A friend of mine recommended this practice due to her experience with Dr. Jacobs' understanding of her child-free lifestyle in the past. As a woman in my mid-20's, I've had multiple years of gynaecologists turning me down for a tubal ligation and I turned here most recently due to that recommendation. When making my appointment with Dr. Jacobs, the nurse told me that it would be a good idea to get a letter of support from a therapist. So in the weeks leading up to the appointment I met multiple times with a local therapist to discuss my choice to be childfree and to make sure that I was making said decision with the best intentions. She agreed that I was and wrote me a letter of support. When I went to my appointment I brought said therapist letter, as well as letters of support from my mother and boyfriend who also came to the appointment with me. Dr. Jacobs was warm and kind and supremely understanding. He said that while he thought I did deserve the surgery, it wasn't up to him. Due to my age and lack of children, he would have to go to all of the doctors in the practice and get them to approve the procedure. He told me to give him ten days and then call the office. I left this appointment quite hopeful. I ended up calling three separate times and leaving multiple messages with nurses. Nearly three weeks after said appointment I got a call from a medical assistant telling me that they were moving me forward in the process and I'd be meeting with Dr. Julie Glass to discuss next steps. I was ecstatic! When I went for my appointment with Dr. Glass she made it clear that this wasn't the next step in the process, but that Dr. Jacobs had transferred my case to her. I asked if he had spoken to the doctors to get their approval and I was told by Dr. Glass that all of what he said about that was incorrect, as in, he had blatantly, point blank lied to me and my loved ones. In actuality, the decision about this procedure comes down to the individual doctor. She said that while she supports my ability to choose, she no longer does surgery and wasn't sure why Dr. Jacobs had transferred me to her and not another doctor in the practice who does surgery. I found out then that Dr. Jacobs also doesn't do surgery anymore, which was something he never mentioned. Dr. Glass could tell how frustrated I was and said that only three doctors in the practice do these types of operations and she called them to see if any would be willing to take my case. After nearly 15 minutes out of the office, she returned to say that the only doctor who would consider taking my case was Dr. Block, but that she was relatively sure it wouldn't happen due to my age. She then took me to the front and I scheduled in with Dr. Block. While at the desk, Dr. Jacobs was right nearby and acted like he didn't even know me. I called a couple days later and cancelled my appointment with Dr. Block because after thinking about it for a while I realised that this practice was just stringing me along. They had no intention of doing a tubal for me even though I supplied them with all of the documents and info they asked for. They were using me to bill insurance for full gyno appointments and taking my copay money. It's disappointing to say the least. I've been turned down for tubals multiple times over the years, but I've never had a medical practice conduct themselves so unprofessionally. I've never been treated with such a lack of respect. read more

Incompetent office; the staff are plain RUDE! Awful attitude not only when you call them but also when in the office. Last time I was there my appointment was at 9am; waited for 45 minutes to actually get checked in. The nurse assistant barely said a word, had an attitude too. I can't say enough good things about Capital Women's Care formerly Contemporary Ob/Gyn. I have been going there for several years and most recently became a patient of Dr. Block. As with the entire staff including my previous doctor, he was polite, caring, and professional. Dr. Block did an excellent job of assessing my situation, goals and health care needs. He heard my concerns and made recommendations that changed my life for the better in so many ways. Dr. Block preformed a laparoscopic surgery that has already begun change the quality for the better. He and his team have been incredibly supportive. I know I can ask him anything I need to and get a knowledgeable, well thought out answer. Many health care professionals can be in rush to see the next patient. I have never felt that way with Dr. Block or at Capital Women's Care. read more

I had a life-changing surgery for the first time at Contemporary OB-Gyn Associates for a procedure that had permanent results with no turning back. Surgery can be scary with so much uncertainty. The only minor surgery I ever had before that point was dental or having my tonsils removed as a kid. Twenty something years later, I was scared to death! The staff at Contemporary OB-Gyn Associates were so patient and understanding. They dealt with my hundreds of questions, OCD-like cautious nervousness and scrutiny prior to surgery. My surgeon was Dr. Andrew Block and he was excellent! Dr. Ronald Jacobs referred me to him as an expert for the type of procedure I wanted. They are both so friendly and approachable. Dr. Block is recommended as the top laparoscopic surgeon for a salpingectomy, tubal ligations and similar. He is transparent, kind and very empathetic. He will have conversations with you prior to surgery to make sure this is something you want to do and also make suggestions or alternatives. Contemporary OB-Gyn has different locations. I've been to the Silver Spring, Laurel and Rockville locations. I started out with the Silver Spring locations a couple of times. I think it's great that they have different office locations to accommodate your schedule and distance. I give this such a high rating because Contemporary OB-Gyn walked me through a surgery process that always has risks. They took care of me. read more

Dr. Jacob is amazing, very pleasant and personable. He recommends that I do not eat seafood or lunch meat as his ob patient, which can be considered as an overly cautious recommendation. Other ob said that those foods are fine, but it's better to be safe than sorry. The administrative staff is amazing. The only draw back is that Dr. Jacob has a lot of patients, so wait may be an issue and he may only have 15 minutes max for a consultation. read more

My experience with Contemporary OB-Gyn Associates has been outstanding. I called last week to make a new patient appointment and was scheduled to see Dr. Gayle Friedman today. From the moment I walked in the office, I felt I was a valued patient. The receptionist greeted me with a smile and assisted me promptly. I did have to wait for almost half an hour but I understand that sometimes doctors take longer with a patient. The doctor's assistant was very professional and friendly and after quickly checking my height, weight, and blood pressure, I saw Dr. Friedman. The doctor patiently listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and never made me feel rushed. In addition to the annual exam, I had blood drawn and an ultrasound, all in the same place. I've been to many doctors' offices and I must say that Dr. Friedman and the staff are indeed excellent. read more

Today was my first visit with this office. Next visit will be in Rockville and I'll update on that locations yelp. Honestly, I am so pleased with this office! Front desk staff were so kind, welcoming and overall amazing. 10/10 for customer service and not making you feel like you're being annoying. I met with Dr. Brooks and I feel really blessed and lucky to live in this area and have him as someone to trust during a pregnancy. He was so attentive, not rushed and gentle. Honestly, he also seems really smart and capable. He has a lot of years of experience and I felt super comfortable. A lot of people complain about wait time and yes you have to wait, but in reality it isn't a fast food chain and good doctors take their time with the patients. There are not enough stars I could give a contemporary ob-gyn. Let me give an honest review as I possibly enter into my third pregnancy (fingers crossed) with them. Let's get the one downside out of the way upfront: Sure getting through on the phone can sometimes be difficult but only because everyone wants to see them. If you leave a message you will always get a return call. Now that's my only semi complaint and it only happens sometimes. The doctors are wonderful, each and everyone of them. The staff isn't too big that you feel lost, everyone gets to know you and makes you feel special. Front desk is fabulous they know you and address you as you walk in, I love that. I've heard many places you don't get sonograms at their location but here everything is in one place. Bonus for sure. I see Dr.Block, he is not only part of my family but also known as superman in my house. At 35wks pregnant with my now 3yr old after many trips to the ER is screaming pain i saw dr block for my regular check up and he had doubts that this wasn't normal. Immediately he took me down for an MRI only to discover a 18 inch dvt in my femoral vein. Why had no one else discovered is beyond me but that moment I was forever grateful as I was rushed off to holy cross where I was kept until delivery. I probably would have lost my life as well as my daughters if it had not been for him. I spent the next 3 weeks in the hospital high risk perinatal and that Superman visited us almost every chance he could , watching football games and just being there. After the long days they have that really meant the world to us. Fast forward to baby number two. We tried for over 6months to get pregnant. He referred us to and IVF resource knowing how bad we wanted another and the likely hood was not in our favor. Unfortunately the facility we used didn't work for us BUT I ended up getting pregnant on my own which shocked both Dr.B and us for sure. I now have a healthy 10months old boy as well, who Dr.Block delivered at 38 weeks strong and healthy. Every doctor,every staff member is top notch for sure. Dr. Andrew Block is the BEST MD in the world! I have been his patient for 30+ years. He is an excellent clinician and he really cares about his patients. I had multiple miscarriages when when I was in my late 20's. Dr. Block diagnosed my condition & "we" had a successful pregnancy 20 years ago! He ALWAYS goes the extra mile for his patients. I have had other issues after my difficult pregnancy, and Dr. Block has always taken great care of me. My mother, my sister & my best friend, have all seen this A-#1 doctor. This is the most incompetent office I have ever been to. If I could go back in time and change anything in my life I would only go back to make sure I never made an appointment here. The hours are ridiculous and the staff never answers the phone. They called me on a Friday at 3:45 while I was at work and left a message about test results. The message told them to call them back before they closed at 4. I called them back at 3:50 and the phone went straight to voicemail claiming they were already closed. They made me wait an entire anxiety filled weekend to find out my test results. When I called back on Monday morning to finally get the answers I should have been able to get Friday afternoon, they didn't answer the phone until a half an hour after they claimed to be open. Not to mention, on top of all of that, the staff is incredibly rude and treats you like you're the dumbest person to ever step foot in a medical office. As someone with extremely high anxiety, I have never felt more uncomfortable. I left every appointment only to cry in my car. They should be a shamed of themselves. read more

Dr. Jacobs has been my OBGYN through both of my daughter's pregnancies. I can't say enough about what an incredible doc he is! He's so kind and attentive. He doesn't over complicate pregnancy- it's a fun experience! I always knew Dr. Jacobs was taking great care of my babies. He doesn't sweat the small stuff and is always 2 steps ahead of everything. I have epilepsy and was "high risk"- but never worried. Other than knowing my pregnancies were in great hands, the best thing about him? He involved my husband! I am currently a patient of Dr. Ronald Jacobs. I saw him when he was at his old practice and followed him at his new practice. I have recommended a few of my girlfriends to him and they also LOVE him. He is very personable and like one reviewer said he makes the pregnancy uncomplicated. Pregnancy can have you on edge especially if this is your first time but Dr. Jacobs puts you at ease and if he doesn't have the answer he will put you in the hands of another Dr. that does! read more

I'm in the waiting room, 40 minutes after my appointment start time. Just got up to ask the receptionist about what time I'll be seen. I'm a business woman and find it frustrating to make an appointment time, show up 15 minutes early to handle any needed paperwork, only to wait. Waiting room at least has a TV with TMZ. There's a plus for you. Plenty of parking in the lot. I don't even have an appointment with my assigned Doctor. I have an appointment with the first available which I made more than a week ago. read more

I'm just echoing the other reviews at this point because yes the staff is extremely rude. A staff member from the call center just hung up on me in the middle of a conversation. The doctors are good but this office is such a nightmare I've finally had enough. Between the rudest staff I've ever encountered, huge waiting times no matter the time of day, and doctors constantly rescheduling at the last minute, there are offices out there that take better care of their patients. read more

Dr . Andrew Block is the absolute best OB/GYN. I've been a patient at this practice for over 20 years and going to Dr. Block for over 5 or 6 of those. He is the most compassionate, caring, knowledgeable doctor you can find. He has helped my husband and I through pregnancy loss, delivered our two youngest children, and everything in between. He's patient and very well-informed. Just a shirt example, we had a pregnancy loss in 2017 at 13 weeks (which he handled so very kindly and even called us a few days after the procedure to see how we were handling everything) and got pregnant again within two months. When the 7 week sonogram didn't show an embryo I insisted on having a D&C and getting it over with right now because I didn't want to prolong it since we were already dealing with such a recent loss. Dr. Block convinced me to let him monitor my HCG levels and not rush to judgment. Two days later he ordered another sonogram and it showed I was carrying a healthy 7 week embryo. That little guy is now almost 3. He just delivered our 2 month old baby as well. Dr Block goes out of his way to accommodate his patients and my husband and I trust him completely. He's not focused on making money--he's focused on having healthy patients. He spends as much time with you at each visit as needed even though his waiting room is always full. My only regret of not having anymore kids after this last one is that I won't get to see him as often anymore but I will definitely continue going to him for my women's health needs and routine screening every year. read more

Unfortunately, I thought the front desk lady was the only problem at this practice until I met Dr. Jacobs. He was very nice and personable during my visit. He agreed that I must be in extreme pain given all the inflammation I had. He quickly proceeded to send me for an ultrasound which I tried to protest - because even with my limited medical knowledge, I know that it is common to have swollen & painful lymph nodes when there is an active infection/inflammation going on. Mind you, he did not examine said lymph nodes at all. Bottom line, the ultrasound was done solely to bill my insurance and rip me off. The worse was yet to come though. After talking a good game about helping me out of my misery, Dr. Jacobs did not provide me with any form of treatment. I went to the pharmacy hoping that he had sent my prescription (which he said he would) but there was nothing there for me. For almost 2 days, I was in excruciating pain waiting and trying to get some form of treatment from this practice to no avail. What I got was insults from the front desk lady .... and after calling for a second time (and almost begging for my prescription) - not a word from Dr. Jacobs or this office. Needless to say, I contacted another Obgyn today and I was able to get the treatment I needed. I want nothing to do with this practice anymore and will be transfering my prenatal care to another provider. I wonder if Dr. Jacobs thought I went to see him that day just so that I could end up with a hefty bill..... read more

I have been going to this practice for 3+ years. I have a prolapse and history of severe menstruation. Right now I live in fear of my period. On 1/24, I met with my regular Dr and Dr Ng (Surgeon) where we decided on a hysterectomy. It is 3/9 and I have no hysterectomy scheduled. I've had several follow-up calls with their office, expressed my frustration. Tuesday, I called the corporate office where I was referred to the practice manager in Silver Spring. Left her a voicemail before noon 3/7. COB 3/8, I had not received a return call. I don't understand their game here as I am suffering. I really like my Dr. But I cannot recommend this practice and have decided to find a new practice. My trust is broken. read more

I was a patient for close to 10 years. I put up with huge wait times, sometimes waiting 45-60 minutes past my appointment time in the waiting room. I put up with sitting on the waiting room floor once because so many people were waiting there weren't enough chairs. I stayed on as a patient after the doctor I'd been seeing left to join a new practice. But when after my last appointment I called several times and left messages to get test results and NEVER heard back from anyone. I was so furious I am now a former patient. Not being able to get an answer on test results is AWFUL. When I called for results no matter how long I waited on hold I could not get a person on the phone. After I left a message asking someone to call me with my results my heart would race and I would get nervous every time the phone rang thinking it was the doctor's office calling back and I would brace myself for bad news. I am pretty easy going but this was unforgivable. Letting people know test results, especially when there is the potential for bad news should have been a priority but was not. read more

He was very kind and made me feel like he genuinely cared for me and wanted to make sure I was ready for such a permanent decision. He was very knowledgeable and reviewed various options for me. Up until now everything was fine, but the services that I received today we're absolutely horrible. I needed a refill on my birth control prescription and I already missed a day so I called at 8am when they open. I'm assuming they weren't at work on time because they didn't answer my call at 8 am. Called again right after someone picks up, attempting to refill my prescription but I guess there were computer problems but they said I will get my prescription refilled today. Waiting for a call from my local rite aid... nothing. Before I left home at 3 I called the obgyn again to see if it's at my local rite aid. "The obgyn office is closed" but doesn't the office close at 4? Not 3. Called my rite aid and my prescription is not there! I don't care if it is the system, how can you leave work before checking to see if it went through? At least call the rite aid to be sure. But I get none of that. Now I will be 2 days late on my pill because of this office. Doctors are nice but they need better staff. read more
