I visited Olive's in Nyack, NY [118 Main] on Friday, 03/13/26, around 11:30 PM. Upon entering the establishment, I loved the entire atmosphere with live music playing in the background. I was able to sit down at the bar area countertop to order a drink. I spotted the Olive's Winter Cocktails Menu, which piqued my interest. I ordered the Cranberry Orange Whiskey Sour, which came with Whiskey, Cranberry Juice, Ginger Beer, and Lime Garnish. The cocktail was on point with a delicious, fruity flavor. The bartenders were also super pleasant and a joy to be around. Just a note - using a credit card requires a $10 minimum. If you also decide to leave a tab open, a 25% gratuity will be automatically added. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Olive's, especially for bomb cocktail drinks, great music, and wonderful service from the bartenders. read more

First, I want to say that the service was excellent from our bartender. She was very friendly and attentive, and the cocktails were top notch. Really well constructed. The space is very cool. What a great old bar. Beautiful wood work. Nice atmosphere. But, and a BIG but, is that despite what their website says they DO NOT serve any food. Haven't for years. Not a problem unless you have a FULL MENU on your website, which they still do. Duh. So, if you'd like to have a drink at a pretty cool bar, definitely check Olive's out. If you want to eat you should head someplace else. read more

Way better than the bar down the street named "The olde village inn" that place is horrible and no where near as good as this place. Everyone is so kind and accepting unlike the bar down the street. Joined some friends for Emo Karaoke night. Nice bar, crowded but manageable, great atmosphere. We decided to get a drink, waited our turn and constantly got skipped by this older female bartender. She seemed to pick and choose who she was serving. She served this young guy, he paid for his drinks and as he was about to walk away this woman rudely called him back and got on his case for not tipping her at that moment, she was so rude about it. There was no need for this woman to be so rude for a tip that she could have received on another round. At the end we did not get our drinks because we did not want to deal with this angry nasty woman. read more

This place attracts the gamut of people. And it's no surprise because they offer live entertainment and have pool tables. There is outdoor seating right in heart of Nyack so you can hang out and spark in the Hudson Watertown vibe while you sip on your drink of choice or munch on some good eats. The food is phenomenal here. I have a love affair with their spinach dip. They put love and happiness in it. This place is quite often like what Forrest Gump would call "a box of chocolates" in a way because of the diverse crowd. What I can tell you is you will have a great time meeting new and interesting people, jamming to good music, playing some pool or watching the game. read more

I originally wrote this review on a small local facebook group, and it was deleted so I am sharing here on a more public platform where they can not delete it. "You guys have a problem with your beer and your staff gets super rude when you suggest anything about it. Had a fat tire (one of my fav beers) for $9 a couple weeks ago there, and after a single sip I knew it was either bad or your lines haven't been cleaned in a long time. Completely undrinkable. When I told the bartender, she told me it wasnt her problem to deal with. I wasn't asking for a refund, a substitution, or suggesting I wouldn't pay or anything like that. Regardless, she got super rude with me for the suggestion that the beer wasn't right, which could honestly be a health concern if it was the lines and someone got sick from it. Terrible, awful experience and never buying beer there again." It was a slow night, we were one of only about 5 people in the bar early in the week. The music scene here can be fun IF the right people are there that night (often not), but otherwise this place is really just an awful experience all around. Great venue for spring summer chillax on the outside porch. But you have to ask for the music to be made loud depending upon the bartender. Same goes for drinks which are NEVER consistent. I give this one star because I have to, or I can't write a review. The other two recent one-star reviews are totally accurate. It's a crappy karaoke bar that tries-and fails miserably-to do live music on the weekends. So if you like crappy karaoke or The One and Only Frankie D and the Boys, then this is your spot. If you actually want to have a great time and be entertained, there are ten other bars in Nyack you will have a more exciting time at. Go to the giraffe bar and play darts. You'll have a way better time. The owner owns the whole building, so she does not give a shit about the bar, the people that work there, bands that might make the mistake of trying to play there, customers, etc. She gets the rent upstairs. The bar suffers miserably. If a business is a reflection of its owner, well.....this bar is an absolute joke. read more

It should tell you a lot about a place when the owner/management doesn't care enough to claim their Yelp page. Obviously they couldn't care any less what people have to say about their business. How about that outdated, 1998 website? Again, what does this say about the owner/management? I went there Saturday night to see one of my new favorite Dead tribute bands. They charged a $10 cover charge. The sound sucked. We came to discover the venue told the band there would be someone running sound, and as it turned out, the owner lied and there was never a sound guy set up for the show. So, wtf are you charging a cover for if you don't have a professional sound guy? You're just that greedy? We asked for our money back and the a-hole at the door said, "sorry, no refunds". Obviously they are that greedy. We ended up going to Casa Del Sol right down the block and had a great time. Won't make the mistake of going to that dying bar Olive's again. Wondering what happened to my review why it was not posted or taken down. This place is a joke it's absolutely disgusting and dirty. The owner claims she needs help, makes she work for day and doesn't pay you. She runs an illegal Salon upstairs in one of the apartments of the building. I wouldn't eat the food if you brought it in from somewhere else and plated it there. Don't ever be in there with the lights on, you'll throw up on the floor. *Pre COVID Review* Oh how I wish things were back to normal so I can visit Olive's for karaoke night. I'm not one to have a great voice but I love listening to others who do. It's a great, charming place for people to enjoy a cold one and interact with one another. It's a really laid back environment which I admire. If you're looking to make new friends, visit here. Olives has been around for decades. I've been through several name changes management upheavals. I've been patron,, A team member(pool/billiards league), And a performer. Yes they have live music. And it is good and it is often. Olives is a Nyack constant. Having moved out of the area, I haven't been there in a long time... Poked my head in the other day and the owner Marianne (a Nyack legend and force to be reckoned with) now has her daughter olive on the team. I don't know if she's a bartender a manager or just keeping an eye over the family business. But as I said Olive's, Blondies, Saints and scholars, and all that came between... this place is an anchor in Nyack. Dependable consistent fun clean, friendly staff. Good pool tables with sticks that have tips! And still keeping the Nyack live music scene alive. As all the others come and go... Olives is Right in the heart of Nyack. A good place to start the night... And Probably the best place to finish it. read more

Went for a stroll with the family around Nyack and came across this place for lunch and decided to give it a try and from the start it was a pretty lowzy. I'll start with some of the positives which were the wings and that our waiter was a nice guy and tried to make things right about the rest of this review. The pretzels were rock hard and not edible, they must have been several days old. The serving size of the entrees are pretty small and especially for the price. The entrees of schnitzels were just ok and overly fried and dry while the fries also were old tasting and bland. Not sure if this was just an off day but it was disappointing. read more

Hey, Olive! Heads up...you run a shitty operation. The fact that I regularly clean up broken glass bottles that get tossed over a fence by your staff into my backyard really sucks. And what really, really sucks is when I don't notice it right away and my dogs come close to gashing their paws open when they're wandering around in our yard. And what really, really, really sucks is that you've been notified of this issue (and others) and you've chosen to ignore it. I don't care how cool of a bar you might be...figure out how to channel some class and respect your neighbors. read more

These 1 star ratings are surely undeserved. Though most of what is said is true (grungy, divey) these are the reasons why the people who love Olives love it so much. However, other comments are simply odd. Terrible parking? That's cause you're smack in the middle of the bar scene in Nyack. You're gonna have to handle this no matter where you go. In short, If you are a fan of the pourhouse, black bear, or bourbon street, just forget about Olive's and go to where you're comfortable (and don't bother reviewing Olive's). If you're tired of spending time in cookie cutter bars, and like to have cheap vegan food options, then head straight to Olive's. True, I lament the loss of the skiball machine and photobooth, but the bar still retains most of its style. You get a little bit of everything and everyone here, which is what I love about Nyack. Nothing on the menu is over $10, the food is delicious, fresh, and healthy, and the waitstaff is honest and caring. While eating indoors can be a little dark, there are tables outside where you can people watch while you enjoy your vegan/ vegetarian/ or meat lovin' meal. This is a great place for lunch! read more

For what this place is here in Nyack, you just can't go wrong at Olive's. Very nice and cool bartenders. Good food. Very underrated for main street bar food scene. They have fresh unsalted homemade potato chips at the bar on the house. Known for its Live music scene at night a few times a week at least. You will always see a few locals here. Visited this location during the evening hours on 02/28/12. I must say I will definitely return to this bar. THE PROS: - happy hour goes from 5pm to 9pm - I volunteered to pay for the first round (4 beers on tap / during happy hour) and was elated when the bartender asked for $11 - we had wings and calamari (both were awesome) - two pool tables with plenty of space to shoot - backstage set up for live bands (I did not get to see the band because I left at 9pm) - bartender was cordial and very knowledgeable of beers on tap - great selection of drafts - plenty of seats (very long bar) - very cool display of antique items throughout the bar THE CONS: - depending on the time of your arrival, street parking could be an issue - could have used a little more sauce with the calamari (I know, I know. . . .I should have just asked for more. lol ) read more

what can I say, hands down the best bar in Nyack. AWESOME beers on tap, kudos to any place that has Dales Pale Ale on tap ALWAYS. Awesome bartenders, the food is pretty damn good. I suggest you go for the Thai Chili Wings! The new happy hour hours are ridiculous. 5pm-9pm, half off drinks and appetizers. Cannot be beaten. Don't forget, buckets of 6 PBRs for $12! In a town where the weekend crowd is full of 'Woo Girls' and 'Bros', Olive's is a breathe of fresh air. Great live music, great people, great food, great beer, and great beer specials! This is the closest you're going to get to a Brooklyn bar on this side of the river. Some good selections on tap (Defiant, Dogfish Head, Dale's Pale etc.). The food is decent. I've had the wings and a chicken sandwich and they were solid bar eats. The staff here really bust their butts to get everyone lubricated. They make a really strong effort to get some decent independent music acts here and are mostly successful. You can download whatever on the jukebox. Sometimes thats a good thing, sometimes bad, sometimes awesome (I'm lookin' at you "Return Of The Mack" by Mark Morrison) Really, it's a great place to get drunk and then go eat pizza down the block at 1am. read more

Two wildly different experiences. First time, good cheap drinks, decent cheal apps, good music, good pool, eclectic crowd. Couldn't wait to come back. Returned a few weeks later; got a seat at the end of the bar. One bartender must have been going off duty and walked past me . A second one dropped of something by the register and walked away; neither could be bothered to call the bartender at the other end of the bar while he chatted and leisurely served his friends. Finally, I raised my hand, hoping he's acknowledge me. No acknowledgement, but he began walking down to my end of the bar. A few friends walked over and he made a beeline to them. I've been in the food business most of my life. I guess the bartender figured it made him cool to ignore me. Or, maybe, the guy has no peripheral vision. Do yourself a favor and start off your visit by being overly friendly with the bartender because it might raise your chances of havin better and faster service.
