Used to love coming here, but that's not the case anymore. About five years ago, I remember being able to sit with the doctor and explain my concerns, needs, and receiving very thorough service. Now, I feel like he's become prescription happy, as he has offered medication based on symptoms and not final lab results. I'll start off by saying the office staff is really great and friendly. They started my visit off in a great way, but that was quickly erased once Dr. Kreitmann came into the room to talk to me for my "new patient orientation." One of his very first questions was "Where are you from?" and when I replied that I was from New York, he started questioning me in a very ignorant, racist manner, asking where my parents were from because I was "Oriental." Yes. It is 2018 and he is still using the phrase "Oriental" to describe Asian AMERICANS. (Silver Spring is a very diverse place as well, so I can only imagine how he treats other patients of other ethnicities...) Needless to say, I was not as ease for the rest of my appointment. Oh, good thing it was my first time at a gynecologist too, which is stressful enough as it is! As for actual medical advice, he was very quick to prescribe birth control pills to me without actually explaining side effects or characteristics of different brands to treat the symptoms I had - even when I specifically asked for more explanation. I made the mistake of filling the script before doing my own research, but when I did afterwards, I read about horrible side effects of the brand of BC he prescribed, which he did not warn or inform me about, so decided not to take the BC after all. I will be looking for a new doctor. read more

After years of consideration, I decided that I did not want to have children. I was scheduled to have a tubal ligation last year, but (fortunately) plans fell through. A new sterilization procedure called Essure was available. Dr. Kreitmann was the closest doctor to my residence who is Essure-certified. I went in for an informative consultation session and scheduled the procedure at the end of April. Kathy, my case manager, had good "phone-side" manners while working with my insurance company. I was prescribed on various medications that were required to take weeks or days before and after the procedure. I received an information packet which proved useful in describing the Essure procedure in greater detail. The procedure itself only took an hour. While it wasn't exactly pain-free (I haven't had children), I managed to be back on my feet a day after. It was very interesting to watch "live footage" from the camera on a LCD screen. (It reminded me of Disney World's Body Wars ride too much.) Since that day, I have been very happy about my decision. As for Dr. Kreitmann, he is very knowledgeable and professional. He returns phone calls promptly and calls to check on his patients. His wife, a physician as well, was equally pleasant. It is evident that they value and care for their patients. I strongly recommend Dr. Kreitmann not only for the Essure procedure, but other gynecological services as well. read more

I'm never coming back. When I asked if this wait was normal or if they had an explanation the staff said "we have a lot of patients today," mind you my appointment was at 10:15 AM so I have no idea how they got so backed up. Chronic mismanagement of the schedule is the only explanation. When the Doc finally arrived and asked how I was I said "annoyed that I've been here over an hour." He then proceeded to blame "the type of people around here" for being late and backing him up. HAHA OMG did you just generalize your entire patient base?! ALSO, this older man asked me strange questions about how bisexuality works and how my boyfriend felt about it. The questions were purely to satisfy his own curiosity and not relevant to why I was there. read more

I am a public health professional. I went to Dr. Olivier Kreitmann for an IUD insertion. I was new to the process and not a self-advocate but I am writing on two major points: 1. Misinterpreting and misleading about science - He tried to convince me to go on birth control pills rather than IUD claiming the correlation (and not causation study) that pills lower the risk of ovarian cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, the full facts are that "Oral contraceptives seem to reduce this risk for women with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. But birth control pills can increase breast cancer risk in women without these mutations." And he had no knowledge of my BRCA gene carrier tests (i have never had it done, neither do people get it unless a family history of breast cancer which is negative in my case and he knew that) 2. Not a compassionate doctor with poor bedside manners- He inserted the IUD without administering any anesthesia (not that I knew that it was an option or he offered me the option to even consider the cost vs. benefits, etc) and it was a painful and uncomfortable procedure. I was crying and in pain and instead of having compassion he actually frowned and scolded me to say that it was not a big deal, and kept on shouting at me to say "you need to relax". Oh because that technique scientifically works to relax your muscles (sarcasm). Well, Dr. Krietmann, why don't I recommend that you take your next colo-rectal screening or god forbid a tube through your urethra without anesthesia, and we can all just call you a cry baby for not enduring the pain, and not even the most basic level of human comfort. read more

This is based on my one and only visit. Dr. Kreitmann is professional, easy to talk to, and although not one to spend too much time in the exam room, all-in-all he seems to be a good doctor. The experience at his office was marred, however, by the fact that I waited close to one hour to see him (despite the fact that I was on time for my apt. and it was the last apt. of the day, the office was not busy). Worse yet, his staff of receptionist/techs were unprofessional, immature, and could be found milling around and dangling themselves and their bare feet all over the furniture during my entire visit. The group of young, bored, and apparently annoyed/angry employees were a bit intimidating, and I hesitated to interrupt their private conversations and cell phone calls to ask questions related to my visit/treatment lest I endure the ol' "evil eye". After waiting alone in the exam room for more than 45 minutes, I popped my head out to make sure I hadn't been forgotten. Two of the aforementioned angry/bored employees sneered/snapped at me "He [will] be with you in a minute!" The office never followed up with my test results and after leaving 4 phone messages I was finally responded to by yet another annoyed staff member who sounded almost angry to report that my tests were all normal. As in, "how dare you bother me about NORMAL test results" (I should have known instinctively that everything was A-ok and not bothered the poor staff. They have important personal calls to make on their cell phones). read more

I have worked in the medical profession since 2003. I have experience working in the ICU and customer service in the hospital. With that being said here is my experience objectively: I found myself needing to find an OB-GYN after 4+ home pregnancy tests and missing a period. I am fairly new to the area (about 3 yrs) so I don't know many people personally. I have always felt word of mouth was the best route to finding an excellent medical professional that you can trust. Since I couldn't go to any close friends/family nearby, I based my decision to go to Dr. Kreitmann off of scores on healthcare review website. At my first appt the wait was not long, about 5-10 minutes after filling out paperwork. My boyfriend was with me. I thought it was important for him to be apart of every aspect of the pregnancy since we were both very excited to be pregnant. We went in for a transvaginal u/s (ultrasound) and to our dismay there was no baby to be found despite my symptoms pregnancy (breast tenderness, food cravings, some nausea). Dr. Kreitmann was professional and explained that we would get an HCG level and set an appt exactly a week later for follow-up. I did go through about a week of grieving, and finally came to the terms that it simply wasn't meant to be. At my 2nd appt, the wait was over half an hr. I didn't notice, but my bf had pointed it out. I said, in the dr's defense, that he's probably seeing another pt, and that he couldn't see 2 ppl at once anyways so be patient. We were then seen and proceeded to do another transvaginal u/s. Still no baby. Dr. Kreitmann explained that D&C might have to be planned after he see's the blood work that they'll send again that day. He said he would call back. That day was 1/13 Mon. I got a call back on 1/17 Fri, he wanted to schedule the D&C for the following Friday 1/24. I asked him how long would I be in the hospital. He said I would go in on Friday and be out by Monday. That struck me as rather odd for an outpatient procedure, and D&C's don't take that long. I told him I strictly work Sat & Sun, I am free M-F. On Monday 1/20, I found an email from the day before from him that he scheduled by surgery for 1/23 Thu. I would've have understood if it was an emergency but he didn't make sure if the day was ok with me or if I was even okay with going through with at all. I also consulted my mother on her opinion (medical professional for more than 30yrs in a variety of ICU's) and she said that it is no rush. I called him to cancel my appt and he said that it wasn't fair to him because he spent 45min making my story for my chart, his staff at the office working on my chart, and the hospital staff working on my chart. I told him that I could not make the appt because I didn't have a ride. He said take a cab. I said how will I get home, my boyfriend will be at work. Then he said why can't he call off, he did this to you, that's not right that he just goes off and does his own thing. I told him that he does not know the nature of my relationship between me and my boyfriend. I told him I would call back and see what I could do and hung up. After seeking opinions of others (my mother's, co-workers), I called his office back and told them I'm canceling and not coming back. His secretary tried to stop me by saying that this is so last minute and that he would want to talk to me. I said ok, and I'm still waiting for a call back. My opinion: I don't mind having a knowledgeable doctor taking care of me despite their rudeness in EMERGENCY situations as long as they know what they are doing and saves my life. I was very disrespected by the way he talked to me. He judged me and my significant other through a chart and seeing our faces only for a total of less than an hour. I have never talked to my patient's in that manner, and always worked by the ideal of "what if I (or my family) was in their shoes." I may have stayed with this doctor if he had not talked to me in that manner. It does not bode well to have someone operate on you that you are angry with or do not have a good relationship with. Doctors forget that they are human and how to interact with other humans as well. Needless to say I will be looking in to other doctors. read more

Dr. Kreitmann is the best gynecologist I've ever seen. He and his staff put you at ease and he's gentle and efficient. I've never felt uncomfortable with him and can easily talk to him about anything. He explains conditions and procedures in language that's easy to understand but not condescending. It seems like the waiting issue has not improved. I visited yesterday and while I got into the exam after 15 minutes, I waited in the exam room for about 35 minutes. The staff was also not very friendly except for one older woman who took my blood pressure. No one checked in with me about the long wait until I went outside the exam room after 25 minutes to complain (and they said someone was ahead of me, although my appointment was at 12 and it was now 12:35. I've seen Dr. Kreitmann on two occasions so far. He is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough while maintaining a wonderful bedside manner! I hate when doctors condescend or don't bother to explain what they're doing or why; Dr. Kreitmann does the opposite. He also suggests, but doesn't force, his opinion on you as the patient, and I think it's pretty nifty and novel to find a physician who embraces the "patient as his/her own advocate" idea. The staff at this office is amazing, too, both via phone and in person. No complaints at all. Five stars from me. :) P.S. Re previous reviews about wait time... would you rather have a doctor who rushes you out the door because he's distracted by getting to his next appointment on time, or one who makes you wait just a little bit to ensure he's investing his time with each patient (including you)? My wife just called me after leaving Dr. Kreitmann's office in tears. This is not a place to go if you are seeking an office that is sensitive to the LGBT community. She told me Dr. Kreitmann asked if she was gay because she didn't like sex with men. I called and spoke to Dr. Kreitmann immediately after speaking with her and he said "she misinterpreted" what he asked her about "her choices". There's a right way and a wrong way to ask medically relevant questions, and the right way doesn't leave someone with the impression the doctor is curious about why a person has a specific sexual orientation. She said it was the most dehumanizng and painful OB/GYN appointment in her life. read more

I lived in Bowie, so I have never been to the Silver Spring location. Dr. Kreitmann was at the Omni Building in Bowie, MD on Wednesdays. He was the only gynecologist I had ever been to in my life. I moved to Annandale, VA, but if my insurance allowed, I would STILL drive back to MD to see Dr Kreitmann. He's very knowledgeable, professional, and actually cares about his patients. Like I stated previously, I had never been to the Silver Spring location, but at the Bowie location, I NEVER waited more than 30 minutes before seeing the doctor (and that was on busy days). He even refunded my co-pay once, because of a scheduling error that was MY fault. He's an excellent doctor. read more

I am 46, my son is 19, thanks to Dr. Kreitmann, he delivered my baby. He actually delivered many doctors' babies, he was and is always recommended by doctors for their families. I am his regular patient now for over 20 years. If you have not seen him, you have missed the best doctor. I now work and live most of the time overseas, but will not change my gy! I just hope he keeps working! I keep coming for my regular yearly appointments. Who cares if you have to wait a little, that means he is spending extra time with a special case patient. I was excited about finding Dr. Brigitte Kreitmann after reading the good reviews on ZocDoc, but my experience was the complete opposite of the positive experiences described there. Dr. Kreitmann and her staff were rude and unprofessional. I came in there seeking to get laser hair removal and just because she was so rude. Instead of talking to me professionally about the procedures she decided to catch an attitude. To even add salt to injury she had the nerve to discuss with another doctor about not wanting to assist me which was extremely rude and unprofessional. Then the place itself was very dirty along with the her Dr. lab coat which, was supposed to white but I instead it was brown. I would NEVER refer anyone here so please beware. read more

He always picks up on our last conversation and appears very sincere in how I've been since my last visits. I am writing this review 18 years late. I was scanning my daughter's birth certificate for her, and saw Dr Kreitman's name on it and wondered if he was still practicing. I'm delighted to see that he still is, because he saved both our lives the night she was born. I showed up at the Washington Adventist Hospital on NOvember 27, 1994, bleeding abnormally. My regular OB was not available -- after all, it was the Sunday after Thanksgiving (I'm sorry I forget his name: He was wonderful. Older, foreign born, possibly eastern European....?) Before we knew what was happening, I was whisked into an operating room and that's the last thing I remember. My baby, who was breach, had abrupted (?) my uterus, and I was nearly bleeding to death. My husband, a 2nd year medical student, watched in horror as I was given an emergency c-section. An hour later, I woke up to find my baby safe and healthy. I had to take massive doses of iron for the next month or two, and was confined to bed (which was fine with me!) but thanks to Dr Kreitman, we are here to celebrate her high school graduation. I never got the chance to thank him, so thank you, Dr Kreitman, thank you! By the way, my husband decided against OB and is now a family doctor (!) read more

Dr. Kreitmann has been my doctor for 30 years. He delivered both of my children and has performed two additional surgeries on me. I moved to Ellicott City 20 years ago and have been driving to Bowie and/or Silver Spring ever since so I can keep him as my doctor. There is no physician I have ever encountered who is more caring and knowledgeable about his patients and practice. I had to wait very long, more than 1 hour and a half, maybe 2h. Very short consultation. Not interested by me or my questions but by my partner who came with me as he often does to support me. In his report he talks about my partner, a man, his job etc... Questions about our life in MD but not about my health, just to satisfy his own curiosity. In the record, he put false information about me, my man as well, and had this unpleasant smirk during the whole consultation. Limit mean with me. All results came perfect but he wrote that there is a high risk to find something one day. Find another ob. The worse medical experience in whole my life, at least in the top 5. It's hard to trust a doctor again after this experience. Plus, it took week/months to get a copy of the results, sent several times to a wrong address. Imagine they've found something wrong, . you don't know you're ill 2. the whole town can read your records. read more

Dr. Krietmann is a very kind and gentle doctor, but the office is very disorganized. When I came to visit him for fertility testing and treatment I was led to believe that he could help me. That was not the case. He does not offer comprehensive treatments. My husband and I needed to take a full battery of tests. Between limited office hours, office closures and limited services I had to spend HOURS running around across Montgomery county to various clinics. And, 8 months later I am still dealing with his office failing to assign correct coding to some of these tests, leaving me liable to pay hundreds of dollars. His office was never clear on the cost of tests prior to taking them; though neither was my health insurance company. Now that I am with Columbia Fertility, the doctor and staff are keenly aware of the correct codes and costs. I would see Dr. Kreitmann as a gynecologist, but not for fertility. read more

I like Dr. Kreitman and his staff. He's been my doctor for about 10 years. Sometimes you may wait but that's just the way it is everywhere - and less at this office than other places I've been. I don't get the feeling that they "overbook" - more that sometimes people schedule a "routine" appointment when perhaps they should have mentioned they were having problems when they scheduled the appointment - or, the doctor might find something on the exam that needs extra attention. stuff like that. He's professional and respectful. Dr. Kreitmann is phenomenal! He and his staff are kind, responsive and very professional. I went to him after finding him on the Da Vinci surgical website and informed him that I wanted to utilize the procedure. He took the time to explain my medical options very clearly and honestly, the results and any possible side effects. He emailed me and gave me his mobile number and was very responsive when I utilized both. His staff made sure that I had everything I needed and even made appointments for me for pre-op. Dr. Kreitmann also took the time before and after the surgery to reassure me about the procedure, which was unnecessary. Dr. Kreitman has been my doctor for, let's see....over 24 years. I remember going to about 4 or 5 other doctors prior to him and just felt like a number at those places. He has always been professional with common sense and great communication skills. I also appreciate his keeping up with the latest information in the field. He delivered my only child and also, much later, informed me about Essure, which I did have done. Yes, the waits can be excruciating; however, I have always believed they were worth the quality medical care that I have received at the practice. I have even selected health insurance based on access to this office. I know that I will be hard pressed to find a similarly qualified, experienced, professional and caring gyn doctor when he decides to retire. read more
