I have seen several endocrinologists over the years, and in my opinion Dr. Sklar is the best in the area. He has a good bedside manner and seems to genuinely care for the health of his patients. I feel like he goes the extra mile in trying to determine the best medical advice for his patients. My blood sugar control has significantly improved since I started seeing him a few years ago. He is a very good doctor.

Let me start by saying KUDOS to my patient care coordinator "Jo-jo" (Jolissa) Vialva. I cannot praise her enough. She has been my champion and advocate throughout my maternal health journey. (More so than my OBs at Capital Women's Care who don't really seem to care half as much as Jo-jo.) Over the course of 5 months since I first made the appointment to see Dr Kimberly Moon (who was referred by three people I trust, including my gynecologist) Jo-jo has diligently and persistently followed up with me and even just messaged me from time to time to check up on me. I'm blown away because NONE of my doctors ever do that. She truly makes you feel like she cares! I especially appreciate her effort to fit a virtual appointment with Dr. Moon to accommodate my husband and my busy schedules. Initially there was a lot of confusion and miscommunication with my insurance during my transfer from the Shady Grove Fairfax location (which is HORRIBLE). I was very upset, but everything got resolved thanks to Lauren the Director of the Shady Grove DC location who personally called me to rectify the situation. I was extremely impressed by her leadership and the patient-centered resolution. She even gave me her direct phone line to call her if I needed her assistance (though thanks to Kayla the finance coordinator, everything was taken care of as promised.) Her gesture definitely helped build my trust and confidence in the care I would receive at Shady Grove. In terms of actual care/procedure, Dr. Kimberly Moon was very generous with her time -- she was clearly knowledgeable and thorough in reviewing my previous records, and patiently answered my husband and my questions without making us feel rushed. Getting a saline sonogram at the location was seamless: from the check-in process (no wait time) to the friendly front desk staff and the sonographer, everything was efficient and easy. The facility was immaculate. While I can't comment on their IVF treatments, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to SHADY GROVE DC location to receive quality care and follow up!

Working with Shady Grove has been one disaster after another…read more I made a standard appointment for semen analysis. After providing the sample at the K Street location, I was called two days later and informed that the appointment was set up incorrectly and I had to reschedule. No apology or explanation was provided and payment was collected. The next appointment was a hour away from my house but I took it. At the second appointment, I was greeted (Rockville location) by a rude front desk staffer who redirected me to a different floor. At the next front desk, the staff was again disorganized and rude. Today, I was told that results will not be added to my patient portal for up to 30 days, despite being told - repeatedly - that the test takes 7-10 days for results to be returned. To date, no one has apologized for the repeated failures of the staff. No one seems concerned that the staff is incapable of communicating effectively or scheduling appointments. Despite promises, a manager has yet to call me to discuss the situation.

Just some context here - this office does not have a voicemail or messaging service. So in case you need to reach the dr or reschedule, unless someone picks up, you cannot. We tried to call 4 times to reschedule a dr appointment 3 days ahead of the appointmentand the office did not pick up. The day of the dr appointment, they call us and tell us they are charging us $75 fee. I politely suggested they need a phone messaging service and Ken yelled at me and said we need to find a new doctor then that has this service. Ken, sir, this is 2026. All doctors have some way to communicate with their patients and not through one person who does not pick up the phone. The audacity to charge us when it is their lack of customer service and then interrupt and yell at me when I was actually very nicely suggesting a message service. Incredibly rude, avoid this doctor office at all measures. They do not care about their patients.

So when she needed her prescriptions renewed, they said she needed an appointment in person -- no video appointment -- before she could get her meds. The only way to get the prescriptions was if she paid $15 per prescription. Kafka couldn't have come up with a better scheme. Be very wary if this doctor. Avoid if you possibly can and only if you have no other choice. A friend asked for her annual physical from her and Dr Pineda refused we think because it doesn't reimburse enough from insurance.

I really just wanted to get my medications refilled, and I ended up consistently feeling used for my $40 copay rather than seen as a individual deserving of patient-centered care. I can understand that offices are juggling many priorities, have limited funds, and may be understaffed. But this experience left me feeling incredibly frustrated. It was very difficult to navigate prescription refills. When can I get a refill vs. need a new prescription? When do I need to be seen in order to get my medication vs. can get a prescription called over the phone? It was incredibly difficult to figure this out with the staff. A ton of calling back and forth, getting put on hold, etc. I understand that the US healthcare system is frustrating and broken. But my experience with this office felt particularly emblematic of the problems of the healthcare system. This office seriously needs to be better care coordination, person-centered care, and communication with patients.

I (the only patient at 745am) sat and waited several minutes for their conversation to end. It struck me as odd that they would not opt to check in a patient first, then proceed to finish their conversation. It was definitely odd from a patient sat standpoint. 2. Instead of someone coming out to the front to greet me, they yelled my name from somewhere in the back office. I felt like a child being yelled at by my mother in another room in a house. It actually took me a minute to realize they were talking to me because of how inappropriate this behavior was. As someone who has visited many medical spaces for myself and supporting physicians, this was an absolute and shocking first. After realizing I was being called, I said, 'yes', and was advised to 'come back'. I had not been to this office in over a year, and had only been once, I had no idea where I was going. 3. The overall feeling of this office space was cold and lacking any warmth or positive energy. I left feeling like I had done something wrong because I had felt an overall sense of annoyance. After many days of this visit being on my mind, it seems like there had been some changes since last year that definitely affected this space. It was no longer cheerful, warm, or happy. I was relieved to walk out of there.

He is the most patient, knowledgeable doctor I have ever had. He genuinely cares about me and when an occasion comes when I have to see a specialist, I can count on him to (1) send me to someone as professional and caring as he, and (2) be knowledgeable of their recommended treatment and encourage me to follow through, especially when he senses my hesitation. He has never steered me wrong. Now, needing to see another specialist, Dr. Lee has recommended me to someone I feel comfortable that has my best interests at heart. I can't say enough good things about him and know that I will be in his practice for as long as he will have me, which I am hoping will be a long time in the future. His wife, also a doctor, is great, personable, knowledgeable and very patient, although I have not had an occasion to see her in years. All in all, Drs. Lee are the best in DC. Ramey…read more Dr Ramey was good to explain general things about my new health problem and he was really good in monitoring my thyroid levels and adjusting doses of medicine... meaning I felt really good while I was having him as a doctor. He was also good, in comparison to other doctors I am currently seeing, and had sent the lab results after every blood work. Unfortunately he does not accept my new insurance so I had to change my endocrinologist. The only thing that was a bit strange is that he never suggested doing ultrasound or had checked my overall levels of hormones and vitamins (which careful doctor should do) and he did whatever I asked him to check... meaning if I had never asked he would had never recommend it.
