From beginning to end, both my husband and I were impressed. With a pine tree next to our driveway (kissing on a nearby oak) that seemed to have a compromised base, I was anxious to have this tree removed prior to the TRUE onset of hurricane season. We also have quite a few other trees on our property that had become overgrown and were touching or impeding either our house or our neighbors' houses. I called Jose to request a quote, and within days he was here to give us a written estimate. His company is fully bonded and insured. We thought his estimate seemed very fair, but we had also scheduled to receive an estimate from our "usual" tree service, who came out the same day (after waiting nearly a week for a reply). Shade Tree's estimate was better - AND, he was able to come out the following week to complete the job (rather than waiting two weeks as our other estimate indicated we would need to wait in order for him to complete the job). Sure enough, Jose and his skilled crew were here EARLY on the day we scheduled. Perfect! They did a superior job of removing the compromised pine tree without harming the oak that was almost adjoining it. All other trees were trimmed beautifully, with the intent to assist nearby trees in their growth as well as make our home safe. Clean up was superb and communication throughout the entire morning's worth of work was outstanding. This is a local business, and I always want to support local entrepreneurs. Jose and his team certainly deserve a true 5-star rating, as they were a fantastic crew to work with.

When I caught them in the act they acted as if they didn't understand me. They clearly understood because they started using the right method of roping the limb so it couldn't fall on my property, then using a long hook to bring it in and lower it slowly. Finally, I was able to get one of them to talk to me and he didn't seem to care about the damage he caused. All he said was that when they finished they would come clean it up. My banana trees are damaged and they broke my backyard lights that were strug on my fence. When all this was happening I had my pets (chickens and dogs) in my back yard. They could have easily killed one with their carelessness. I do not recommend using them for anything!!!

I called a well-known tree service company that had an arborist but despite…read morea conversation with the office, as well as sending a text with photos of the tree problem and shrubbery issues, and the promise that an arborist would look at the photos, I never heard back from the company. After several days, I gave up and called Garrett Tree Services and spoke with Theo,. He came over to the residence very quickly, took a look at the problem and made his suggestions. I thought I was dealing with a major fungus problem with a tree and a large shrub, it really looked bad. But he said that this could be normal aging, treatment wasn't needed at this time because that was very expensive to do, and that we should just prune and clean up the plants and see how they did, revisiting the issue if it recurred. it looked pretty bad and I figured the neighbors thought we were trashing the street. :-) Anyway, Theo turned up the next day with two other people and in about an hour they had the large pear tree pruned and cleaned up, the large shrub in front of the house pruned and trimmed and shaped, and they hauled away a large limb from a water oak that had fallen in the last storm. He charged a very good price and I was happy to pay and not worry about things anymore. If there are issues down the road, then I can call Theo, and we'll look at it and discuss it again, but for now I think everything's in great shape and the front garden certainly looks better attended. Each time, the price was lower than anyone else who bid the job. It's easy in Kingwood to be ZIP coded, receive a high price, and they hope you're dumb enough to agree to it. Neil has never done this to me. On all occasions, the team shows up when Neil says they will. They have literally ever piece of equipment needed to do the job....dolly's to move the large logs, a shredder which makes short work of the limbs, and multiple stump grinders. They're fast, everyone is nice and respectful, and they clean up the mess which has plagued me in the past with other companies. The large trees I had taken down really gave me heartburn with the way they were situated over the house. The team expertly climbed the tree and took the tree down in small pieces swinging everything away from the house with no problem. Trust me when I say they've done this before and are really good at it. Neil is quick to give a quote and leaves his insurance binder with the bid. This may seem trivial but I hate having to ask for insurance for a service that demands that the provider actually have insurance!! They trimmed all of the trees in our front and side yards, raising the canopies significantly. Additionally their used a stump grinder to remove 15+ stumps of various sizes throughout the yard. I specifically want to mention the crew wearing hardhats and other protective equipment. Watching the climber use his safety belt while in a 50ft tree was comforting.
