Dr. Mak is very knowledgeable and was able to address the issues I had been experiencing, specifically chronic pain in my foot along with knee pain when running longer distances. I initially made contact with Dr. Mak because I had an upcoming marathon and didn't want the pain to hinder my performance. During our session it was easy to speak with Dr. Mak. He was welcoming and patient. He performed an assessment and with that was able to identify potential causes for the pain I was experiencing. He had me go through a few exercises to see if they'd help alleviate the discomfort, and some actually provided immediate relief. I usually don't write reviews for when I get PT but I felt like I had to after my experience with Dr. Mak. For some background, I've been working from home in tech for about three years now and I've been having chronic back pain for quite some time. Regular massages didn't really do the trick. He was really reassuring when I was telling him my concerns and problem areas. I really like how he has 1on1 sessions. I've had three initial sessions with him so far and I've felt so much relief. With my back, I didn't know that other areas of my body attributed to my back pain like constant tightness in my hamstrings and sometimes having tingling sensations in my back. I've been to so many other doctors, PT's, chiros, Massage therapists, personal trainers, and even priests lol hoping that someone could fix the pain I've had in my neck, shoulder, and chest. Gradually over the past 10 years my pain has got so much worse from all the manual work from my job and ego lifting that my body hurts from benching the bar alone. I honestly gave up on working out and thought that I'd just be broken forever and would have to give up all athletics. Dr. Mak is one of the best chiropractors in the game for rehabilitation treatment for injuries and performance enhancement for athletes! I initially signed up for his free movement assessment session because I was experiencing frequent shoulder pains most likely from weight lifting, tennis/pickleball, and boxing. Dr. Alex is phenomenal. I have had lower back pain for 15+ years. I have done every medical procedure besides surgery. Radial frequency treatment, to steroids shots, to frying my nerves, to even physical therapy. All these procedures have been temporary. I wasn't able to sit in my car and drive more than 30 mins without agonizing pain. Work was dreadful because I would be in pain all day. Doing activities with my 3 year old son, seemed like punishment because of the pain I would be in. I wasn't able to bend at the waist, let alone tie my shoes. When I first met with Dr. Mak, I, admittedly, went in filled with a lot of doubt. I had seen physicians, neurologists, and pain specialists to try and find log-term solutions to my low back and right-hip pain, due to bulging disks and aggravated nerves but the only recommendations I could get were pain medications and temporary treatments (i.e. epidurals). I even tried physical therapists but you typically only get 5-7 minutes with the PT before they pass you off to a "tech" to run you through exercises with little to no monitoring). I had become so debilitated by pain that even walking or standing for more than 20 minutes would bring me almost to tears. In my evaluation meeting with Dr. Mak, he was able to accurately identified the issue and probable without my even prompting him. He assured me that, unlike with my PT sessions, he would spend an entire hour in a 1-on-1 session with me to focus on and modify rehibition through movement and strength building. I decided to give his treatment/rehab program a try and it is a decision I will never regret. After just 29 session (1 more to go), I am now able to resume regular exercise, I have regained most of my previous strength level, and I no longer have any need for pain medications (I even cut-back heavily on OTC meds). At 61yo, my body once again feels like it did some 10-15 years ago. I am more active, have more energy, have little to no pain, and I've even greatly improved my posture and flexibility. It just takes a commitment to participate in the process (like 2-3 times a week doing about 30 minutes of work at home). There is no higher endorsement I can possibly give.
