After two visits with minimal adjustments and some stretching the pain is gone, and it hasn't come back since (it's been at least three months). What I appreciate about Dr. Lathrop is that he takes his time, doesn't over-prescribe adjustments, and doesn't up-sell to get you to come back for services you don't need. On my first visit he spent an hour asking about my health and habits, watching the way I walk and sit, and feeling my back. Then he stretched my lower back and showed me stretches I could do for self care. The second visit was a follow up. He made one more adjustment and sent me on my way. His goal is to provide you with the tools to keep yourself healthy on your own (if possible), not to get you on a rotating plan of unnecessary visits to make a buck. Finally, he's very aware of your personal space and always asks to to make adjustments, explaining as he goes. I'm not too anxious about that stuff, but it was certainly appreciated. I came in to Sloan Family Chiropractic after experiencing pain from a car crash. I use to have great suspicion and a sense of pause with chiropractic practice, but no longer with Dr. Dave. This is my first acupuncture experience…read more A few weeks back, I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder blade from doing rigorous yard work. It's been radiating pain from my shoulder, to my bicep, to my forearm and my hand- deep, dull and in escapable pain that has been keeping me up at night and making it hard to work. I have tried everything I can think of ice, heating pads, ibuprofen, sleeping on my back, specialty pillow that tilts your chin upright, lidocaine, chiropractor. Nothing has helped. The first time I went into this acupuncture place, they were quick to answer their phone and were able to get me an appointment the same day. When I went into their office, I was in so much agony that they chose to ice me and see me again in a couple of days, which felt like the right thing to do. A few days later, I went in for my first appointment and they only put in 2 acupuncture needles. Today, I went for my third appointment and they did four or five needles with the TEMS unit hooked up which sends electrical pulses through the needles. It was quite an interesting experience, but it actually feels like it did something! Both employees have excellent bedside manner. They are intentional and gentle and I felt the care they have for this work and their clients. I would recommend them 1000 times over because they have helped me feel like a human again.
