We circled the shoe area trying to find the one she had in mind. As we were chatting about different options, I looked down and there it was! It was exactly what she described and she was elated. A sales associate approached us to help and placed the request using an iPad. As we waited, he returned a couple times to let us know that they're having a difficult time locating the pair due to inventory moving around because of the sale, but they're working on it. After several more minutes, Kandace was sent to assist us further. She said that the shoe could not be found but offered the option to ship it. Unfortunately, our daughter is moving out of her apartment in a couple days, so this was not ideal. I instead asked for it to be shipped to the store. She didn't hesitate to assist with that. We encountered a couple issues as she was trying to process the transaction. The only solution was for me to place the order myself on the app. She was quite apologetic for the inconvenience, but she was too sweet and helpful to find her at fault. It took me just a few minutes to place the order. We then decided to check-out the sale rack on our way out. The daughter fell in love with a Damson Madder mini dress. It was a perfect fit and 35% off -- I had to buy it. Cidney was the sales associate at the register. She was so much fun to chat with as she handled our transaction. She offered recommendations for other pieces and almost convinced me to purchase a super-cute Free People cardigan. :) Friendly, fantastic service from Nordstrom at the Mall at Green Hills, especially during the weekend at one of their busiest times!

I've marveled at the high-class display of exclusive brands, expensive purses and clothing, squeaky clean interior, and charming little restaurant on the bottom floor. This is surely a celebrity destination in Nashville. But I never actually shopped there ... until yesterday. In search of a birthday present for my wife, I perused the clothing on the uppermost of three floors looking for something that would match her style. Under the impression that everything in the store was uber-expensive, I was surprised at the vast range of prices! You could find a $40 skirt on sale, or a designer $1000 jacket, everything from bargains to the pinnacle of fashion! Searching for the right item but (as a typical male) rather clueless about fashion, the most charming young lady named Lindsey emerged and became my personal guide, my guardian angel of fashion. With class, sophistication, and professionalism, this Nordstrom employee offered suggestions, gave expert advice, found additional options for clothes in the back, and truly went overboard to make sure I was happy, comfortable, and enlightened. Because of her, I was able to bring home a truly remarkable outfit for my wife's birthday (which she'll be opening in a few days). Thank you, Nordstrom. And thank you, Lindsey!

I then called back and had to once again listen to a lot of information up front from a very slow voice that made it seem like it was longer than it actually was. When someone came to the phone I asked for the manager and the girl said, "That's me." I told her about calling and being on hold 25 minutes and asked her if she thought that was acceptable, and she said yes. I said are you? So you think it is acceptable to leave a customer on hold for 25 minutes without ever coming back to the phone, and she again said yes, we're short staffed. I then explained the reason for my call was because I had purchased several wildflower scents but have to keep buying the plugins because they burn out so quickly. She indicated she knew that they do. I told her I know someone out of town who had the same problem and that location let her trade them for new ones, and I was calling to see if this location would do that as well. She responded no, it's against our new policy. I asked about the policy, and she said that they've had so many problems with these that they no longer exchange them unless they haven't been used, have a tag still on them, and within 90 days of the receipt. Through my questions she confirmed this is a problem that the company has dealt with for a long time, so they can no longer afford to swap them out when new ones go bad. I told her I've already bought so many and have these scents I can't use, and asked her what was I supposed to do. She told me to not let a scent run out before switching to another scent. Then she told me that when I switched scents I should keep the unit unplugged for 3-4 days to let it reset. I questioned that. She said they aren't supposed to be plugged in all the time. I told her that is what they are made to do. Also there is no documentation anywhere to tell me this so how was I supposed to know. She said when I bought them the salesperson should have told me. I said with everyone I've bought, nobody has ever mentioned anything like this, and it doesn't make sense. She then said, well at least keep them unplugged for 24 hours. At that point, I asked, are you making this up. She of course said no. I said, well it seems like you are just pulling stuff off the top of your head, and you are giving me conflicting information. I said to summarize this, your company knows that they are and have been making and selling a inferior product, one that isn't cheap at all, and one that although more than twice as expensive as Walmart, lasts only through a few scents, and sometimes not even through 1. And you tell me that it is because I need to do these things (above) in order for it to not go bad. She said yes. I said, well I'm sure you don't care, but I'm not sure I want to shop with your company any longer. Have a nice day. I hung up and am still shaking my head at this entire conversation. I thought Bath and Body Works was better than this.

Going in at 10am people were running at full speed, groups and families ran in and canvassed what was valuable and by 15 minutes in there was a line of customers at the testing table, almost everyone had carts filled to the brim with electronic doo dads they were making sure worked and could be resold. Meanwhile me and the wife got out with 3 things we needed, paid $15 each, and discovered when we got home it was about $350 in merch, came back the next day and picked up two more of the things that are $170 retail, and felt amused. I will say one thing I think could be improved is to find some OCD kids and let them go through and sort things. My kids love doing that there, grouping the 200 of the same items into one area. Gotta be other kids that do that too. Oh yeah, and randomly they threw a princess party into the mix on Saturday which is why we were back and discovered there were 2 more $170 things there.

This was the only Goodwill location I had a chance to visit while in Nashville, so I'm not sure if this is standard in terms of size or format, but the store feels a bit smaller than a typical Goodwill format. Upon entering you are immediately confronted by clothing racks with the majority of the household and bulk items located in the back corner of the store. My walk-through of most of the sections didn't really identify much in terms of deals. The men's clothing section, especially the suits and pants had so many clothes on the racks that it was impossible in some cases to separate them in order to check them out. I even broke one or two hangers trying to pull a garment off the rack that I wanted to check out. I did buy a couple of books and a couple of cool T-shirts for my nephew, but for the most part, this probably wouldn't be a regular stop for me.
