    the menu of the restaurant

Arrived just after five for an early dinner. Seated promptly at a booth. The restaurant also has four tops and larger tables. The restaurant has a black ceiling and darker brown furnishings. Something brighter would be more appealing. Hot bread and butter arrived without prompting. The two sided menu has something for everyone. When asked, the server touted a couple chicken entrees, the salmon, fries, lasagna and the Hamburger. There's also pizza, blackened shrimp, deli sandwiches, Chicken Marsala and much more. We had the salmon and chicken souvlaki. We also had a side salad, broccoli and fries. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The gyro was plentiful and the grilled chicken was moist. The fries are steak fries. I'm not a fan of steak fries. I much prefer thinner fries. If you want a salad, the side salad is well large enough to be split between two. The server was pleasant and informed. Certainly worth a visit.

It's been awhile since I've been to Olympian Grille. We used to eat here perhaps a few times a year when our kids were younger and lived at home. Great for families since a wide enough selection on menu that kids would eat as there are burgers, yet I always order the gyro sandwich. I've been here with just Honey as it's one of the few, nonpizza sit-down restaurant in the Five Forks area back in the days . . But that was then, this is now Yet I came and met a friend for lunch and because I needed to be back home for a meeting, she opted for Olympian Grille since we were also talking about nutrition and diet for thyroids, and she was looking for a place with salads . . . Umm, aren't salads what you eat before the meal? We were meeting at 11 am and I suppose, they don't open the doors until 11 am. We were both sitting in our cars texting each other not realizing we were both early in the parking lot but watching the ever-growing crowd of elderly women gathering at the door. Let this be proof that it's NOT women who are the cause for couples arriving late . . . She and I were early, and all of those other women were early for their lunch dates and in case people were wondering, there was no special early bird or ladies lunch deal going on. It's simply wonderful to just be able to jump in the car and meet up with friends, not, having to pack a diaper bag, or write the many what-if emergency phone numbers or worst case scenario for the babysitter . . We weren't really told anything so as the big crowd of ladies went into the back room, those party animals, we went to sit at a booth, and those booth chairs are still as worn down with the rump ruts as before, or maybe more by now. . . I had my laptop to view her lab results (I am not a doctor, just a geek who loves data) and discovered there was no free wifi but at least I had already downloaded. Our server came, gave us our menu, took our drink (water order) and asked what we wanted to order . . Whoa, Bessie, it takes me that much time to put on my glasses . . Oh, and her name is not Bessie, or maybe but she never introduced herself . . She was very sweet, and we learned she just finished her freshman year of college. I can give you more details as apparently I can get people to share lots of themselves EXCEPT their name . But, I ended up getting the Gyro sandwich, didn't I say always?! With the fries . . . No judgement . . And my friend had salad with gyro meat on top as she learned she need those proteins! I'll be honest, the fries with the best part of the meal. The gyro meat was not real tender and though she brought the sauce to dip in, it wasn't that real mouthwatering tender meat. Our glasses were refilled once and was then given our checks. The food was okay, the service was fair but she was friendly though slightly reserved There are lots of options, including pizza, hamburger, and several types of salads If you have a big group, this may be an ideal spot if you don't need it to be fancy. And if you are looking for some side job, they have hiring signs on the door. I hope it's not the same sign as when my middle was looking for a job when she was in high school . . . And filled out the application and never heard from them, but that's from long ago.

We got several dishes and shared and weren't overly impressed with anything. The lasagna stood out the most, in a bad way. It has some sort of cumin or Mexican flavoring, which reminded us more of an enchilada. The whole concept of waiting outside an hour prior to opening, seems like a way of making it more exclusive but we found it as disorganized as it sounds. We got there at 4pm, for a 5pm open. We were the 3rd in line, yet everyone just pushes through the moment the door opens. It's got a little rough battling through the crowd trying to fight for a table. Once you get in you have to wait 20 mins just to get a drink order in and then it's quite a long wait to order your meal, get the meal and get the check. Not sure why a traditional reservation system wouldn't be mor efficient for everyone, including the staff. Needless to say, we won't be back.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and you can tell it's family-run with pride. I ordered the veal Parmesan, and it was absolutely perfect--tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. My wife had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, and she couldn't stop raving about how creamy and rich the sauce was. Every bite was full of flavor, and the shrimp were fresh and perfectly cooked. We'll definitely be coming back! Highly recommended!

We started with the focaccia, meatballs, and autumn vegetable panzanella. The focaccia is a must try! For entrees we got the Campanelle with pork ragu, spaghetti carbonara, and potato gnocchi. Not exactly la dolce vita. Thankfully, carbs save the day. Everything was house made. The handmade pasta was made with flour flown in from Italy! I had the casarecce which had light and well-balanced bacon and lemon flavors. My date had the the "whole" branzino, which despite described as "whole" came already de-boned and without the head. It was crispy, golden, and serving main character energy with its unique presentation. Frutti di mare was... there. I didn't think the flavors were anything to write home from Italy about. Though, the presentation was impeccable, I must admit. Whitney, our server, deserves a standing ovation! She was part waitress, part Italian food narrator, and made every dish sound like it had a backstory which honestly just elevates the whole experience. And the lemon cheesecake is worth saving room for. Flavors were bright, dreamy, and worth every calorie. My only regret is skipping the house-made focaccia.

We took our time settling in and started with the mozzarella and focaccia (so good!) and the meatball--because you can't visit an Italian place without the essentials. For our mains, we ordered the short rib ragu and the verde lasagna. The lasagna was especially memorable--you could really taste the fresh spinach, which gave it a light, refreshing flavor. To top it all off, the wonderful Mr. Flannegan came out to sing "Happy Birthday" and brought their amazing cannoli. Such a fun and memorable touch to an already fantastic meal!

It was very clean, and the atmosphere is one of its strongest assets. We sat outside overlooking Fluor Field, which made for a really enjoyable setting. The outdoor patio was comfortable, and the new awnings provided great shade, making it easy to relax even in the sun. Service was excellent from start to finish. Attentive, and professional. No complaints there at all. For drinks, I ordered a carajillo, which was very well done. The food is where things started to fall short. We began with the long hot stuffed peppers. The dish only comes with two peppers, so the portion felt a bit small. The sausage itself was decent, but it was severely lacking seasoning, and the sauce didn't add much to elevate it. The verde lasagna followed a similar trend. The pasta itself was clearly good quality, but the overall dish was underwhelming and lacking depth of flavor. The scallop dish was the best of what we tried. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the asparagus was fresh, and the risotto had a good texture. Unfortunately, even here, the dish still felt like it was missing seasoning and bold flavor, which was a recurring theme throughout the meal. Given the upscale setting and prime location, expectations are understandably higher and so are the prices. That said, the portion sizes and overall flavor didn't quite justify the cost in my opinion. Overall, a great location with excellent service and ambiance, but the food needs more seasoning and depth to truly match the setting and price point.
