We stopped for a late lunch in Gowanda, NY and we were delighted by this gem, out in the middle of nowhere. Service was very fast, and it seemed like everyone knew each other. Although there are no stuffed grape leaves or yogurt dip on the menu, breakfast is served all day, and there is avgolemeno soup, Greek salad, spanakopita, and gyro wrap or platter. All portions are *huge*. Neither of us could finish our portions! The side of Greek potatoes was nice and garlicky, with an undertone of oregano. If there's baklava in the dessert case, be sure to try a piece: Ours was full of butter, honey, walnuts and a hint of cinnamon. This place is a decent, fairly standard Greek diner in Gowanda. The gyro is actually lamb and beef, the prices are fair, the food is good. It's kind of like having a better Denny's that closes super early (like 8pm). So far, I haven't had any complaints with anything I've ordered, but I will state that the fries are bangers, so add an order on if you come! Nestled in the heart of Gowanda. The portions are adequate and the prices are fair and reasonable. We never overpay or feel hungry after eating. It's good for the wallet and the stomach. I like the fish fry and French Onion soup. The greek potatoes are pretty tasty as well. It looks like it was recently remodeled inside, but we haven't eaten inside of there recently. We have been getting take out. When we call to order it only takes about 30 minutes for our food to be ready. When we go to pick up the food, the service is fast and friendly. The jalapeno burger was really tasty and made exactly how I wanted it. Definitely recommend you check it out if you're in the area. read more

My friends and I stopped at Olympia for breakfast on our way home from a weekend at the cabin. I just love Greek restaurants. Never had a bad meal at one. There were 8 of us and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table. Our waitress was so nice and personable. The food was perfectly cooked. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with home fries and crispy bacon. It was yummy. They have this really different waffle on the menu that is a caramel and banana concoction served with whipped cream. That was a big hit with the customers. I hope to go back there next October. read more

I have dined here often with my husband and never been disappointed..... until Sunday the 9th of October. Instead of our usual choice of chicken souvlaki dinner with Greek potatoes, we both chose one of the daily specials ..... chicken and biscuits. How can you ruin that? The service was prompt but inattentive. We barely started our salads when the special entrée appeared. The portion was small, considering the souvlaki always filled the plates to heaping. There were five teeny tiny slivers of chicken swimming in a cream sauce with a few (I could count those, too) frozen vegetables over the tops of four halves of biscuit. The chicken was tepid, the sauce was barely lukewarm, and the biscuits were icy cold. No wonder we received the food in less than five minutes ...... apparently it was just scooped as an afterthought without heating it at all. If it is a Sunday Special, at least make sure it lives up to its promotion! read more

Went in on a Sunday around noon and found it wasn't busy at all. However, our order took almost 35 minutes to be served. There were three of us. The blonde female server seemed totally preoccupied and not too interested. We had to ask for more coffee and she never asked if we wanted more tea or water. The chicken wrap was small with no sauce on it. We had asked for medium. For the money, it was not worth the 35 minutes we waited. The server never asked how we wanted the burger cooked, so of course it came to the table extremely well done and dry. We would have sent it back but after waiting 35 minutes for it to arrive, we didn't bother. I ordered the spinach pie platter, which is always a favorite of mine. This time, I requested that the Greek salad be put on separate plate, away from the hot spinach pie and potatoes. The server told me the cook was refusing to do that. Seriously?? And when my order arrived, the spinach pie, which was very small, flat and cold, was almost totally covered by the cold salad. The Greek potatoes were in a separate dish and they too were cold and there weren't very many of them. I asked our server for tzitziki sauce for my pita bread but she never showed up with it. We are easygoing people and are the first to understand service may be lacking when a restaurant is extremely busy. However, there was just no excuse this time around. There must be new owners because it's definitely not the same great place we visited last year. Rudeness, poor service and tasteless food are the reasons we won't be back. read more

Good coffee, sweet staff, big portions! Popped up to Gowanda for a yard sale I saw in the Jamestown newspaper, then wanted breakfast. I didn't know that this Olympia diner was owned by the same folks as the one out near Niagara Falls. Had fresh Greek marinated chicken breast tenders with eggs, grilled pita, and home fries. Olympia is a decent place to grab a quick bite to eat. I stopped in for breakfast for an omelette and it came out quick, hot and of course tasty. Served with home fries and toast. I have been sitting here for a half hour. My group and I had no choice but to sit at a dirty table. We haven't gotten menus or drinks. Better yet have been completely ignored by staff. There were 7 tables of people when we got here. Now there are 4 tables of people. The two small groups who have come in after us already have their food. I'm honestly very disappointed. The service is the worst. I won't be recommending this place to anyone ever. read more

We were in the area for business for several days and were thrilled to find this gem of a restaurant. The menu has Greek, Italian and American offerings and the portions were huge! We were there for breakfast one morning and the chef not only cooked our breakfast, he served it to us as well. Desserts were a constant temptation. Homemade pies, rice pudding and baklava. As a long time resident of the area I have eaten at this restaurant many times. Every since the recent remodel I have noticed a significant loss of quality of the food. Sometimes served cold and the home fries are closer to hash browns and nearly inedible. In addition the service is becoming poor. It may be because of a lot of turnover of employees. They are poorly trained and lack sufficient staff during busy times - no apparent supervision on site. read more
