It would be a little more pleasant if they had lights or a heating lamp since it gets dark and cold up there once the sun drops. They also have a peloton room and a gym although the indoor gym is currently off limits. There was an outdoor gym when I first arrived but they took that down. It would be great if the gym had a sign up system like the peloton room so that we could have use of the amenities. Overall, I love the neighborhood and the apartment feels more spacious than other high rise apartments I toured in the area. I would highly recommend!

Where to start?!…read more Well I lived in this building for 2 years. At first we started off great, no complaints with management. I moved into my apartment with a simple roommate change form and thought I'd living there happily ever after. I paid a $500 security deposit and soaked in all the amenities: the beautiful rooftop, the socials* the free gym and the overall location (10 min walk to Trader Joes and 15 min walk to financial district/my office). Fast forward a few months go by, management turns over like crazy. Literally could not keep track of who was who and it was frustrating. Problems started: - They changed billing systems for auto rent pay and somehow I got rent taken out of my bank account twice (they didn't even apologize and blamed the software system that does the payment) - Every few weeks they would write letters to us asking us who are the tenants, whats your cell phone number, emergency contact etc. Yet, when my friend would send emails to me that were sent from the building, I wasn't even on the email list! - Rents go up but the prices are just insanely expensive and it's inflated. The amenities are not really worth it at the end of the day My boyfriend and I wanted to move in and so the horrendous process of moving out began. My roommate and I got screwed because somewhere in the lease signing process the manager at the time did not allow us to sign the page that had inspections so we were told now it was our responsibility to take on the condition of the apartment which hadn't been officially inspected since 2 years prior to us moving in? Hmmmm. So we give the 30 days notice, I reserve the elevator according to all the freaking protocol and the day I have hired my movers and packed up everything, the manager basically forgot about it and lent the elevator to someone else who had not reserved it and parked right outside of the building taking up the spot which my movers could not manuever into. I was furious. "Pre-inspection" comes and of course, they also forgot about this. So we got a scribbled piece of paper FORCING us to pay some $350 cleaning fee and carpet cleaning/painting etc. Fine. We said we'd do that. We just wanted to move out and be done with The Pinnacle and their terrible management. Then...we get hit with the actual total inspection bill and they tack on an extra $900 for refinishing the floor?????????? Are you effing kidding me with this?????? My roommate and I lived there for 2 years, no pets, no stains, no floor boards missing, we kept an Asian household and took off our shoes each time we entered (no joke). We have pictures of the floor in the condition when we left and it's perfectly fine. Fast forward, now we escalate this to the actual management company and get in touch with a VP, who was a decent human and took the $900 charge off. We didn't security back. I've rented for 10 years, never happened to me. BEWARE THEY WILL TRY TO SQUEEZE EVERY LAST DOLLAR OUT OF YOU AND THEN SURPRISE YOU WITH MORE BILLS AND EXPENSES WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS FINALLY OVER. NIGHTMARE. I actually considered contacting the renters union of San Francisco to deal with this situation. Sidenote: the only positive living here was getting to meet some nice neighbors and friends. * I actually met some really great friends during one of the meet and greets...still keep in touch even though I have moved out.

I moved into this apartment community in 2013 right after living in Greensboro, NC for a year…read more Initially, I thought the place was way too small, but I loved the layout, the roof deck, all the cool windows, and the radiant heat. Ok so I didn't think radiant heat was that big of a deal until it became one of my favorite features of the apartment. Can you imagine waking up and stepping on a warm floor? Mind-blowing! I also loved the fact that there's shopping near by and it's close to freeway access. I have a car so it was amazing to me that they have garage underground. A lot of other places I looked at while on my search didn't have that. Initially, it was a little scary that I would see homeless people around there, but I soon learned that they are even in the most luxurious places of San Francisco so I made my peace with it and moved on. In fact, my girlfriends and I would often walk at night to the local restaurants/bars and we never had any issues. I saw some of the reviews on here and didn't feel it was fair, but we are all entitled to our own opinion and I am sure each individual's experience is different. I never experienced any of that. I actually saw the security there on a lot of occasions. Never really had a bad experience with management. The maintenance guy Emmanuel is great! They truly go above and beyond! When I was moving out I had a buyer fall through for my couch and ended up needing to dispose of it. I did not know what to do and I had movers arriving in 12 hours. The concierge scheduled the recology pick up, let me leave the couch in the unit after I moved out, and even carried it outside for me as I could not lift it. This is just one example of many!! The team even took the time to get to know my family who would visit often! The amenities and especially the gym are a huge plus. People commented on the noise- this is an apartment so you can hear your neighbors. I am very sensitive to noise but never had an issue with noise levels from other apartments. People also commented negatively on the rent increases- compared to other apartments in the area I would say that the rent increases are on par with San Francisco housing markets. The units are not rent controlled, you will see similar price increases in any non rent controlled apartments. I would definitely recommend living here if it's within your budget!

An increase that steep would be easier to accept if the building were improving, but the upkeep has slipped while the rent has climbed. The staff is friendly, but the building isn't maintained the way you'd expect at this price. The wood siding and balcony trim have needed sanding and restaining for years. I've raised it multiple times, including with senior management, and nothing has changed. At this point, I'm concerned about the wood's condition, not just its looks. A cracked, spiderwebbed tile on the elevator floor has never been fixed. When a departing resident left a pile of furniture (mattress, sofa, tables, cabinets) by the trash room, it sat for almost a week. I called 311 myself, and they hauled it away that Friday. None of this is huge on its own, but it adds up. Turnover may be part of it: we've had four property managers since I moved in, which makes follow-through hard. The maintenance doesn't match the marketing, and deferred work doesn't go away; it just gets more expensive. The siding and balconies are the first thing you see walking up, and to my mind, they now define how the building looks. My honest take going into year five: the units are genuinely nice, but you're paying more every year for a building that's being kept up less.

As opposed to frustrating and unhelpful AI ones found at other properties), and a well built and maintained interior with efficient maintenance staff (Alvin somehow is everywhere at once and so quick and skilled!). We love having a monitored package room, secure garage, large outdoor dog run, beautiful resident lounge with a well equipped gym, and 24/7 concierge. Denaida, Theo, Rudy, Matt, Ruth and others at the front desk feel like family after just a few months of living here. The noise from the traffic and bridge is minimal white noise at worst, and is to be expected for living in this area. We toured other buildings with bad windows where the noise was actually bothersome - that is not the case here! We love this neighborhood and its proximity to everything. I toured The George during my most recent housing search, and above all else I was gobsmacked by…read morethe audacity of the leasing office in stating that to obtain the best price one would have to sign an 11-month lease. Excuse me? I have been renting for more than 20 years, and I have NEVER been forced to sign anything less than a 12-month lease; often the best price is offered on longer term leases (13+ months). This strategy is clearly a tactic to raise your rent at 11 months. I'm not looking to move 11 months after signing a lease, so I was a hard pass. When the agent greeted me for the tour, things got off to a suspicious start. I had been waiting in the lobby / amenity space off of Minna Street, and when I walked in I immediately noticed a loud humming noise that sounded like vacuuming. I asked the agent about it and she said she didn't hear anything -- either she has hearing loss or she was lying to me, because I heard the sound every time we were within 20ft of that space. The actual apartment layouts were too small and short on closet space for my needs. In general, I don't care about amenity spaces. What's more important to me is that my actual living space be spacious and comfortable. All the amenity spaces won't make up for not being able to sleep comfortably or even exist comfortably in your unit, which I've experienced in other "luxury" buildings. In the end, I found a stunning 1000-sqft condo rental with private outdoor space that includes parking and water / sewage /trash, all for less than the 11-month price of a unit at The George. You could expect to pay another $130 for those utilities and probably at least $400/mo for parking. Oh, and as soon as my tour ended and I exited on Minna St., I was immediately harassed by someone who asked for a lighter and then apparently couldn't take "sorry I don't smoke" as a reasonable answer.
