In the interest of fairness, the new rep, Cristina Holland, that took over our old rep's previous roles and responsibilities was notified of this review through her colleague and she reached out to us in an attempt to make things right. To that end, at least they care enough to keep up-to-date of any negative feedback if and when they crop up so good job to whomever that took the time to take notice of it and notify the rep that handles our account.
Between Sept 2022 to April 2023, Cristina has been diligently working to regain our trust and good graces, which I'll give her credit for. The old Epic Freight Solutions team have also been diligently keeping us up-to-date with shipments that we have occasionally been giving them here and there when it seemed the most feasible--like when all of our freight brokers are quoting us these outrageous prices to places that--again, in the interest of fairness--may probably be in the middle of no man's land but Omni has given us a few good price quotes on these off-the-cusps ship-to addresses thanks to their expanded network of partner agents so I suppose it all works out.
Shout-outs to Akeshiah, Elizabeth, Ben, Arianna, Kyle, Nina, Marc, and a few others whose names escape me at the moment but you know who you are. The one's who have been mostly the primary contacts for me and booking shipments--y'all are the real MVP's~
On that note, I cannot always say the same for the newer people that to me, I have never seen their names before but Cristina swears that they were a part of the Epic Freight team from the old days and I'm like "Well, it's your word against mine." Not saying she's lying and I'm sure that there were probably a few behind-the-scenes folks that never did client-facing emails or calls but of particular note, Ian & Michael, (domestic team), Georgia & Colleen (international team), I don't like so much. For whatever reason, these two pairs of people from their domestic and international operations team, they've been unusally difficult for certain common shipments that we've always done with them in the recent past. They tend to err too much on the 'going-by-the-book' rule and I'm not knocking the 'going-by-the-book' rule but if we were operating by the book, Omni wouldn't get most of our shipments but instead Freight Haven and our other brokers would probably get the bulk of it.
Most of our shipments are project-based so cost isn't necessarily the only factor but it is definitely a factor amongst a whole host of other factors: time, speed, consistency, immediate availability at the last friggin' moment, etc.
Bottom line, there's a time and place for 'going-by-the-book' and a time and place for when 'going-by-the-book' is just not a feasible approach. Knowing when to bend the rules is one of those special traits that doesn't come innately but through experience and exposure to a wide variety of uncommon, unusual situations that happens on the job.
All in all, this updated review is to acknowledge that Cristina at Omni did try to make amends and we are very appreciative of the efforts made to date. This review will be updated again should that change in the future but for the present, I would recommend Omni but with a bit of caution. They tend to be a lot more pricey than other brokers so plan accordingly. read more
