I've been going to Ted's for many years now. The number one reason, Bob (the owner) is a…read morecompletely honest guy. One of the worst things about taking your vehicle somewhere is you're a little bit at the mercy of the mechanic. Will they fix the right thing, will they fix more than you needed, will they overcharge? I don't have to worry about any of that taking it to Ted's. One of the first times I took my car in when I was 16, it was leaking transmission fluid. When I came back to pick it up he said that he put it up on the lift and saw that there were just some loose bolts so he tightened em up and added some transmission fluid. I asked how much I owed him. He said ah $5 for the fluid. Wow! Most mechanics never miss a chance to charge whatever they can. Go to a dealership and it's a minimum of $50 just to pick your car up on the hoist, whether they do anything or not. He once fixed a part and the problem continued so he didn't charge me for the next fix. Just recently (16 years later) I took my truck in as it was idling poorly. He drove it around and looked into it and figured out that the problem was a loose plug wire. No charge. I told him he was welcome to charge me for the time, even $20 or something. He said it didn't take that long so I shouldn't worry about it. I insisted that he take some money, so he said fine if you really want to pay something then I'll take $5. After some hard negotiation we met in the middle and I paid him $10. This is the only mechanic I'm comfortable dropping my vehicle off at and saying, just fix it, I don't care what it cost. I couldn't imagine taking it anywhere else and saying that. I love the peace of mind of having a quality trustworthy mechanic like Bob around. I strongly recommend Ted's to everyone. Yup your vehicle broke, it stinks. It's going to cost some money. Nothing you can do about that. But there's no reason to stress about getting ripped off. Just drop it off at Ted's and forget about it. His pricing is always low and I've always felt more than fair in my favor. If he raised his prices I wouldn't complain at all. Thanks for the years of great service, Bob! Only downfall is Bob is typically swamped with business and it may take awhile to get your vehicle in. So if you need a repair NOW! You might have to go elsewhere. He's a one man crew. But on the upside of that you know you're going to get their best mechanic on your vehicle every time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I noticed my Chevy S-10 was pulling to one side. So I took it into F&F to get an alignment. The mechanics told me they were unable to do the alignment until they changed a bunch of parts for a total bill of $556.97. So I called Bob and this was basically how the conversation went. Hi Bob, this is Nate with my red S-10. I'm at F&F fleet and they said they can't do an alignment because I need to replace A,B,C. How much would that cost to fix. Isn't your S-10 2WD. A and C aren't on a 2WD. If the tire is loose it probably just needs the bearing packed. Probably $60 (that was the quote, he charged less). Just bring it in on Wednesday and I'll get it taken care of. $556.97 vs $50 your choice!
