges is definitely a steal for how beautiful the venue is and the quality of service you get.

This is my favorite music venue in Minnesota. The type of artists varies quite a bit so there is…read moresomething for everyone. The actual space is where they do the bird shows. It is concrete bench seating. Depending on the show most people stand. What makes this place so great is how intimate the shows are. Yet they always do a great job of getting relatively big name artists (Florence and the Machine, Buddy Guy). Yes, you do probably pay a little more money but believe me it's way cheaper than a show at the Target Center or the Xcel Energy Center and you're getting a lot more bang for your buck. Shows usually start around 7:30 and must be done by 10:30 so the animals can get some sleep. Generally it is gorgeous out and you get to watch the sunset behind the stage. They have food and alcoholic beverages for purchase. The only negative I can say about this place is that for me personally it is a little bit of a schlep. That being said if you ever see an artist you like is playing there you must go.

The Director, Kathryn was so welcoming along with her team - she provided some insights about the area days before arriving. This hotel is located near everything you would need for an extended stay, including one of the best restaurants ever - Southern Social!! This place had everything I needed - kitchen, free laundry, gym/pool, bbq pit, free coffee set up in lobby, free computer/printer, and extras in case you forgot anything. I highly recommend this place!!
