GYM TIME AND OIL CHANGE: A PRODUCTIVE DAY AT THE AUTO SHOP I called for a synthetic oil change for a full-size sedan car and was surprised by the affordable prices compared to branded places. I learned about this place when I witnessed a car accident in front of it. Unless you frequent this area or are recommended, you may not notice the business is here even though it's on the main street. This is a tire and auto repair shop. This review reflects the oil change experience. While they didn't offer top-off liquids, the service was swift and same-day, even giving me a chance to hit the gym. The customer service was good, though they didn't recommend changing the air filter. Makes me wonder do I always need a change or was I just in the habit of getting it changed or did Olympic tires falter. Overall, a positive experience, and I'll be back for another try. I really like to support local small businesses, so I decided to stop by Olympic Tires in Chula Vista while looking for tires for one of my cars that is currently not street legal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the tire tech mounted four tires onto four brand new aftermarket wheels that were still sealed in the box. The wheels were unboxed onsite and were in perfect condition. After mounting, the tires were submerged in water to check for leaks, which I appreciated. However, there were a few major issues. First, the tires were never balanced, which I was told would be done. Second--and more importantly--when the wheels were handed back to me, they were completely soaked from the water test. Because of that, I couldn't immediately see any damage. It wasn't until I got home, mounted the wheels on the car, and wiped them down that I noticed damage all around the lips of my rear wheels only. The marks look exactly like clamp marks from a tire machine. Unfortunately, when I brought this up, Olympic Tires refused to take responsibility and claimed the wheels were already damaged before I brought them in--which is absolutely not true. This was really disappointing, especially after trying to support a local shop and trusting them with brand new wheels. My advice to anyone coming here is to inspect your wheels very carefully before leaving, especially if they've been submerged in water. I'm still hoping Olympic Tires will take accountability for what appears to be a clear mistake, but as of now, this experience has been frustrating and costly. read more

One tire recently didn't make it to 3 months, I bought the new tires because they say they have to send the blown tire in to be checked, the lady said she'll call in a week, no call. Wheel was brand new with no scratches, once they changed the wheel it came back with MULTIPLE scratches from the claw machine and they tried to deny it saying it wasnt the machine and that it was my fault. I took my truck in for a bumpy ride coming from front right wheel. The employee said I needed struts, and so I paid for Struts. After I pick up my truck and I head out to Julian. I didn't make it to Julian by 6 miles. I heard metal grinding and pulled over and noticed my disk brakes were bright red and brake fluid was leaking. After a thorough inspection it was determined that the wheel bearings were destroyed, but not only that.... my brake calipers welded onto the bolts and could not be removed the traditinal way. They had to be cut off in order to remove front right suspension assembly. The costs for repairs and towing $1500.00 All because the employee did not inspect the wheel to see if it would rotate correctly without resistance. Instead he sold me struts I probably didn't need. When confronted about the incident the cashier referred me to the employee and he said he did what was needed at that time. They refused to reimburse me. I could have filed a complaint with State of California dept of Consumer Affairs and Automotive repair but I haven't as of yet. Taking responsibility for YOUR mistakes makes you a responsible business and has your customers coming back. I will NEVER return to this tire shop. That's all they really are is just a tire shop. I doubt that any of the employees are mechanics. read more

I have been to Olympic tires to have my tires fix when I have had a nail on them. Today, March 5, 2024, I rushed from work in downtown to get in on time for them to fix my flat. They have their hours posted that close at 6:00 pm today. I arrived at 5:42pm that is 18 mins before closing. They are already closing. I asked the lady at the desk or they close at 6:00 as stated on goggle. They said yea but that the mechanics were already closing. So then I asked her if they really close at 6:00 or earlier. She said they close at 6:00 but that the mechanics have to clean and do their thing. To which I said then they need to post they close at a different time and not a false time of 6:00. She said, in a polite way, that I don't understand that they need to do thing before closing. True I don't understand, just like I don't understand how they hire they mechanic just like I don't know how much they pay their employees. Just like I don't understand how much their rest of for this commercial property. What I do understand is that when a business give and post their times of operation then those are the times they are open for business. So I will no longer use this business for my tire service. There are so many other times places on Main street in Chula Vista and the blocks around it. I will go to them. Hope the other businesses are open during the time they post their times of operation. I will not recommend this business. It was super inconvenient for me as a customer. read more

I have been coming here for years for my tire needs, quick repairs of a patch, or plug. I had an issue with a slow leak from where they repaired the tire 2 weeks before. Popped back in so they could do it again. For some reason, the gal in the front office came out to the garage area to "over see?" What was happening. There was extreme tension between her and the garage crew, and it made for a very uncomfortable visit as the tension spilled over into her interactions with me. Her having flip flops on (which don't belong in a garage) and clean hands.... she was clearly not a mechanic and made me feel uncomfortable with her giving them direction on how to fix my tire. I am not sure I will be back because of my interactions with her and hers with the workers. I was also charged a second time. I believe that it would have caused even more issues, so I paid the $15 she said I needed to pay and moved along with my day. There was no apology offered for the tire not being properly repaired the first time. Just tension and an attitude she seemed even more annoyed because i unexpextly to her, understood the conversation she was having with the garage crew in spanish. There are 5 tire shops on Main Street, patronage should be more appreciated then I felt that day. read more

My front tire had a flat on a Saturday night. I checked around to see who was open on Sunday. I saw Olympic Tires was open on Sunday and called to see if I could direct my tow truck driver there. Luckily for me it was quiet on Sunday morning so they took my car in right away. They plugged the tire and I asked them the cost to rotate tires and balance and they told me $50 to do it all. $10 for a tire plug - can't beat that with a stick or a nail in my case. Everyone was nice from the technician to the front-office lady. Not sure about the post about not taking debit - they took my debit card although I think you aren't taxed if you pay cash. Take things with a grain of salt and check regarding those complaining and see how many reviews they actually have - they might be planted there from other competitors. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I would recommend these guys any day. read more

I went here to get my breaks put on and I got my roaders shaved by them, with in a week my car breaks down from a broken wheel bearing. When I took the car to the nearest shop cause I was out of town they told me the reason this happened is because who ever did my breaks over tightened my roaders. When I went to Olympic tires with my $1000 bill from the damage they admitted it was their fault and only agreed to pay me $400. I tried really hard to work with them but they refused to pay so now I'm taking further action. Don't go here their mechanics don't know what they are doing and they won't take responsibility when it goes wrong. read more

I would not recommend this shop. The customer service is horrible, the lady is rude and I guarantee if they make a mistake on your vehicle they WILL NOT fix it. Took my car in to to get serviced and the mechanic told me that the issue was the rack and pinion told him to go ahead and replace it if it was the issue came back 4 hours later and was told that my car was still having issues mechanic told me that he couldn't find the parts and that I would have to come back another day to get my car serviced as I was leaving the lot my airbag light was on and my horn wasn't working I told the mechanic and he acknowledged come Monday morning no one called so I called in the afternoon to ask what was going on the lady that picked up was not informed of what was going on and gave me attitude and I told her I don't need your attitude I need my car fixed and she just kept rambling on cursing at me hanging up on me and being very unprofessional my wife even called back and someone in the background told her that they could handle it referring to fighting she says that she's the owner very sad unprofessional and uneducated and Automotive she told me that the issue that I have with my airbag light and my steering wheel has nothing to do with the rack and pinion but little does she know that the steering column connects with the rack and pinion so you need to disconnect the steering column to the rack and pinion to remove the rack and pinion I know what I'm talking about because I went to school for Automotives she's very unprofessional and needs to get educated in the automotive industry my wife took it back on Wednesday and showed the pictures that another mechanic showed us and the mechanics at the shop acknowledged that it was their fault my wife went into the office and explained to the owner and she still denied a service knowing that it's a huge safety issue that my bet airbag light is on and my horn isn't working and my steering wheel drifts left and right and my car still makes a noise the mechanic that inspected it also told me that they did not connect the steering column correctly and did not put the clamp on the CV boot correctly they put it in the middle so that's why it keeps making a popping noise worst experience ever would never take my car here ever again if you're smart do not take it there because the owner is uneducated in the automotive industry walk away do not waste your money here now my wife is driving a vehicle that is not safe and I have two children in the car every day I pray that God that nothing happens to my family and hopefully one day that this lady can get educated and have a little compassion for people that just spent $700 to get their car fixed and their car is still messed up read more
