    the menu of the restaurant

Arrived just after five for an early dinner. Seated promptly at a booth. The restaurant also has four tops and larger tables. The restaurant has a black ceiling and darker brown furnishings. Something brighter would be more appealing. Hot bread and butter arrived without prompting. The two sided menu has something for everyone. When asked, the server touted a couple chicken entrees, the salmon, fries, lasagna and the Hamburger. There's also pizza, blackened shrimp, deli sandwiches, Chicken Marsala and much more. We had the salmon and chicken souvlaki. We also had a side salad, broccoli and fries. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The gyro was plentiful and the grilled chicken was moist. The fries are steak fries. I'm not a fan of steak fries. I much prefer thinner fries. If you want a salad, the side salad is well large enough to be split between two. The server was pleasant and informed. Certainly worth a visit.

It's been awhile since I've been to Olympian Grille. We used to eat here perhaps a few times a year when our kids were younger and lived at home. Great for families since a wide enough selection on menu that kids would eat as there are burgers, yet I always order the gyro sandwich. I've been here with just Honey as it's one of the few, nonpizza sit-down restaurant in the Five Forks area back in the days . . But that was then, this is now Yet I came and met a friend for lunch and because I needed to be back home for a meeting, she opted for Olympian Grille since we were also talking about nutrition and diet for thyroids, and she was looking for a place with salads . . . Umm, aren't salads what you eat before the meal? We were meeting at 11 am and I suppose, they don't open the doors until 11 am. We were both sitting in our cars texting each other not realizing we were both early in the parking lot but watching the ever-growing crowd of elderly women gathering at the door. Let this be proof that it's NOT women who are the cause for couples arriving late . . . She and I were early, and all of those other women were early for their lunch dates and in case people were wondering, there was no special early bird or ladies lunch deal going on. It's simply wonderful to just be able to jump in the car and meet up with friends, not, having to pack a diaper bag, or write the many what-if emergency phone numbers or worst case scenario for the babysitter . . We weren't really told anything so as the big crowd of ladies went into the back room, those party animals, we went to sit at a booth, and those booth chairs are still as worn down with the rump ruts as before, or maybe more by now. . . I had my laptop to view her lab results (I am not a doctor, just a geek who loves data) and discovered there was no free wifi but at least I had already downloaded. Our server came, gave us our menu, took our drink (water order) and asked what we wanted to order . . Whoa, Bessie, it takes me that much time to put on my glasses . . Oh, and her name is not Bessie, or maybe but she never introduced herself . . She was very sweet, and we learned she just finished her freshman year of college. I can give you more details as apparently I can get people to share lots of themselves EXCEPT their name . But, I ended up getting the Gyro sandwich, didn't I say always?! With the fries . . . No judgement . . And my friend had salad with gyro meat on top as she learned she need those proteins! I'll be honest, the fries with the best part of the meal. The gyro meat was not real tender and though she brought the sauce to dip in, it wasn't that real mouthwatering tender meat. Our glasses were refilled once and was then given our checks. The food was okay, the service was fair but she was friendly though slightly reserved There are lots of options, including pizza, hamburger, and several types of salads If you have a big group, this may be an ideal spot if you don't need it to be fancy. And if you are looking for some side job, they have hiring signs on the door. I hope it's not the same sign as when my middle was looking for a job when she was in high school . . . And filled out the application and never heard from them, but that's from long ago.

However, I've…read morenoticed some recent changes that prompts pause Over the past 3-4 Sundays, the restaurant has run out of eating utensils, which is quite frustrating. While there are tables available, many still have dishes left by previous patrons, Additionally, the wait for food can easily exceed 30 minutes, and entrees often arrive one at a time. This means some members of your party will need to courteously wait until all can start eating together. These issues are relatively easy to fix. Investing in more utensils would be a simple solution; for around $150, the restaurant could purchase enough for several settings. It would also help to hire someone dedicated to clearing tables, allowing the cashier to focus on going their job and assisting with food prep and delivery. I hope the management takes these suggestions into consideration so that this great spot can get back to its usual high standards!

The gyro pita was warm, but not really the savory grilled flavor I expected and was rather dry. The meat was somewhat dry too. The combination left me thinking that the meat to pita ratio leaned way too far towards the pita overwhelming the meat and the sandwich was not only dry, but imbalanced. This was served with chips and a side, I chose the tomato/cucumber /feta salad. It was good, as expected. The service is order at the counter and receive a number, the meal will be delivered to the table when ready. Served with silverware and in a basket or bowl (salads), leave your dishes on the table, they clear the tables for you. The restaurant is very loud when full or near capacity. This is an okay lunch to me, but I would return here only for convenience and not for the food/flavors. Better options are very close by this location.

The one thing I would offer as constructive criticism is really watch the amount of dry oregano you add after the fact. Most of what we received had more than a dusting, which isn't pleasant with dried herbs. (Note, I love oregano and cook with it all the time. This was just excessive). The other thing I would note is there isn't that spirit of hospitality when you are there, which is what the Greeks are known for. Service was I'd say a bit below average- for example, we ordered a bunch of appetizers, and were done with quite a bit of it. When our food came out the waitress tried to deliver all the food on an already crowded table. We had to ask her to remove the dirty, empty plates first. We also had people run out of water, and she never came back to refill. The other thing was it was clearly a celebratory dinner. It would have been nice to at least ask what was going on. Not looking for anything, but typically a server would at least chat you up. All that said, we will be back and recommend this place to others. Would just recommend tasting the food before it does out to make sure its not caked with dried oregano, and bring a little more of that Greek spirit to the business.

The lady started friendly but seemed cold when I looked at iPad to review the bill. We ordered 2 sandwiches- 1 gyro and 1 shawarma. It CLEARLY on the menu says it comes with a side of fries, Greek salad, hummus, pita etc. Nowhere does it mention an up-charge for anything. I saw it said +$2.50 for each of the sides we asked for with the sandwich. I questioned this and she gave me a face like "how dare I question?" And just said "nothing is included with Sandwich, even fries". It literally contradicts what is on the menu! She said she'll tell her manager. Anyway- that was weird. Also, on the mixed grille it came with the tiniest pieces of pita, almost offensive, given the price. The entrance feels nicer for a take out place with the fake plants on the walls, but the back is closed off and the bathroom is dirty. Overall, I'd really only go for take out. And know they're cheap and will nickel and dime you.

The Jerusalem Kabob was perfectly seasoned and the Lamb Chops were cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. The rice was different than I was used to, it had raisins in it.
