I started searching in Orange County area. Unfortunately, no one showed much interest because it was a small project. Everyone I contacted seemed rude. Very disappointing! I started a search in Oceanside since I work in the area and came across Mike. My goodness! Was I lucky to find this beautiful studio and Mike? A breath of fresh air! An amazingly professional recoding studio and engineer beyond my imagination. He got us in the studio within a couple of days and we had the vocals recorded. The studio is beautiful, immaculate and extremely well put together. Within an hour, Mike recorded four different takes of the vocals for the song and emailed us the files while we were there. The music for the song was produced and arranged in Afghanistan. I sent the vocals that were recorded in the ERAVOX Studio to the studio in Afghanistan and they will mix and master the song there. To my surprise, Mike just texted me today, almost three weeks after our session, to see if I had the final product back and that he was wondering how everything turned out. Based on my research around Yamaha pianos I think their pricing is overall pretty good/competitive. I blind purchased (tried same model in a different showroom) a used Yamaha YUS-1 and had it delivered to the San Francisco Bay Area because we don't have a lot of stock for that model in this area. Despite a small delay seemingly out of their control the whole process / logistics went really smoothly and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them again.

I was lucky to recently start recording my new…read morealbum at 1221 with Drew - I've made 3 albums and have mostly recorded and produced them on my own, but I've gone a different direction with my writing and wanted to work with Drew for this new batch of songs. The experience so far has been truly inspiring. Drew has a gift for communicating when it comes to music - he understands the intangible and it didn't take him much effort to see my vision and know what I was going for. We were able to accomplish things together that I never could without him, and the experience of working together was joyful. Drew is easy-going and fun; he has a really disarming quality that is an invaluable trait for a producer and collaborator generally. When I asked for Drew's help in playing a part on electric guitar (his playing is beautiful), he was more than happy to see what he could come up with, and within minutes he was playing exactly what I hoped might be added to my song. Drew is very open to any ideas and prioritizes staying true to an artist's vision. He is encouraging and creatively nurturing. But above all else Drew is an amazing person. He's kind, fun to be around and the atmosphere at his studio is really lighthearted and beautiful. Drew's setup is amazing, literally a dream come true. The space is really fun to work in and the tools at Drew's and his clients' disposal are state of the art and very carefully, expertly chosen and arranged. I'm a piano player and I love the upright at 1221! I found myself feeling really creative with it. There's a really special organ there, a Juno-106 (and other synths), and some amazing guitars. All recorded through the best outboard (including amps in a booth if your music has guitars) and some lovely microphones. It's magical. I greatly admire Drew's work - he is a brilliant engineer and producer. He pays very meticulous attention to every detail of a mix and has a wonderful sense for subtlety, always finding what will complement each sound. The sounds are so clean and beautiful; Drew's recordings are elegant and graceful. He EQ's and compresses tracks perfectly and has a very tasteful ear for panning and using effects exactly how they ought to be used. He's also great at mastering! If you are a producer looking for someone with a trustworthy second pair of ears to tastefully master your music with some really nice outboard gear, Drew and 1221 are a really excellent option. Speaking to the efficiency of Drew's work and keeping costs effective, my expectations were exceeded. Drew and I have finished the better part of entire songs in one session. My experience at 1221 was glorious and I can honestly say that I found something in my music there that I had never found before. Drew is very talented at bringing that out of people and he provides an environment and atmosphere where it's not only possible, but likely. Thank you so much Drew and the crew at 1221. If you happen to produce any audio or video content, this place is truly your ideal location. They are also in a great spot within walking distance to several great restaurants. The cost is very reasonable considering all the perks, including options to book private rooms when needed, a cold brew & kombucha tap, extra monitors at workstations, standing desks. They also do a wonderful job of hosting regular events at the cowork space including potlucks, chili cook offs, member appreciation parties. Everyone here is extremely kind and welcoming and I feel I've made long lasting relationships with people I've met. Before joining this location, I found myself going a bit crazy working from home. If you're at all considering a cowork space, this is the spot you'd dream of.

First wonderful experience at the Film Hub was our baby shower in 2024. The theme was "on cloud…read morenine" and needed lots of space for the guests. Loved having an indoor and outdoor option as the shower was in January. Outside offered a really convenient area for our food truck to cater our food fresh off the grill. Clarissa was such a big help when it came to all the possible configurations to help accommodate us and our guests. She kept all our details organized and was very responsive to our last minute requests through email. We had such a great experience that we booked with the Film Hub for our son's first birthday. That theme was "our little dumpling". Once again, Clarissa was sooo good at helping us fit all the things we wanted for his party. She even went out of her way to help me measure the staircase while we did our walk through with my baby. We had another food truck, a soft play area, space for a balloon arch, and space for his desserts as well. I really can't sing Clarissa's praises when it came to assisting with this party. And my son LOVES her on top of that. If you want a lovely, personal experience for your party, have it at the Film Hub!
