Their regular price is $45 and they…read morehave a stamp card where after 5 facials you get one free (which they didn't give me the first time I went, mind you). Price wise, it's unbeatable in this area. As far as what the price gets you...well a student edition that's slower and therefore abridged. There's a lot they simply don't have time for as the student tries to rush through everything in about 45minutes. The first time takes longer as there's a review of your intake forms, and a discussion on what products to use during this facial. After cleansing, an instructor comes in to check your skin and advise the student on what to do and what products to use. I found this process useful for determining what products I should and should not use. I came back and scheduled with the same student just to get an idea of how much my skin might've improved after following the instructors advice. Very useful. They student double cleanses while streaming your skin. There's always makeup removal even though I've tried telling them I have permanent makeup and no additional makeup on. I really wished they would add this to their chart so we can just skip all this "makeup removal" when no makeup is worn. Anyway, after double cleansing there's an inspection, in my case exfoliation, a mask, and then some treatment as necessary. I assume not everyone has the same treatment as we have different issues to address. Overall the rooms and tables are comfortable. They play pleasant music. It's meant to be a relaxing spa experience. However, as they don't have any lymphatic massage included, or bring any of the facial down to your neck/chest, it really feels a little j complete. There's also not been any extraction even though estheticians usually would extract.

Ms Le's business is staying in my contact list! I have not come out of a hair perm and totally…read morehappy with it before my first wash! This is a responsible business and the staff provide good services. It is a hair salon as well as a spa with services as mani-pedi, massages, facials. It is great they open on Saturdays so I get stuff done. I have had facials and massages done and they are high quality. For what they charge me, I am mostly wanting a decent haircut, I always leave the place smiling and satisfied, not to mention warm even if it is winter, as Ms Le, her sisters and staff are always so welcoming. Ms Le's business is an academy so she gets to pick good staff. She walks around the salon to help out even, so as a customer, I feel like I get taken care of even if I just come in for a haircut. Of course if I want my hair done by the master herself, then I am willing to pay more, she is very skilled as I observed when she once supervised the staff who cut my hair and gave me some layering. My hair condition is much better now and I thank Ms Le for it. Several months' back, I wanted to perm even shortly after coloring. Ms Le advised me to wait and gave me a good hair cut with nice layering instead of just taking my money. So today, when I see how my hair looks healthier and I got my perm, I am happy and satisfied is also why I write my review even though I am a bit wary to share my 'secret'. My hair has not felt healthier. She is fair and if there is a seven star, I give it to her as the prices are reasonable and the products used are good quality. I have had my facials done and her sister did a very good job for me too. It feels like they just want to do their best for their customers. I am just going to come here'

I found Le Arai because I was searching for DC-area beauty schools that offer haircut services…read more(often the best bet for a low-cost haircut that still looks good). Upon arriving I learned that this is NOT the school - the school is now at Le Arai 's Annandale location. That's a bit far even for me to travel to save money on a haircut, and fortunately, the price here was still a bargain -$35 for wash, cut and blow-dry. Tina was my stylist, and she was fantastic - a thorough and relaxing hairwashing, and the cut by itself took maybe 30 minutes. I showed her some photos of the style I wanted and she recreated it quite nicely for me. She was also very warm and friendly while also being focused on her work during the cut - all essential qualities for me in a great hair stylist. The salon is a bit of a walk from the metro station (though there's a nice, large parking lot if you're driving), so I might hesitate to return in the winter months if it's very cold or snowy. That said, beauty school haircuts can be hit or miss, and after today's experience I'm thinking Le Arai will be all hits, so I'm definitely planning to return.

While in school, commuting from Maryland, my daughter OFTEN drove all the way to school to find out…read more15 minutes before class started that it was cancelled. New teachers came in and out and even the graduation was pure chaos and disorganization. What broke the camel's back for us is this - Upon our first tour with our daughter, we made it very clear that she lived in Maryland, will take the exam in Maryland and will work in Maryland. "Will her courses from this Virginia school apply to Maryland State Board?" We were told yes multiple times. Now that she is done with the basic and masters, we then find out, "well no, you have to take it in Virginia and then transfer it to Maryland"... that's not what you said. We got approval for her to take the exam in Maryland just for her to find out only 5 questions applied to her learning. When she asked her teacher, why it was so different, she said "well I don't teach to the Maryland exam". We have since run into several Marylanders that were told the same thing. Why LIE? Not omit... LIE. Now my daughter has to go throw a series of hoops that wouldn't have applied to her if they did the right thing to begin with. I cannot wait until she is done with this school. I plan on telling every soul that asks, do NOT register for AVI. Please, please do not.

I've been going to Paulette for over 5 years and have always had the best hair experience. I get compliments from strangers at malls, work and at party events. Very professional and lovely environment. I would never switch to another salon. My mom introduced me to Paulette years ago. Paulette trained my mom (a cosmetologist as well) on new trendy styles etc. after my first visit, I was hooked onto Paulette's magnificent highlights, haircut she did to my hair. I am really impressed by Paulette's mastery how she blends colors to make my hair look so pretty. I have definitely gotten plenty of compliments over the years regarding my highlights and layers.
