FRAUDULENT PEOPLE! We live next door to this building in condos, and they have received misdelivered packages for our building, even being photographed in their mailroom. They refused to give them to us, even though they are addressed to us and obviously misdelivered. Then they say "oh we don't have them" despite photographed evidence. Next is "oh we can't find them". They claimed to have sent them back, although we went to them the very next morning. Asking how did they send them back, they stated with a driver. This being with me going to when their package room opened for business hours, and no delivery came yet, and the delivery in question happened the night before right as they were closing. So did Santa come and get them overnight? Especially when I see several boxes marked RTS right there? Obviously very shady management and company. Not good people at all. Not even good neighbors. Probably keeping packages for themselves. read more

While my vehicle was in their care, they damaged my car. I now have 2 large symmetrical dents above my rear passenger window on the left and right side of my car. After raising this issue, I found out over 20 other vehicles in the garage have the exact same dent damage in the same location, indicating a systemic issue. The garage is unwilling to take responsibility. They claim there is no link between their operations and the damage and that the damage was due to hot/cold temperatures changes and manufacture defects. I've been to this beautiful building multiple times, for parties and gatherings at one of the tenant's home. You need a QR code as a visitor, which you are host can provide to you. Show that QR code to the friendly folks at the front desk, and they will tell you which elevator to get on, A, B, C, or D. They will call the elevator for you, you get on and it will take you quickly to the floor you need. This building is beautifully maintained, quite clean, and service is always wonderful. Parking is shockingly expensive if you park at the building, but parking everywhere in downtown San Francisco is shockingly expensive so I don't know that it's any more than anywhere else. It's convenient and that's good. read more

Leasing office has been unresponsive for over a week. I'm begging you to do something about the noisy gate from the dog walk. The sound ricochet's off the gate every time a selfish dog owner slams it shut (non stop all day and night!) I have reached out about this multiple times and nothing has been done. All they have to do is fix the latch so that it's padded with hydraulics. They also need to notify dog owners to please please not slam the gate as the noise carries to all inward facing units. It is miserable listening to it all day coupled with the noise from dogs barking and owners who don't look up from their phones long enough to see their dogs whimpering to go to an actual park. As another reviewer mentioned, if you live on an inward facing unit, the noise from the pool and the dogs and the gate are enough to consider not living here. read more

First off, I don't live here. I just live in the neighborhood, so I have no visibility in what's inside the building. NEMA power washes their block every day. It only lasts a couple of hours then it gets dirty. They're obsessed. They don't give a shxx even if their pressure washer makes noise like construction sites. They start this daily routine early in the morning around 7. The cleaning guy takes his sweet axx time to finish power washing just one side of a block. The noise wakes up all of us in the neighborhood, but they don't care because they are better than anybody else. When X lighted up their building, the NEMA complained as it was too disturbing for the residents. When they're disturbing the neighborhood with noise, they have right to do what they want to do. Having recently concluded my tenancy at NEMA, I wanted to share my experiences to provide a balanced, yet critical, view of the property as well as why I will be taking them to small claims court. While there are certainly highlights that contribute to a positive living experience, some significant drawbacks, particularly concerning move-out procedures and lack of response from management, warrant attention. A Major Concern: The Deposit Deduction The most disappointing aspect of my experience was the unacceptable deduction of over $500 from my security deposit for alleged painting and cleaning. During a pre-move out inspection where charges for shower regrouting (due to on mold spot which I quickly scrubbed away), a cleaning fee, and a touch-up paint fee were proposed. I refused to sign the document authorizing these unjustified charges, as the inspector could not even point out specific areas needing paint. I had thoroughly cleaned the apartment and hung nothing on the walls, leaving no visible issues that would warrant such deductions. Areas for Improvement: However, not all aspects of NEMA meet the same high standard. The condition of interior common spaces could often be better maintained, sometimes appearing less pristine than one might expect for a luxury building. The grill areas and other public outdoor spaces, while aesthetically pleasing, are frequently rendered unusable for the majority of the time due to strong winds, which is a considerable practical limitation. Similarly, the fireplaces in common areas would often not stay lit, diminishing their intended appeal. It was also notable that the exterior windows were not washed throughout my year-long residency, affecting views and the building's overall exterior appearance. On the Upside: NEMA does shine in several areas. The gym facilities are above average for an apartment, offering residents a convenient and well-equipped space for fitness. The quality of finishes within the apartments themselves is consistently high. I always found the front desk staff to be exceptionally polite and helpful, which greatly enhances daily interactions. Furthermore, the rooms were solidly built so provided great noise protection from other units. Conclusion: While NEMA offers appealing amenities and high-quality apartment interiors supported by excellent front-line staff, the issues surrounding the usability of outdoor common areas and the consistent failure of fireplaces are minor grievances compared to the significant and, in my view, unfair deductions from my security deposit for painting and cleaning. This policy regarding deposit returns is a considerable drawback and something prospective residents should be acutely aware of. read more

Noise all day long at the pool which carries throughout the entire property. I've sent requests for management to please enforce the no music policy and constant screaming from children but they don't. The windows are faulty and do not close properly. Have had to have them fixed 4x in a few months. They also don't have AC and so you rely on open windows for cool air but they're poorly installed and rattle with the wind so badly you have to close them. Also have experienced non stop noise from the dog walk and clanking of the gate 24 hours a day. Poorly trained dogs bark at all hours and owners don't do anything as most are just staring at their phone and don't care it's 6 am and it could wake people up. They treat the pee chute as a park for loud play and training with their dogs.There's no respect for other tenants and their right to quiet in their apartments. Both the dog walk and pool are located in the central part of both buildings on the third floor so the noise carries to all apartments and has been constant since I moved in. Selfish tenants and zero enforcement. I pay over $3k in rent and it is not worth it. Elevator is constantly broken. Had to walk down 14 flights of stairs last week because the elevator wasn't open. There are better buildings with better layouts and less expensive. I won't be renewing my lease. Note: front desk and valet are very helpful. Fun events and nice amenities, but only a few positives compared to multiple negatives. Ty read more

If you guys are looking to live here. A lot of people smoke weed inside their apartments and they don't enforce it. Paying thousands in rent and they can't even control folks to not smoke in the units ‍. Your clothes and your belongings will be penetrated with smells. I wish the pool was warmer! It's freezing in SF. That would turn this review into 5 stars! As far as reviews of staff, Dan Rosales is an amazing fitness director who keeps offering interesting new classes. Nema's fitness program in my opinion is the best reason to live here. Many buildings have nice apartments but not the fitness classes downstairs! Jimmy's bootcamp is freaking amazing! Kim is a stretching and muscle expert. Christina teaches an awesome series of outdoor bootcamps that is very popular. The front desk staff are the best. Kim is always friendly and smiling every morning to gree. All the others are very helpful and welcoming. I can't say enough great things about the staff - they make all the difference. Cons: if you are on the building interior, there are incredibly bright lights that go on at 5:30am and will wake you up. If you are on the building exterior, the apt will be boiling hot and unlivable. The Jessie St side of the S Tower is 80-90 degrees all the time inside the apartments and no A/C. The concrete floors look terrible and will get scratched, oily and disgusting. Don't try to have them painted! The paint will peel off and get all over your stuff. Oh and you will likely be charged at a minimum a move out cleaning fee of $250 when it's time to move. There's also an extra $100-150 a month building trash and water fee not included in rent. Finally, I've had pretty steep rent increases here (over 10 percent, several years in a row). The building utility fee has gone up 100 percent. I would strongly recommend a rent controlled building if you are thinking of staying in SF. read more

My work authorization card got delivered here after we had moved out. Marshall, who manages the mails, emailed me to say there's a USPS package that seems to be important. As it was! I dropped in to collect it and thanked him for his service! He handed the letter to me and said, "I understand how long the government takes to deliver these cards and I didn't want to send the letter back". WARNING: The infrastructure internally of the NEMA buildings is falling apart. This is certainly not a luxury building any longer. The water has needed to be shut off for multiple days, which means toilet backs ( gross) tenants call it ENEMA now. The entire elevator banks stop, and people can't get to their apartments. They blame three-party vendors on tenants, so they take zero responsibility. This once-premium property is showing its age - and not in a good way. The apartments facing North - West toward Market Street at night are blinded by an the electric blue light off of the high rise across the street - no one stays in the 01 units. They trick people and don't tell them - of course it's only shown in the daytime, big warning The greedy management has put profits above maintenance and updating. The move-out is happening fast and furious. They are overcharging grossly. There are now many better options in the neighborhood- without sacrificing the views or cost. When looking for a real luxury building NEMA is all wrong! In a year everything has changed... It's very sad most of the former employees are no longer here and left. There are the excellent staff like Don, Tony, C.C. and others - it's the upper management, and leasing office. read more

Moved into NEMA this past weekend - I toured multiple high-rise luxury buildings, the leasing process and customer service at NEMA was undoubtedly the best - Michael took care of us at every step and was always very responsive and top of any questions we had. I could tell he really cared to find the right apartment we were looking for! NEMA holistically is one of the best apartment buildings out there - the differences being it has full amenities (rooftop, 60 ft lap pool, spin/yoga classes, etc), resident events (food eating contests, Tahoe ski trips, wine tasting), huge floor plans.. Updated review for end of 2020 NEMA has improved a decent amount this year. I think there was a management transition. Rent is way down due to the COVID exodus, so feels like a good value now. Pros - new building - central to a lot of transit - most of staff are really pleasant - great gym Cons - not very walkable in the immediate area - blinds are horrible. They let in a ton of light and keep it way too hot in the summer (much higher higher up than most SF place. You need portable AC) - windows go outward, so portable AC units don't fit well read more

I looked at many high rises in SF, and I think NEMA is one of the best ones out there. The building itself is beautiful - they have some great amenities (a gym with multiple squat racks!! so many high rises just have cardio machines) and some great rooftop areas. However, I think the best part of NEMA is the size of each apartment. Every other high rise has apartments with smaller sqft and NEMA consistently has apartments that are pretty big in size (and the windows let in so much light). Over the summer they have some pretty good deals (4-8 weeks free), so I'd definitely be on the lookout for those deals. Lived here for 4 years, and only left because my wife and I ended up purchasing a home outside the city. The amenities are absolutely superb, and I took full advantage of everything: rooftop views, the amazing gym, office area downstairs to print things, outdoor grill area, outdoor/indoor lounge areas. And then you have free events throughout the year like Super Bowl and Halloween parties. And these aren't just throwaway events, they're LEGIT parties. But the cherry on top is how friendly and helpful all the staff is. From the valets to the packaging team to the concierges, everyone was amazing to work with, and we truly miss those daily interactions more than anything. If you're planning to move into the city, you should at the very least schedule a tour at NEMA. I still remember not having any real expectations 4 years ago when I came for the tour, but the place sold itself pretty quickly. My best apartment hunting experience at NEMA. I was greeted by Michael. He was very helpful because I had a limited budget and I needed some rent concession incentives to make the student budget. Michael showed me exactly the units that would fit my budget. We closed the "deal" within a week. He helped with the "on boarding" move quickly so that my student could get settled into her bright and cheerful studio within 10 days. I truly feel safe by leaving my student at NEMA because of the friendly and 24/7 security system. The mail and package collection service is perfect. I am writing this to show people San Francisco still lives in style. I've lived in the city since 1976 and moved into NEMA in May 2016. As the world has witness, our city now face some tragic circumstances, much of them just blocks from my apartment building which sits between the headquarters of major tech companies. So much of the city seems in trouble yet NEMA seems to buck this trend and move on in its historical style. All of us I am sure have reduced expectations from our city's institutions: I've seen many disheartening situations myself and it appears we all get told to roll with whatever may come. This weekend I had my niece stay overnight and the tub without our involvement had a totally stopped drain. She had to Uber down to her own place in Los Gatos for a shower and then Uber back to the city for a meeting with her brother in North Beach. I felt resigned and had very low expectations as today is a holiday and I thought perhaps this would receive attention from NEMA managment sometime during the upcoming week. I call down to Justine (a native son of the city) at the Concierge Desk to place a Maintenance Request while thinking how many days this would take and feeling resigned I did not press the point. Justine expedited the issue and two of the Maintenance Staff, Marlon and Santino, came up in about one hour and completed the job and left the whole tub and bathroom spotless. Needless to say I was surprised when they rang my bell and totally happy when I witnessed how quickly and well they completed this job. Marlon and Santino have helped me before in another situation here - they always are patient, kind, and professional and do the job well and efficeintly. Justine works at the Front Desk and always has the same professional attitude. This shows the San Fransisco we all have known for years; this shows the polite, social, and professional attitude that made San Fransisco 's style famous world wide way before the Golden Gate Bridge. Each of these men acted with the kindness and intelligence we knew to expect before this current crises - they acted as a team for the people who live at NEMA and in my mind as a reflection of what has in the past made this city great. read more

I've lived in NEMA since 2019: Pros: - good natural lighting (where I am, at least) - a lot of amenity options, if that's your thing. I like the gym and pool - my unit has good space. Cons: - the general neighbourhood is terrible. Good luck walking around outside, especially at night. You - it is loud inside the units. There are constant sirens on Market Street, and constant screaming from the neighbourhood. I rarely heard my neighbours until about a year ago, and now there has been constant noise from the upstairs unit. - no A/C. With the shades drawn and the windows open, it's usually at least 75F in my unit (and of course, with the windows open, the sirens and the screaming are that much louder) - constant bright light from Twitter directly into my bedroom at night. I've raised this multiple times to the leasing office since the lease states that you're not allowed to install your own shades. No one has followed up with me. - there's been a noticeable decline in the quality of the concierge staff in the last 6 months or so, unfortunately. Even though the lot signs said full, when I told them I was there for an appt, they took my car no question. Always smiling . Great face to come home to. Dogs are mostly problematic here in the building owners pay no attention to them. Laundry has been a challenge, leasing office are hard to reach consistently ignores emails and are always in meetings. Weekends are very difficult because of noisy neighbors. (This is updated after living here a lot longer but I still feel exactly the same, I moved out because I moved to another city) I love love loved living here! I have lived here 3 years I can honestly say this place is fantastic. (yes it sounds a bit over the top, and yes I am really honest; I do not get anything for writing this review) The facilities are wonderful, valet parking, a pool, community areas (with fire place, TVs and pool table), roof terras, bbq terras, it is all very very nice. But what makes this place truly great is the staff. Hence I will give a shout out to them first: Everyone is super nice and extremely helpful. The concierges are always greeting you, and they are always there if you need something and available 24/7. The leasing office staff are also extremely nice, they might not always be there (as the office is only open during office hours) but they will get back with you asap if you have questions. The cleaning staff is really nice too and they work really hard to keep the place super clean (so many people and dogs in the building but you wouldn't say it by how spotless it is kept). The valet people are also super nice and helpful and do their best to get you car quickly, and make sure your car (and motorcycle; as I have one as well) is kept under good care, they can even wash it for you and put air in your tires if needed. I didn't talk much to the mail people but when I did they are definitely very nice, and I loved having people receive my packages and notifying me or even deliver to my unit if I want when I have a delivery, I do know they work hard to get everything through in time. As for technical staff: I had to put in a couple work orders (my dryer, and the light in the hallway) and it was taken care of really quickly. You can even do all this over the app they have. So though I didn't talk to them, I was very pleased with their work. Last but definitely not least: I used the gym regularly, and attended many classes every week; and the trainers are a blast and very skilled, I loved their classes. The classes are complimentary and the gym is of high grade; enough machines and all very new and well kept. During the pandemic they even made sure they had plenty zoom gym classes so people could still keep moving. (I noticed a few one star reviews from people that complain about one issue but love the rest of the place. A bit weird to use Yelp as a message board as everyone at Nema is super approachable I have noticed. And again: no I am not told to write this for Nema, check out my profile, I honestly loved living here.) I definitely want to point out a few other great things about this building: it is super quiet. I lived on the street side, but when you close your sliding door (balcony) it is quiet. They did a great job sound proofing! I also hardly heard my neighbors. Besides from every now and then maybe a door that closes in the hallway, I didn't hear anything. And believe me: I am picky when it comes to noise. Regularly Nema organizes events for the residents that are either free to attend, or at a really good price point. In the 3 years I have been living here (except for pandemic time) I have plenty seen roll by: movie nights (with drinks and a popcorn machine), art walks in the city, happy hours at a trendy local bar, wine tastings in wine country (with shuttle), a live jazz band with drinks and bites, ski trips, brewery tours etc and especially their yearly holiday parties were EPIC (not sure if they have brought them back yet since we are still in a pandemic). All the events I have attended were a lot of fun! It is a great way to get to know fellow residents. As for the neighborhood: a couple blocks away it is pretty bad at night. But except for the one straggler here and there the streets right around Nema are not too bad. As you can see I am a woman, I owned two small dogs when living there and I took them out even after 10pm or around 11pm. I also went out regularly and take public transportation, even late at night (if I had to go through the bad part at night, I did take Lyft instead) and I have never felt unsafe. I noticed one lady complaining in her review about her dog relief notices and blaming it on not being able to get it out due to the bad neighborhood: ignore her. The streets right around the building are fine, especially when you stay in sight of the concierge. Nema also cleans the streets around the building so I am not sure why she talks about crap and needles(?). They clean and hose down the streets every day. On top of that they have a great doggy run on one of the roof tops now, so you don't have to go on the streets anymore. read more
