Appreciate their existence in the city of Killeen. However, there's room for improvements. Beef short ribs are fairly priced but the labeling is terrible. Most had incomplete prints. Missing "best by or packed dates"! Didn't have confidence in buying at that point. Plenty of empty shelves as well. Not much of a selection in cold alcohol either. This review is being left not only because of poor customer service, but because I still have unanswered questions regarding a transaction that management should review. During a recent visit to O-MART in Killeen, my purchase subtotal was $23.91. My receipt reflected $15.92 as "FS Tendered" and $7.99 as "Cash." However, I did not use cash, nor did I use a debit or credit card. My EBT account history shows that the full $23.91 was deducted from my benefits. As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to ask questions when a receipt appears inconsistent with how a transaction was processed. When I returned to the register seeking clarification, I was met with what I perceived as dismissive and unprofessional behavior. Rather than helping me understand the receipt, the cashier appeared annoyed, rolled her eyes, used disrespectful body language, and walked away from the interaction. What concerns me most is that a customer attempting to understand how their benefits were charged was treated as though their question was not worthy of an answer. No customer should be made to feel embarrassed, dismissed, or unwelcome for asking about their own transaction. I am requesting that store management review both the transaction and the employee conduct involved in this incident. Customers deserve accurate information, transparency regarding their purchases, and respectful treatment regardless of their method of payment. Until this matter is properly addressed, I cannot recommend this store based on my experience. read more

Came here for the first time. Being from Hawaii, can't really find fresh fish or a specific fish, but I was told this market had Uhu (parrotfish). I was happy to actually find it and the staff were nice enough to gut and clean it for me so my home doesn't smell like stink fish lol. Anyways, other than finding this fish, the cleanliness of the market is ok. It appears that they're doing a lot of renovations so a lot of their items were all over the place and they were missing a lot of items. My wife and I ordered Bibimbap and I noticed some fly eggs on the meat. We tried to explain to the employees about the issue but we were told that it was "fat" from the food. After I asked for a manager we were told all of them left and we were just met with blank stares from the employees. I told them I was taking the meat to the Health Department to determine what it was and its was until then they were quick to offer me a refund. As they were processing my refund one of the employees stated again that it was "fat" as she showed me a plastic container filled with meat that all had fly eggs covered around in spots. She then proceeded to place it back in the counter exposed to the open air with actual flies flying around. The audacity of these employees. Omart is one of the only Asian grocery stores in the area. There's pro and cons to this. There's not much competition, so they jack up their prices. We moved into the area from California, so this is really different for us. We were surrounded by lots of Asian grocery stores. They competed with sales and prices on products. It was nice. I also notice that OMART does not have some important ingredients that I need in my Chinese dishes. Like Chinese cooking wine. Searched at least 30 mins trying to find it. I ended up getting MIRIN - Japanese cooking wine. It will do as an alternative but the flavor tasted different. Yes I'm a stickler to keep my ingredients as authentic as possible especially making Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Disappointed! Anyways next time I go into Austin, I'll need to stock up on stuff I can't find in Killeen. Disappointing! read more

2 stars are for the service. I called to ask if they do curbside pick-up and the lady didn't understand what I said. Eventually she said sorry they don't do this. The store should really start this service if you want to Increase sales, especially during the whole COVID-19 time. Almost all major stores are practically doing this now where you can place an order and the customers will do curbside pick-up without any contact. I came here religiously during my short 2 weeks stay in Gatesville. The best bang for your bucks and the food was delicious! This review is solely for the Korean food place inside O-Mart. I did buy couple things from the market, but only came here for the food every time. One of my co-workers who lives in Killeen suggested this place to me. I was skeptical at first due to ....let's just say, when it comes to Asian food, I trust an Asian's opinion more lol. Thankfully, I'm not that big of a jerk, and did take his advice to come here. I have a bad habit of sticking to the same one or two dishes that I really like from any restaurant. For here, I got the galbi every time, not only because it's one of the best galbi I have had, but it's almost twice the amount of meat I would get anywhere else, for the same price, or even cheaper. My coworkers have tried the bibimbap and some other dishes, and they all said they were good. The only down side and reason y I didn't give them 5 stars is the damn flies that swamp this place! So bad to the point that one somehow managed to kill himself (or herself) by diving into my boba cup thru the straw. It was a sweet death I bet. I wasn't too upset to throw away half a cup of boba drink since it wasn't that good. Regardless, I will still come back here next time I'm in the area. However, the food might be better taken to go than to be eaten there. Oh, and make sure you call in to place ur order first around lunch time. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2017 - PART 3: 76/100 I've been visiting the Killeen area for over a decade now and O-Mart is really the only Asian themed store around. The only noticeable change is that they now have some sort of a food court inside. (It wasn't impressive either.) Otherwise, it hasn't changed much in every aspect. Appearance: same. Seafood deli: same (there aren't a lot of choices with fish.) Their KBBQ pre-sliced ribs tend to be expensive (there was a time they were selling it for $8.99/lb. We found thicker and better cuts at Sam's for half the price.) They have decent produce/veggies. But, yeah. They are a good place to shop for the basics. I just feel like they can make some improvements, though. It doesn't have to be a 99 Ranch, but maybe something like it (in a smaller scale, of course) might just help attract more shoppers. Sadly, they're the only real option for Asian groceries (that I know of) up in here. read more

My family has shopped for groceries here for years, and we have watched this store grow. It has just about every product from Korea, and more things from other countries. You can try some fruits and prepared dishes you don't normally see in American supermarkets as well. They have a large deli to include bulgogi and good fish. It's like a department store inside. You can buy clothes, purses, small furniture, artwork, dishes, and more to make your home feel like a home. They also have a photo studio with reasonable rates. They have beauty counter that sometimes it's hard to find help, and a barber/beauty shop. There is a coffee shop inside and BBQ place now. The Korean Restaurant has all the major dishes like kalbi and bibimbop which are both delicious. They won't spare the scissors if you need it. You can find it as it is right next to the barber shop. You order at the register at the counter first. Your water fountain is right there as well. They call your number when your order is ready and you pick it up at the counter prepared for you on a platter. Today, we tried the Ja jang myun which comes with a side of picked radish, raw white onion slices, and additional bean sauce. The dish didn't taste exceptional although it had finely cut beef in it, and the noodles were too heavy for the chopsticks. However, you will be happy with the portion size for sure. It's nice that you don't have to leave your grocery shopping to sit down and eat. The restroom areas need to be revamped, but those hand dryers are the best in the world. I've frequented Omart for well over ten years. I've always loved the restaurant and the store. They typically have many of the hard-to-find Asian ingredients I need. I also like that they have kitchenware and other household items. I was stationed in Korea for a year, and they offer some of the snacks and beverages that I came to enjoy while there. Several years ago, I purchased some platters from Omart that I've used so much that it's time to replace them. So, I went in earlier this week, Tuesday morning around 10:15 a.m. searching for a similar platter but with a different pattern. I grabbed a little hand-held basket and headed in. I noticed a female employee coming up the center aisle when I arrived. I greeted her, though she didn't oblige. I kept about my business. The first thing I did was go to see if the restaurant was open. It wasn't yet and wouldn't be open for about another 45 minutes. Since I like perusing Omart, I figured I'd go in search of my plates and then see what else I can purchase while I kill time waiting for the restaurant to open because I could never leave without my bulgogi & yaki mandu They had the same platter, but I was searching for one without color on the plate's food surface area. I noticed the employee lady several times but paid her no mind. She appeared to be tending to her business. I decided to take a bathroom break before continuing to look for the plates that I wanted. I headed towards the back, where I noticed an empty shelf. I set my empty basket on the shelf so that I could go to the restroom. As soon as I did, I heard the employee lady yell out ma'am, put the basket on the table. I turned and looked at her like what so she repeated herself. It's not that I didn't hear her the first time. She wanted me to put the basket on this beautiful table that was for sale as opposed to the shelf I had set it on. So, I told her I was only going to the restroom. She said, I know, put the basket on the table, so I did, and I went to the restroom. While in the restroom, it dawned on me that she had been watching me, following me, and had targeted me!!! I felt some type of way about that. I thought how rude!!! Once I left the restroom, I gathered the basket and headed straight for the door. I was so shaken and disappointed. She had no reason to tell me to move the basket. I hadn't did anything wrong, she was being a bully and unprofessional. To quote the Great Maya Angelou; people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel!! You may wonder why I didn't speak to management. Well a reasoned, she may be management. She's at least a representative of management. We live in some turbulent times right now and I don't have time to confront ignorance! Especially when I don't feel there will be a positive outcome! I confront ignorance by withholding my hard earned money. I'm sort of an impulse shopper, I had a good 40 minutes left to shop and I hadn't even gotten started. The only reason that I am giving it three stars is because although they have a variety of fruits and vegetables (the real reason I shop there), sometimes when I get my groceries home they contain mold or may be old. So, off the top of my head, I'll list what you can find: - Fresh Produce and Fruit: If you like durian, they have it in an enclosed case by the Deli. - Imported Specialty Items: You can find aisles dedicated just for soy sauce, seaweed, spices, candy, snacks, etc. Ramen (individual or bulk) such as: Nong Shim Shin Ramyun, MAMA, Sapporo Ichiban, etc. - Vietnamese/Thailand/Indian/Filipino section near the candy aisle. You can find items like Knorr Sinigang mix, Thai tea mix, tapioca/boba, spices, banh pho dried noodles, rock candy, palm sugar, etc. - Drinks: Korean Aloe Vera Juice (yum), tea, coffee, and canned Thai tea. - Barber/Beauty Shop: I sometimes get a trim by Kim here for $12. Make sure you watch her closely because she can get a bit carried away lol. - Cafeteria: Bulgogi, galbi, and yaki mandu is really good here! I noticed that their kimchi sometimes has a lot of ginger and is too sour. Tip: get the kimchi from the deli because it's better. - Deli: Located in the back, you can find: marinated meats, pre-sliced meats, pickled vegetables, and kimchi ready-made or in a jar. The employee informed me that the jarred kimchi is more fermented (sour) versus the freshly-made version in the deli. I prefer it fresh. So good! - Boba Cafe: Located by the entrance. I usually get the strawberry snow with boba. They usually don't put enough tapioca balls and you have to pay extra for it. (Tip: Chau's Cafe in the same plaza has more variety, tastes better, and is cheaper). - Seafood: Located by the Deli in the back, there's hardly any fishy smell that you would expect from typical Asian markets.
