If you're looking for a chiropractor who actually listens--and I mean listens like he's taking notes for a final exam--then you need to go see Scott Davis. My daughter recommended him--even giving him a term of endearment name which fits him so well--I'm convinced she deserves a finder's fee because my husband and I have been singing his praises ever since. What I appreciate most is that he doesn't pretend he's the wizard behind the curtain. He makes it very clear: you are the author of your own wellness. Translation? If you do the work outside his four walls, your body will thank you. And let me tell you--he was right. I had both hips replaced (yes, both!), and between his knowledge, his magic hands, and the exercises he gave me, I was back to walking in two weeks and teaching aqua fitness in three. So far so good! I was in the market for a new chiro and Scott was patient and knowledgeable. I really appreciate the fact that any questions or suggestions I had he answered. He even asked if there was anything else I had concerns about. It seems there's some pt equipment and recommended stretches or exercises to put you in the success of living a more comfortable and healthy life. It's very clean and new in the practice. I think the whole plaza is either new or had a nice renovation. They offer water and it smells wonderful in the office. Scott has been on speed dial since 2016 when I was referred to his office, and I've never had to look anywhere else! He's seen me through car accidents, sports injuries, and preventative tuneups alike. One thing I enjoy most is the time he takes to understand the underlying causes before he jumps into the adjustments. This chiropractors "stretching" rather than swift movement methods are fine, scheduling was easy enough. After a handful of visits we chose not to go back because of the method of tacking on extra charges and the response we got when we asked about them. "Would you like me to adjust the____" and if you reply "sure", he does not disclose that this 30 second adjustment is an additional double digit fee. When we got our bill and asked what the unexpected extra charges were, and stated that had we known that we would not have asked for the add-ons, he gave a flustered "you are taking the food off my childrens' table"! response. That's a quote. Our reason for going was because we had insurance and we expected a set charge when billed, not the various unexpected and undisclosed charges. This practice is like going to see a friend, not like going for treatment. Ruby running the front is completely awesome, friendly, smart and gets you in and out!!! The main attraction Scott is professional, knows what he is doing, yet treats like a buddy...and you can't put a price on that!!! We all LOVE Scott. I have sent many friends to him over the years because I have never been to a better chiropractor. Between what has turned in to weekly appointments for me (who other than me and my ridiculousness could possibly get hurt knitting?? ) my boys every time they start feeling off, or my out of state daughter that will schedule appointments as soon as she knows flight information. When I was younger my parents used to take me to the chiropractor. At the time I did not know what it was for nor did I care, however, as an adult now I totally see why it was important. I have been seen most of my adult life by chiropractors, I usually stick with one doctor until they move their practice or it is no longer effective for me to go there. Back in 2014, I was looking for a chiropractor that had an office closer to where I lived. The one that I was seeing was 45 minutes away, which was taxing on the body. I looked thru the YELP reviews and noticed that McMullin Chiropractic was in Los Alamitos and that it was a small practice. I made a appointment and brought my entire file with x-rays with me. I met with Dr. McMullin and I got a positive vibe from him. About two years later Dr. McMullin sold his practice to Dr. Scott. I was skeptical at first and was going to find another chiropractor. I had rotator cuff surgery in January, 2016 and never quite recovered. After trying PT, acupuncture, narcotics, massage, cupping, a pain management doctor, you name it, I went to see Dr. Davis. That was in March, 2017 and in my first visit he asked me what my goal for therapy was. I told him I wanted to be pain free or at least well enough to go to Greece. This guy gets 5 stars every day. I've been going to Scott for almost two years. I walked in with a 5 mm herniated disk that had been troubling me for a year and a half. Back then it would take me a solid 5 minutes to get out of bed and stand up straight. Sitting down for extended periods of time was also a painful experience. You never realize how long a Christopher Nolan movie is until you must sit through the whole thing with a herniated disk pressing on your sciatic nerve. At 29 ripe years of age, I was essentially waking up every morning, banging off the rust and indulging in big pharma's finest before starting my day. Pain was something that I had just started to accept at that point in my life. I wanted Scott to help me get to a point where my body could handle the activities that I enjoy doing. I came in, showed him my MRI and he came up with a plan. He took a conservative approach when it came to manipulating my spine. Do no harm, right? He worked in stretches and physical movements to help with the recovery. He taught me what to do, how and when to do it. I did what he told me, and it worked. The sciatic pain is gone and the mobility in my spine is back to what I know as normal. Prior to working with Scott, I had been to 2 different chiropractors, 2 physical therapists, a physiatrist, a surgeon, and a pain specialist. None of them could do what this guy was able to do. Two years later I am surfing and rock climbing again. I thought running was completely out of the cards but now I'm training for my first marathon. Today, I see him for prevention and maintenance, and I plan on being a lifelong patient of his. Scott Davis is the BEST chiropractor I have ever seen! I had spinal canal/cord issues in my neck that put me in the most extreme pain of my life where I actually lost the feeling in my left hand almost completely. It was recommended that I see a neurosurgeon if medication and chiropractic therapy didn't improve my symptoms. The medication my family practitioner gave me was almost a joke. Mr. Davis is extremely bright, patient, honest and personable. It was clear from the beginning that he was not simply eager to add yet another patient to his practice. He honestly cared about improving my condition. He read my MRI results and explained way more to me than my family practitioner ever did about my condition. Mr. Davis worked with me for about two months and after the first few sessions I had significant relief and improvement. He was extremely informative and knowledgable about my condition and provided me with additional stretching techniques I could perform at work/home to assist in my recovery. By the end of the first month I had regained most of the feeling in my hand. By the end of the second month I was 100% back to normal. I was hurt and freaked out and Mr. Davis just fixed it. I have seen my share of chiropractors and I could never say that about any of them. I can't imagine my luck in finding him. I have been struggling with pain from back and shoulder injuries for what seems like forever. I suffered a minor rotator cuff tear a few years ago and it recently had begun to bother me again during workouts. I didn't want to give up lifting but I also hoped to avoid surgery, cortisone or 50 NSAIDs a day. Willing to try something different, a college friend suggested that I make an appointment with Scott. Having gone to several chiropractors before, I expected to get an adjustment and be sent on my way; this was definitely not the case. Scott wanted to know all about old injuries, the kind of workouts I had been doing, examined my posture, did strength and flexibility tests and found that I have been rounding my shoulders due to injury and too much focus on chest/shoulder workouts. In our sessions, Scott did some deep tissue techniques on my pectoralis minor (painful, but in a good way!), gave me a stretching regimen, and helped me refocus my workouts to correct my imbalances. I've eased back on some of my workout, but in 4 weeks the pain is nearly gone. Scott's practice is focused on making you better, not on finding a quick fix. Highly recommended, especially for those with nagging pain and injuries or someone looking for a chiropractor with lots of knowledge about sports medicine. read more
