He carefully looked my spots over and determined they were nothing serious and asked if I wanted them removed. I did and within minutes I was back in my car. Come in, look at my face and give suggestions? Cost MAYBE $100? Is this like hair styling where it costs more if you have long hair? Questionable business practices verging on shady. Before you schedule anything here, be aware that they have two separate sides of their business that don't overlap -- a medical side and a cosmetic side. I called to ask for an appointment to get tiny cysts removed (milia, very common). I explained what they were to the receptionist and I've had them removed easily before at another business. They scheduled me with the medical doctor. When I saw her, she immediately said "Oh, I don't treat those." She said there was nothing she could do for me and I had to schedule with the cosmetic side. Mind you -- the last time I had them removed it took literally 1 minute with a dermatologist. Having wasted my time, I asked her casually about my skin and she gave me some quick advice (2 minutes total). I had to make a free consultation with the cosmetic side (days later). Scheduled an appointment to get them removed for more than $150. Surprise! I find they billed me for the wasted medical appointment for more than $140. What a joke! They refused to comp the appointment even though it was their scheduling fault and were very rude about it, not at all apologetic. If they weren't sure which side to schedule me with, OBVIOUSLY they should have scheduled the free consultation out of respect for my time and money. I bet this is a common occurrence there that they make some good extra money off of -- bad business practices and very unprofessional! Maybe even crooked. Do not go to this place!. Just went in for a skin check. She was not thorough, not at all polite, and certainly not able to explain my condition, (takes too much of their time, I suppose). She firmly said "I just told you." to a question about my condition. I would have cried after I left, if I wasn't so irritated and humiliated. It was the fastest skin check I have ever had. Her name is P.A. Workman, and I don't think she is in the right work. She probably does better with looking through a microscope behind a desk. Microbes don't talk. Sharon is the worse injector I have ever seen. First of all she over injected my cheeks and I think she did it deliberately because she did not want me to come back a third time. I'd seen her once and it was fine, then I saw her a second time. The second time I saw her it was for Botox and the stupid lady froze my face!!! I told her and yet she did it anyway and I paid for the extra units...which I promptly when home and used my NuFace to try to speed up the recovery...it did not work. (Although copper supplements did seem to help a tiny bit...maybe) Anyway, I was very unhappy but already prepaid for some filler. I went in for cheek filler and she over filled me and of course used more than my prepaid so I ended up paying more! It was a mess. I left there and the very next day drove 2 hours back to my previous injector, who fixed me up. I am rather certain Sharon over-filled me deliberately. read more

My husband, myself, and our 4 kids have been patients here for 20+ years. I recently called to make an appointment and was told our family was kicked out of the practice because I had a bill go to collection in 2019. I don't remember the bill, apparently it was under $100 so obviously there was something going on in our lives at the time possibly that caused this oversight. I don't have any collections on my credit so I must've taken care of it once I became aware. No grace. 20+ years, 6 patients, multiple referrals to the office, and we get no benefit of the doubt ... just kicked out. Unbelievable. read more

I recently moved from California to Washington and am on humira for my psoriasis. I needed a dermatologist asap since my insurance switched due to moving out of state, everywhere had a 6 month waitlist or was not accepting new clients, I was calling everyone and scrambling. Olympic dermatology returned my call got me in within a month or two and I've been really happy with them. Suzanne was my dermatologist and she is grea! She checked me out and all my concerns, did proper blood work for my medication and educated me on the Washington state regulations for my lab work. Got my medication refills back on track. I go in every three months for checkups and so far I'm happy. The staff is very kind, the waiting room is very quiet and clean, and they have Saturday appointments. I love that the only thing they addressed from my review was the initial phone call and simply indirectly accused me of lying. They didn't even say that they are confident they didn't advise me that they offer laser mole removal. Just generally they're confident that they don't. Okay - if you say so. Your doctors are apparently completely uninformed that that is even a legitimate service so it's a fair point, why would your front desk staff know differently. My recollection of the call was that the girl I talked to basically had no clue and kept saying I just needed to talk to the doctor about what they can/can't do. Incompetent, lacks follow through, and greedy. Needs improvement. Olympic Dermatology, Dr. Brazil's Office, 424 Lilly Road. I had an appointment with a physician's assistant in December 2022. I called the day before to ask that they include a skin check in my exam. I was told they would let the PA know of my request and neither confirmed nor denied my request. Incompetence, why because they ordered the prescription from the wrong location. I had to call Olympic Dermatology back and let them know the order was not received at my pharmacy and they needed to send it to the correct pharmacy. Lack of follow through because they didn't even let me know they had sent the script in and where they sent it to. Greed because even though I called the day before and asked for a skin check to be included in my appointment for the next day the PA decided not to do the skin check. The PA stated the visit had already taken a significant amount of time (probably a whole 12 minutes, I swear it did not take a half hour) and even though I was naked in a gown the PA decided it would be better for me to schedule another visit. At that visit a skin check could be done and a follow up of today's visit could be done. To me putting off an exam a patient requests, wreaks of greed and all they want is money money money $$$ rather than making patient care a priority. A different office, Dr. Shauna Richert's office, Dermatology and Allergy Specialists of Olympia, has a sign right in the exam room that says, "if you would like a skin check today, please ask." Now that is good customer service and shows they care about the patient. This office, Olympic Dermatology, declined to do my skin check even though I requested it in advance. That tells me they don't put the patient first, they put money and business first. GREEDY! My suggestion to Olympic Dermatology and Dr. Brazil is to talk to your staff and educate them on better customer service and concern for the patient and be less concerned about money and getting your patients to come back. I also suggest implementing a system notifying the patient in some way (text, email, phone call) that the prescription has been sent and where it was sent to. My opinion of this business is that they see you not as a patient, but as a moneymaker. read more

Annually (or so) I get my skin checked for melanomas, having been sun burned badly too many times as a youth. I stopped here to get an appointment and they offered to see me in a day or so later. Dr Brazil was not available and another doctor, Dr Jade checked me out. He was a delightful old school doc - my favorite kind. I got a thorough once over and a clean bill of health ("You have a few barnacles, but nothing to worry about!") All in all, a good professional exam and experience. read more

I could not have asked for a better experience. I am new to the area so this was my first visit and I couldn't be happier. I had 2 moles I wanted removed so I called in to make an appointment, they were able to see me within a couple weeks. I received multiple reminders of my appointment and even an email letting me know what my out of pocket estimate was. Upon my arrival the women at the front desk were kind and professional. I completed my paperwork and was taken back by the MA. She listened to all of my concerns and told me she would let the doctor know I was ready. I don't think I have EVER had such a short wait time to see the doctor. He came in and we talked for a bit and he looked over my moles. He said he can absolutely help me out and if I wanted to do it now. Absolutely! The procedure was quick and relatively painless, he talked me through everything that was happening and I was done in no time. He informed me they will be sent to the lab just to make sure there isn't any reason for concern. From start to finish I think I was in the building 20 minutes. So efficient and professional! Do NOT use if you have or had cancer - not good. The staff is nice and there was one staff person who was very helpful. However, the practice is not one I would recommend to anyone with a serious skin issue. Dr. Hugh Nymeyer didn't read notes my first visit and missed that I had had melanoma - that can happen - doctors are human. But the overall approach in his practice to the documentation and screening that are routine for cancer monitoring seem sloppy even beyond the first impression - patient notes are not accessible via the patient portal - you have to ask for them. And the very limited notes that were available were wrong or incomplete. His recommendation for screening is not conservative for patients who have experienced melanoma and does not match the recommendations of my former dermatologist (different state) who specilizes in cancer - I am changing doctors to one that speciliazes in cancer screening in Seattle - the drive twice is year is worth my peach of mind that I am getting the right experience and attention. Side note - The office billing and patient portal are the worst I've experienced. The notes do not come across to the patient portal and the billing (unless you ask for detailed which they have to manually generate) is 1 line and not submittable to insurance. read more

Warning Facial Skin Cancer patients, I was a patient of Olympia Dermatology for ten years until Dr. Brazil decided to blindly remove a basal cell carcinoma from my right nasal. It was first treated by his PA Jennifer Cozart in 2016 when I went into the clinic to have a small spot on my nose checked that would periodically bleed from time to time then disappear again. It was scraped and biopsied and the pathology report flagged it as malignant basal cell carcinoma. On 02/ 2021 I returned for my annual mole check plus my nose was continuing to flare up and bleed since it was last treated so Suzanne Magann performed Cryotherapy (LN2)and recorded the nasal area as Actinic Keratosis on right Ala nasal. There was no mention of the nasal having BCC during this visit. I returned in 03/2022 with continuous flare ups of the right nasal area. Suzanne said that I may consider a Moh's procedure and since this Olympia Dermatology clinic doesn't perform such surgeries they would most likely refer me to a Moh's specialist in Lakewood, WA. While I await this appointment I was called days later and given an appointment to see Dr. Brazil. I told him that I was surprised that I was scheduled to see him because the PA said that I would most likely have a Moh's procedure. His arrogant reply was, "Well, no one ran that past me." At that point I felt I was at his mercy given he was the doctor. He proceeded to numb me up and perform a Rhombic Transposition Flap of my right nasal, all while he narrates this entire procedure to a job shadowing Dermatology Fellow student. A week later when I returned to have the sutures removed Brazil then informed me that I would need to return in 6-8 weeks or later for a small revision as the pathology report still revealed BCC infiltrative in one lateral margin. It was at this moment I decided to seek a reputable Moh's specialist elsewhere. Thankfully I found a specialist in Seattle who completely removed the BCC, which left a large hole (size of an index finger print). Immediately following the Moh's surgery I traveled directly over to the UW Medical Hospital where a highly skilled plastic surgeon performed a procedure creating a skin flap from my forehead and cartilage from my left ear to close the nasal wound while I was under general anesthesia. I've had a total of 4 surgeries on my nose and 2 bouts of steroid injections plus I had to stay isolated for six weeks during the entire holiday season. Had I received the Moh's back in 2021 or sooner, the BCC would have been smaller and I probably would not required an invasive skin flap nor the harvest of ear cartilage and recovery would have been much shorter. It's a frightening thought to wonder what would have happened had I allowed Dr. Brazil to do the so called, "small revision" on my nose. read more

The way I feel right now, one star is too many. I have a history of melanoma. Transferred my records from Kirkland because we moved here and I got tired of driving to Kirkland. So I picked this practice. On my first visit for a skin check, every 3-6 months, I was struck by all the cosmetics for sale. Whatever, had my checkup, I didn't think it was rocket science. A couple more uneventful checks and I was thinking hey I am free. Then a family member mentioned the spot on my ear that I had for six months. So I got another checkup specifically for the spot on my eat. Biopsy came back, melanoma. Maybe they were thinking about restocking their beauty products cuz they blew right past my melanoma the first few checks. So, having my ear lobe removed by a plastic surgeon and won't be back. read more

Went in yesterday for a yearly check of my moles. I arrived 10 minutes early to my 8:30am appointment, checked in, signed paperwork, was called back, did the little chat about health history with the nurse, changed into a gown, saw the doctor, changed back into my clothes, paid, and I was back in my car at 8:34. Less than 15 minutes from parking to leaving. PA Magann is very friendly and easy to talk to, but I don't feel like I had a thorough exam. She looked at my face and pointed out a few spots that could be removed by laser treatment (thanks, but I'm here for a skin cancer screening) then quickly looked over my body and commented that my moles look round and not very dark. I was seated for the entire appointment. She did not have me lay down, roll onto my stomach to check my backside, or raise my arms or legs. My previous dermatologist measured things, had special magnifying glasses, and had me keep an eye on certain moles. Not PA Magann. Just, "come back this winter if you'd like to do a laser treatment on those spots on your face." If you're serious about skin cancer screenings, don't waste your time or money here. read more

I underwent the Exilis Elite Body Contouring & Skin Tightening procedure and I am very dissatisfied with the results. The treatment clearly did not work. I see absolutely no improvement in my facial skin and neck. I paid $3,050 for the 4-session treatment, plus $90 for the recommended face moisturizer, Epionce. I followed all the instructions provided by your consultant. I am a healthy 66 year old female and I was told I should expect good results. Photos of my face and neck before and after show no change whatsoever. When I went in for the initial consultation, I was told that results vary from person to person, but that I should expect improvements. I was also shown photos of clients with amazing results. The expectation set for clients by both the website and the consultation is that they will see results within 4 to 6 months after beginning the treatments. In addition to showing potential clients photos of extreme results, I suggest your clinic include results of people like me who show no improvement after completing the treatment. Your website should also have a section for your clients to write comments. Neither the website, nor the consultation, provides statistics on results to help clients make an informed decision. Had I known that there would be no improvement, I would not have paid such a large sum, nor gone through the treatments. Additionally, I was never seen by a dermatologist, only a tech. And there was a lot of pressure for more sessions and to purchase expensive creams. It was a huge waste of money and it felt like a scam. read more

I've been a patient here for 4 years or so and I've always been very happy with ALL the staff and doctors. Phone calls are answered by a person not a phone tree, receptionist s are great and usually remember your name between check in/out, doctors are always willing to listen and take time to understand and provide great care. Dr. Brazil is nice. My condition improved after seeing him. Unfortunately, it has not healed up completely, and I am reluctant to go back cause all they ever do is either put me on oral steroids or prescribe me a steroid cream. These things help, but they are pretty dangerous and don't work long term. I think I'm going to have to try something else. They do allow self-pay, which is nice, because I don't have insurance. It's also very hard to get an appointment with them. Schedule a couple of months in advance if you can. read more

I had a non-healing growth on a nostril; that is, it would crust & bleed then heal, then happen again. Dr. Brazil judged it cancerous (low-grade). Dr. Brazil did surgery that cut a chunk from the nostril with the growth, & cut a flap from the nearby cheek, to patch it. A fair job was done, technically. But, HOW the went, ruined it. They all checked to see if the area was numb yet, for the surgery to start. I kept saying it wasn't. Then it finally seemed to be numb a bit, so he started. No, he did not try to do better anesthesia, he just went ahead without it! It was quickly clear the area was NOT numb. I was gripping the chair arms so tight, it might have left handprints, tears streaming out of my eyes, face reddening from the trauma & pain, trying not to twitch any muscle, since he was cutting my nose & face. I went through that whole thing, with NO anesthetic numbing it at all. I was in a state of shock from that level of sustained pain. But NO staff evaluated that, not during surgery, nor after. The staff were all hurried related to the clinic schedule being so full, many patients based on shortest length of time they could possibly be seen....a mill, churning out quantity, not quality. The staff did not seem inclined to check how patients were really doing: I'd seen some stunned patients coming out of his offices, stand at the counter trying to make sense of what they were told while Not in any decent condition to handle appointments, meds, or finances. I felt very shocky, unable to think clearly, in a horrific amount of pain. I wondered how many other of his patients got cut into, without anesthetic numbing them. I felt the dr. & staff had done bad patient care/bad medicine. I had to sit in my car to wait til I felt stable enough to drive home. I would not risk ever going back to that office or the strange people working there...none of them took any kind of responsibility for doing torture upon this patient. And, they demanded swift payment for Their very costly services...yet I was one THEY harmed...none of them compensated me for bad treatment they did. They wanted my to leave as fast as possible...ya wonder? They chose to do what they did. I suffered for it. They got paid. Well, I have not been back in years..& let others know why. read more

I would give a lesser rating if posable! The doctor is fine but front office and billing people need to be replaced or stop telling lies. I'm on Social Security and always ask all medical offices if the procedure is covered and I did this before having a procedure done and was assured by front desk it was 100% covered and now I have a bill I have no idea how or when it can be paid! They also charged a copay that should not have been charged since the 1st one was for the procedure I had done. They say they are best clinic around, but my experience has been mediocre at best with them. I've had similar experiences as the previous reviewer; all they will give you are creams and if you beg then maybe an oral medication. I'm not sure why they are so resistant to actually giving you something that works. I had a bacterial infection and after the standard bactroban ointment didn't work they just said to keep using it until it did...Not the kind of care I would expect from their website description. I also have watched the interactions between people working there and they don't seem to have a very happy working environment...that's just my subjective observation though. read more

I had a very bad experience with this office. I went in because I had three pimple-like lesions on my face. At first I thought they were some type of acne. They didn't go away with normal acne treatment so I decided to call this office. Because of the pandemic I asked for a tele-medicine appointment online. I sent in digital pictures of the bumps and was seen by a PA.(Physician's Assistant) The first thing out of his mouth was that I needed to come in for a biopsy to check for cancer. Before even seeing me he proceeded to scare the hell out of me by mentioning cancer. So of course I made an appointment and went in. He did a very painful biopsy. Now, just for reference, in the past I had a mole removed from my face and it was sent out for biopsy as well. The entire growth was removed and healed perfectly. The biopsy came out benign. And it didn't hurt. Anyway when Olympic Dermatotogy biopsies this lesion they didn't remove the whole thing and they left a small lump there it's really annoying and ugly. They wouldn't treat the 2 smaller bumps and while I waited for the results of the biopsy (Terrified, because I suffered from PTSD already. I also told them about this and they were not very nice) the other 2 bumps shrunk down without any treatment and disappeared on their own. Finally after 2 1/2 weeks of waiting they told me they needed a 2nd lab to look at the results. Finally I was diagnosed not with cancer but with something called Rosai-Dorfman disease. It's a very rare disorder that medicine doesn't know much about. In some people it just resolves without treatment. Some people have the non-malignant growths surgically removed. I had mine halfway removed by this office. I've been really upset. Anyway, sorry to drone on, but if I have to do it over again, I am going to a different doctor and this time I'm only going to be treated by a doctor not by a PA and I'm doing it in a different office. read more

PA Larry did not listen to what I had to say about my skin issues. I've been having severe dry skin/eczema on multiple spots all over my body for about a year before I got a referral to be seen at this location. The front desk staff were quite nice, as was the MA who I talked to first. When Larry entered the room he was condescending and seemed almost smug. He told me to do exactly what I've been doing, which hasn't been working, hence the appointment! He made me feel like it was a "me problem" as he said multiple times that it was all up to me to get this fixed. I was very angry leaving that appointment, I would not recommend being seen by PA Larry. read more

I've been looking into getting Juvaderm lip augmentation, I've been researching places near me, and came upon Olympic Dermatology. At the time, I hadn't yet discovered Yelp, and so when I was browsing on their website through their reviews and before & afters, they seemed reasonable and talented for what I was looking for. Sharon Olson was the lady who performed the actual procedure. When Doctor Brazil came in, he took a look at my lips, I showed him what I was hoping for, he said "Yes, alright. Just don't be expecting Angelina Jolie lips" which I was aware of, even though that would be nice lol. And then he just left the room....I'm not sure if that was normal but it seemed unprofessional and rushed. I was talking to Sharon about the costs of the fillers, she told me that HALF of a syringe of Juvaderm would be $400. I asked her if they allow payments, she told me no. I was like..... okay well I really would like to do this since I'm already here, and I had much more money that I had saved up. I had my boyfriend come with me and while we were talking, he had to leave to go to an ATM to get more money because they didn't allow debit or credit, only cash in full. Sharon started preparing the needles, I asked about the pain and she said that it would "hurt a LOT" and she laughed when she said this, which did not comfort me at all. I asked if she could wait 10 minutes for my boyfriend to come back because I was nervous and she said very snarkily, "Uhhhh, no. I literally have another patient in 8 minutes." So during the procedure, it didn't hurt as bad as she said it would, I think I was more scared about the length of the needle more than the actual pain. When I looked in the mirror, I was pleased, and she told me that it would take a couple days for the bruising and swelling to come down. A few days later, my lips were exactly the same!!! I could feel the product inside of my lips, but there was no visible difference. Let's just say that I am VERY unhappy about the way I was treated by Sharon. I was rushed, mocked, discomforted, and I basically got conned! They stole my money and because of the contract that I signed, I believe there is nothing I can do about it. I can't tell you if the medical providers there are good or not. I never made it that far. But if the front office is a reflection of the back office, then I will take my business elsewhere. I have BCBS PPO insurance, which I recently obtained through my employer. I also have Tricare Reserve as a reservist. I didn't cancel my Tricare because the monthly cost was minimal to me and I figured I might as well keep it "just in case." So I get my referral to Olympic Derm and someone calls me to schedule my appt. One of the first questions I'm asked is whether I have any additional insurance besides my BCBS. Strange question, but dermatology always seems to send bills after your visit for lots of things that aren't covered, so I say well yes I do. I have Tricare Reserve. The person on the phone then immediately tells me that she cannot schedule my appointment because I have Tricare. I tell her to hold on, that there is no need to use Tricare then, just go through Blue cross. She proceeds to "explain" to me in a very haughty manner that "we choose not to accept Tricare because blah blah blah."
