I sprained my ankle today so I called saying I probably wouldn't make it in to my appointment. Virginia encouraged me to have my husband drive me so Dr. Royal could adjust my ankle so it could heal properly. Who would of thought an adjustment there would help too!? When I got there, Dr. Royal offered to help me back to the closest room immediately. Upon inspection, my foot was waaaay out. He adjusted it and gave me advice on how to take care of it at home and said it'll shape up great. I get a lot of positive affirmations and healing words, which helps me heal right along with the adjustments. I always feel better and have less pain walking out of Olympia Chiropractic Center. Dr. Royal is professional, friendly and very considerate. Especially when he cracks my neck and my scarf falls off, he tries to help and slowly puts it back in place or just turns around so I can put it back on and continues with our session. He's sometimes funny but is always professional in his work. You can tell he's very knowledgeable and gets excited when he talks about what he does and how he can help. Definitely someone who loves his job. The girls up front, Virginia and Christy, are definitely the sweetest and friendliest faces to deal with. They care about their job and are very personable. I have been suffering with a neck and upper back issue for over a decade. Going to my doctor and having x-rays and MRIs but nothing for a treatment plan except muscle relaxers and pain meds if I wanted them (I always declined them). Finally my doctor made a referral to a chiropractor. I have a bachelors degree in exercise physiology and was a personal trainer for a long time so I'm pretty knowledgeable about anatomy. My first visit with Dr. Royal I learned a lot about what is going on with my own body which surprised me. Comfortable space. Friendly, welcoming staff. What more can you ask for? Oh yeah... An awesome massage therapist. I came in with a strained, and very painful, trapezius. Erika did a great job of working all of the tension in all of the muscles in my back, shoulders, and neck. She didn't just rub on the injured trapezius she worked it and all the muscles surrounding and supporting it. Ouch and awwwwwwww! The room had natural light coming in and was perfectly heated... With soft, relaxing music playing. All of the elements to allow yourself to relax (except I don't). Perhaps one of the things I most appreciated was while Erika was explaining where the tension was coming from, and how to treat it between sessions, I sat up and she told me to lie down and relax. Best chiropractor I've seen. I am in my 50's and I have actually gotten taller since I started seeing Dr. Royal. There is a low ceiling in one corner of my house where I like to stand and stretch. I used not be able to touch the ceiling while standing flat-footed. Then, one day after visiting Dr. Royal, I was stretching and I touched the ceiling. My mother-in-law used to have terrible knee-pain just from walking, and especially going up stairs. She was to where should could barely walk down her driveway and back. After training for Army Special Operations I ended up really injuring myself and came to them without the ability to run longer than a half mile or even walk/sit without pain. I came to Dr Royal for back pain I've been experiencing. He did X-rays and told me in order to correct the problem I would need a somewhat intensive course of treatment which consisted of 3 visits per week and nearly $1700. He so graciously let me split it into two payments because apparently they "aren't set up for payments at the time of visit". He basically had me terrified I was going to end up crippled so I paid the first $800 and proceeded to see him for the first week. After week two I met someone who told me I should really get a second opinion because she had a similar situation with another chiropractor. So I decided to go get a second opinion. And while the second chiropractor did find some of the same issues that Dr Royal found, he also said his course of action was completely unnecessary and it wasn't nearly as bad as he was making it out to be. Before I carry on, I will also mention that he pushed for me to bring my daughter in because he could fix her ear infections with an adjustment, but asked me not to mention it to anyone, which I also thought was strange. But take that however you will So yesterday I decided to email his office and explain that I felt I had been taken advantage of and would like a refund for the future appointments, I have only seen him 4 times and have given them a total of $821. No response. Mind you every single time I have contacted them via email they have responded immediately, until now. I decided to do something digging and found another review on yelp from a woman who ironically had the exact same diagnoses as me and also had a second opinion done with the same outcome as myself. Lucky for her she was smart enough to get the second opinion before handing over almost $1,000. I think Dr Royal does a really great job at zeroing in on what's important to you and using that to his advantage. It's been an extremely unfortunate situation for myself (and my wallet too, considering I have not received any sort of response on the refund I requested) and my best advice for anyone wishing to visit this office is to get a second opinion before throwing our whole saving account at them. I'm a veteran and have been dealing with chronic back pain for years. After some reluctance my wife convinced me to get treatment. Dr Royal was able to pinpoint the age of my injury (which aligned very closely to an injury I sustained in Afghanistan) and come up with a treatment plan. After several weeks I am virtually pain free and able to play with my son again! I used to wince at holding him for more than 5 minutes at a time, and he's a year and a half so constantly wanting Dad's attention lol. This review is for Kristopher Royal, he was my chiropractor for three years when his practice was in Seattle. Dr. Royal is the best chiro I have ever had. He could consistently find and fix anything that was causing pain or stiffness and send me off walking on air. Whether it was back, hip, shoulder, elbow or wrist, whatever was wrong would get fixed, 90% of the time in one visit. When my children visited from out of town, I took them both to meet Dr. Royal so they would know who to visit if ever in need - it's worth a flight to SEATAC and weekend in Seattle rather than to walk in pain. read more

I should know better, I come from a family of massage and chiropractic but had not been treated for a few weeks. I got a sore throat and head cold the was just sitting there. I was taking all the natural supplements and herbs, resting and drinking tons of water, nothing moving. I called Dr Royals office and ask to get in but told them I had a cold and would wait so I did not infect anyone. The front desk told me not to worry, they disinfect after every client and would take care of it. Got my adjustment yesterday and within 1 hour I was eliminating gunk from my head and lungs!!!!!!! i was happy and surprised. I would not recommend Olympia Chiropractic Center - Kristopher Royal. He pushes unnecessary treatment plans. I ended up spending a few thousand dollars there because he convinced me I would pretty much be going crippled if I didn't go through with the plan. After going to other practitioners later, they all said it was totally not needed all those visits, in fact could even do harm to the body. Wow! I felt taken advantage of at Olympia Chiropractic Center. I came in with upper back/shoulder pain, which I hadn't had before. Dr. Royal ordered full back & neck xrays, which I immediately had done. He wanted to make me a priority so I was seen the next day after he reviewed the xrays. I was told I had scolosis, signs of whiplash & arthritis, plus a ton of sublexations throughout my spine. Dr. Royal sat down with me and gave me his preffered action plan - 90 days of intensive care including different therapies and adjustments, at home exercises, traction, etc, being seen up to 4 times a week. This cost started at $5K, after insurance was about $2500, paying one time was around $1800. I was in tears after he told me all the things that are going wrong and how my spine is progressing negatively. I was also told I can't be lifting weights like I normally do, and should stick to push ups and the stairs or elliptical. My son is almost 40 pounds and 18 months old, I can't lift him?! .... But because I can't just drop that kind of money for a three month treatment plan, I talked with my husband and we decided to get a second opinion. When I went to pick up the xrays the receptionist asked why I wanted a second opinion. "Do you actually want a second opinion or is it just because of the money?" I told her both. She said that Dr. Royal mentioned my husband was an HVAC technician and we could work something out if I was interested. I left with my xrays with an appointment scheduled in two days with a chiropractor that my family has been going to for years (not sure why I didn't just start here...). I also emailed my primary care doctor and asked her to take a look at the xrays. My primary care doc told me that it looks like very mild scoliosis but without a full medical exam, she couldn't determine anything else. OK that's fair. The 2nd opinion chiropractor told me that I had very mild scoliosis that was most likely hereditary. That if I am having upper back pain I should come in and get adjustments, get massages, and keep the pain at ease, and at home I can ice it and do wet heat therapy. That it was BS that I needed any intensive care that Dr. Royal had suggested and that he's seen it done before. Now let me tell you - this pain is not bad - it lasted for 3 weeks and was irritating/mildly painful - I couldn't do shoulder/back day as intense as I had before, which was why I went in... but after an adjustment... the next day the pain was gone and I haven't had any since. I just felt very taken advantage of, like Dr. Royal tapped into my emotions and made the pain seem so much worse than it was/is. I felt like he was just trying to get money from us, and it was all very shady. I am so disappointed, but also relieved that I don't have to go through intensive treatment... I would recommend this Dr. Royal and his staff to my mom and that is the highest praise I have. When I began treatments two weeks ago I was in excruciating pain, my pain is long-term and chronic but after a few visits, I already feel a great deal of improvement both in the pain level and the ability to move and use my arm. Dr. Royal patiently went through my x-rays with me, compared my x-rays with charts showing spinal degeneration so I could see the validity of the diagnosis first hand. I feel that Dr. Royal is most interested in actually healing subluxations and not just getting the patient out of pain and sending them on their way. It is not an inexpensive solution but when the health of your spine at stake cheaper isn't necessarily better; I am pleased that he is treating the disorder and not just the symptoms. read more

I cannot say enough about how incredible Dr. Royal and the Olympia Chiropractic Center are. I am active duty military and a coworker recommended Dr. Royal to me when I started having severe neck pain and did not receive sufficient care through the military. During the initial exam Dr. Royal took the time to explain to me exactly what was wrong and recommended a treatment plan that worked with my schedule and budget. Dr. Royal is extremely nice and professional. He personally knows each one of his clients and truly cares about their wellbeing. The facility is always very clean, and the ladies at the front desk are incredibly helpful. Everything is ran very efficiently, every appointment I am in and out within 10 to 15 minutes with very little waiting. It's been about two months since I started seeing Dr. Royal and my neck pain is practically gone. I will continue to see Dr. Royal for upkeep adjustments as this keeps my body pain free despite my military lifestyle. The military discount is also greatly appreciated!
