We beat 21 other offers -- and after a year of search, it was actually the first home we offered on! Amadee and Martin educated us about the areas where we were looking (San Mateo, San Bruno), personally took us on house and neighborhood tours, helped us find a loan officer who was fantastic to work with and got us the loan we needed, prepared us for every step in the process, and always made themselves available for questions. While we were looking, they guided us away from homes in flood zones or in areas that aren't going to appreciate well, but also showed us homes that we ourselves may have overlooked. Most importantly, they fought for us during the offer process. We heard a lot of advice from others who bought in the area that you have to be prepared to have your heart broken, that you'll likely not get that one home you bid on first. Somehow that never happened to us, and I think it's because we had Amadee and Martin on our side. The house we bought was listed much too low and on their advice we came in with an offer that helped us survive the first round of bidding. From there, they worked hard for us with the seller's agent to help us secure a winning bid on the home. Twenty one days later we had the keys to our amazing dream house! Even after the contract was signed, they were so generous with their time and expertise, checking the property for any damage after staging furniture was removed, getting the seller to fix a few things, helping us find a mover, giving us recommendations for how to take care of certain aspects of the property, and giving us contacts for trustworthy small businesses. It's so hard out there to get a nice home without feeling like you were taken advantage of. I really feel like we dodged a bullet by finding someone so trustworthy and meticulous. When I questioned it, they were incredibly argumentative and told me to read my lease. There is absolutely nothing in the lease forbidding water use. As a retired, disabled veteran, losing this access makes basic upkeep incredibly difficult, and they flatly refuse to turn it back on.Massive rent increases with zero upgrades: They are hitting tenants with sharp rent increases (nearly $200 extra on a $2,200 unit) while refusing to update ancient, 20-year-old appliances, outdated countertops, or even provide touch-up paint. They dismiss old, deteriorating items as "normal wear and tear."Difficult communication: Unless it is a catastrophic emergency, getting standard repairs or reasonable accommodations approved by the front office is incredibly difficult. They turn down almost every request.Because they refuse to negotiate a month-to-month transition or restore my water access, I am forced to move out. Renters beware: they do not care about long-term, reliable tenants. They will raise your rent significantly while cutting back on basic property support.

However, my experience renting from Capital Realty was so terrible, I declined any support from them to find a new apartment and removed myself by moving out of my apartment I was renting from them. While Brett's daughter (who also worked for the company) was lovely, Brett was misogynistic, lacked empathy and overall generally disrespectful. Again, I would never work with Brett or involve myself with their terrible management and ownership.

Even the owner of my place doesn't think they do a good job. Most property managers are crap, and I think that's true here.
