While understanding that everyone's experiences with cosmetic injections will not be the same, there are some things that are quite obviously not acceptable like noticeable unevenness. I scheduled online with Jamie for July 2nd for laser hair removal. Jamie never introduced herself and jumped right into confirming what areas I wanted laser on and talking about the type of results I would see from the first session. She asked if I had any questions and asked if I needed to know pricing and then explained the packages. I wanted to try it out first before making a commitment so I said I would buy this first session and come back for a package. That was the extent of the conversation before she had me get undressed and was ready to begin. When she began on my underarms, the pain was unbearable. I winced and told her wow, I've had laser before years ago and do not remember it being this painful. Her response was "yeah, it's not comfortable." When she started on my Brazilian bikini, I could not handle the pain and told her "I usually have a high pain tolerance, but this is really terrible." Her response was, "Well, laser is a different kind of pain." As she continued and I continued to sweat, wince, and squirm, she said she could turn the laser down if I needed her to and I said yes please. She was doing the laser in one full length motion, which was something that didn't help for tolerating the pain, so she asked if it would be better if she did just a few zaps at a time. I said yes. Well, when it was time to do my lower legs, she must have turned it back up and she did NOT do small sections or a few zaps at a time -- she went from the top of my knee all the way to my ankle. I continued to sweat profusely, and I was wincing and squirming. My legs were in unbearable pain -- this coming from someone that raced BMX at the national level and has had multiple compound fractures and about 17 surgeries. I told her that I felt like a baby and her response was that laser definitely doesn't feel good. I got in my own head thinking maybe this is just how it is and hopefully she just knows what she's doing. There was no offer of making me any more comfortable or asking if I was okay. Two days later, I woke up with raised hives all over my lower legs, the part of my body that was in the most severe pain during my session. My Brazilian and underarm areas were fine. I texted the owner, Jackie. She said this is "totally normal" and is just a heat rash. She told me to put some hydrocortisone on it and let her know if it got worse over the next few days. Two of the many, many hives were much larger than the others and did break and ooze a little. By day 4 after the session, the hives were beginning to get smaller but turn purple. After calling around and speaking with other med spas in the area, speaking with my aunt who is laser certified in Arizona who shared the story with her past laser educator, I determined this heat rash was not "totally normal" and it was the fault of the laser tech that performed the treatment. One of the nurses I spoke with specifically said, "Laser is uncomfortable and sometimes a bit painful but should never be intolerable or unbearable and if that is your experience, then you are in the wrong place." I texted Jackie, the owner, again about my concerns and requested a partial refund. I sent her pictures of my legs. Jackie said she doesn't do refunds over the phone and would need to see me in person. She also said she would like to have Jamie call me. Jamie called me and was immediately defensive. She did not start off with an apology. She started with "I tell all my patients at the beginning that if the laser is to hot and they need me to turn it down I would be happy to and you never verbalized that you were in pain." I was in shock and completely APPALLED at her defensiveness and severe lack of customer service skills. She did NOT once tell me that in the beginning as you'll recall from my recollection of how my appointment began and she only offered to turn it down when I DID verbalize my pain. I verbalized my pain MULTIPLE times AND it is a laser technicians job to understand the cues of pain from their client -- profuse sweating, shaking, squirming, wincing, kicking feet. Especially after the pain was verbalized and nothing was done so all I had left to do was give physical cues. As I explained this to Jamie over the phone, she continued to interrupt me and be completely rude. During my appointment with Jackie, she completely defended Jamie, basically blamed my skin, but did refund me for the legs portion of my laser hair removal. She said it could take 30-60 days for the rash to clear. She was just as unprofessional as Jamie, rude and condescending, even laughing as she made a comment back to me. I implore you to do your research and go elsewhere. Don't just research the reviews like I did. Call around, get a feel for how the med spa operates, and determine if the people that work there are professional and deserve your business. Also, don't buy a package right away, because if something goes wrong, you're committed and I highly doubt they'd be willing to refund you. read more

It was really important to me to get my injectables from a medical professional rather than just an esthetician and Arlene is an RN. Unfortunately at this point my experience with this business now goes beyond just one, or even two, bad experiences. My first visit - Botox went well. The marionette lines filler on the other hand left me bruised for weeks. A few months after these treatments I went back for Botox only. I had an appointment with Jackie. While I was waiting for her, a couple walked in, she met with them took them back to a treatment room and left me sitting there. 15 minutes later, Jo the partner at the time, brought me back to a room, told me Jackie couldn't see me so she would do my treatment. Being passed off to another person was incredibly awkward and made me feel very uncomfortable. I wasn't buying a cup of coffee, I was there to have Botox which involves a level of trust and comfort with the practitioner. Needless to say I hadn't been back. I also held off on writing a negative review until now because of the following... I started receiving text marketing messages that I never authorized. The first couple of messages were a bit odd, and imo borderline inappropriate for a business marketing message - one message read 'hey gorgeous' (which was all I could see first) then when you clicked to read, listed the promotions and business. From my viewpoint I saw a text from a number I don't know and 'someone' calls me gorgeous ..it comes across as condescending at best. Given I couldn't quickly find the way to unsubscribe I continued to delete their messages, until this weekend when I was tired of deleting them, and still did not see a way to unsubscribe. Which brings me to this review. I've uploaded images of the text between myself and Olive Tree when I ask to be removed from text marketing messages. The final response was unnecessarily defensive, irrational and antagonistic. I only wanted to stop getting these text messages (that I never authorized in the first place) so I could stop being reminded of my bad experience... I should not have to be scolded and shamed for that. I'm exhausted just writing this so hope it proves useful to others. read more

I received an email deal offering IPL and Latisse for $200. I've had IPL before elsewhere but had been wanting to do a 3rd treatment to further remove pigmentation and redness from my face, so this came at an opportune time. However, I was not happy with the results. I know nothing is guaranteed, but nearly two weeks post-procedure I see no discernible difference in the quality or appearance of my skin. I contacted the owner about this, and was told that essentially "the benefits of the treatment happen below the surface..and do not show up immediately". Which I knew, but I would have expected to see some improvement by this time. The owner also told me 3-5 treatments could be needed to achieve my desired result. The issue for me is that this *was* my third treatment (not with this provider). So I saw no difference on this. I asked the owner, would you then suggest I should opt for two more IPL treatments in hope that after one or two more -- knowing on this third treatment I saw NO difference, that I would then suddenly see a difference? That's a pretty big leap of faith for me. I suspect that what I had hoped to obtain from the procedure, which I conveyed to the technician before starting, was not possible and yet because it was the end of the day and I had gone in on a deal, it was sort of "just do it". When I wrote back again to the owner asking what she suggested, she only sent a curt and dismissive response implying that I didn't communicate with the technician and that "we will not be giving a refund" although at no time did I ask for a refund. I asked for remediation, but she apparently has no interest in satisfying a new customer. I harbor no illusions that any cosmetic treatment is perfect, but I feel strongly that the technician knew I wouldn't get much benefit from this but proceeded anyway. In fact, as I sat down, she told me my skin was really nice. Too nice for this? I wondered. I did ask if the spots I indicated would be affected by the IPL. In emailing the owner almost 2 weeks after the fact, I was genuinely interested in knowing what they would suggest to resolve my complaint, (is there a different, better procedure? something else you'd recommend?) but it sounds like their preference is simply that I not come back. Duly noted, and happy to oblige! Would rather pay full price for a practitioner who actually listens to their customers when unsatisfied with results. Or who don't happily take their customers' money without advising them the thing they're paying for isn't likely to do a lot of good. read more

I'll admit it, I get Botox. As a woman who's in her thirty-somethings, it was time. At least in my opinion. To each their own when it comes to appearance and other such personal decisions. Jackie and JoEllen have Botox'd me up and I really enjoy both of their "styles", shall we say, when it comes to injectables. They err on the side of minimalism and/or caution; because they don't overdo it, no one can tell unless they look really, really hard at my forehead. Or read this review. There are some misconceptions about the cost of Botox and since I'm not a medical professional who specializes in injectables, I cannot comment on that in-general. However, I spend about $200 every 4-5 months to keep the age lines away. One more thing that gives Olive Tree that extra star? I had consulted a different business about Kybella and the person at that business had not only offered her advice about that service, but also had tried to "upsell" on additional Botox or fillers around my facial line. I don't think she meant any harm or foul, just offering an opinion (for which I had asked). When I went back to Olive Tree for a Botox reboot, JoEllen and I talked about the recommendation I'd received and she was not in agreement. "Unless it really bothers you, don't worry about it". A while back I had a IPL from Jamie. As we were doing this I was talking to her about these broken capillaries on side of nose. She said she could do it for me and so I agreed and she did. Well, during that procedure one of the zaps hurt pretty bad, after it , I looked into the mirror and where the one that hurt, it was swollen, it looked like a big whitehead on the side of my nose. I asked her if it was normal and she said yes and not to mess with it. I never messed with it, and it was like that for quite a while. It scabbed up and when the scab finally fell off, I was left with 2 small crater scars! Now when I put my makeup on, it settles into those 2 scars! It is VERY noticeable! I did contact the owner, she wanted me to come in so she could look at it. I didn't feel comfortable coming in to the same place where I complained. So here I am, with 2 indented scars on the side of my nose , for the rest of my life. I do not recommend Jamie. read more

Perfect. This Medspa was perfect. Though it was tricky to spot while zooming on University and Evans, I was informed of a parking garage below them. Though I decided that the neighborhood parking was also decent, not packed, and ticket free! OliveTree is located inside a salon (JC Salon) and in one of the rooms on the left from the greeter! First off, the room is so tiny but comfortable. Jackie was professional each time and understood my needs. I needed to get injected with additional Botox, but only two units to satisfy my needs. I was under injected by my last doctor so a difference in doctor isn't always a bad thing. Joellen was also present in the room and made the experience very pleasant and welcoming. The process was way better because after the injection, it wasn't so bad and the red bumps from the after injection went away major quick!!! I used to love olive tree. But it changed. Now it feels less like a medical spa and more like a lower end place with requests for Venmo tips in each room. I had a similar experience as an earlier poster re Jamie with laser- both in her lack of professionalism (from no Introduction to defensiveness when I politely raised follow up concerns). I was very uncomfortable/ lots of pain during treatment, which I voiced and was told "yeah, it is uncomfortable", and had long-lasting issues. I chose to have Restylane silk done to my lips. One syringe and 15 mins later- I returned to work. Iced for the rest of the day and night and part of the next morning. I did what nurse Jackie suggested and took Arnica for the bruising and swelling. This helped immensely. Just one tiny area of bruising on my top lip, but nothing that makeup couldn't cover.
