I had wanted braces for a while. Most people didn't notice, but I had mild issues on my top row of…read moreteeth and moderate crowding on the bottom. I went to several consultations over the years, but it was not until a few months ago that I decided to finally do something about it. On September 1, 2020, I went for a braces consultation here. I knew that Birmingham Orthodontics does same day braces so I had my teeth cleaned by my general dentist a couple weeks prior. At the consultation, I had X-rays, pictures, and an examination of my teeth. After that, the orthodontist told me I was a good candidate for braces. He also said I could get my braces same day, which I chose to do. I paid and then I got my braces on. It was an easy process. I was not in any pain during or after the braces being installed. I have been back twice since my braces were initially installed. Each time, the staff has taken precautions for Covid-19 and has been prompt and professional. When I ask questions, they have been answered. My treatment so far has been great! My teeth are moving well! I'm looking forward to this journey to straighter teeth. If you decide to go based on this review, please tell them Val Williams sent you!

I was…read moreactually amazed that the top braces went on my daughter in a matter of minutes... we have to wait on the bottoms due to top needs more work. The orthodontist we had was a very nice older gentleman that takes the time to understand what is needed and quickly determines the path that is needed... and if you are ready, and they can fit you in they can put them on right after the initial consult. That is what we opted for... now as far as the "tune ups" every 6 weeks, these are pretty quick as well. My daughter is only back there for about 15 minutes. Now not knowing anything about braces as I never had the opportunity as a child. Needless to say braces are a lot of work as well to maintain. My daughter was not fully prepared but is finally getting the idea. I will say do your research on additional items you need. Like little brushes for "in between tooth paste brushing. Also listen very close to the instruction, these are not a suggestion but mandatory. If you do not take care of these they can actually damage your teeth... all of this information is give. To once the braces are on. As far as cost... yeah it is kinda expensive, but if you need to you can finance them... All in all we are really happy with this place, and I would recommend anyone here to get their teeth straightened.

I have seen quite a few dentists and been quoted 50 and 75 thousand dollars to " truly " fix my teeth. I have been told it would be a fix that may need re fixing after 10 or so years. I have never showed my teeth or smiled with an open mouth. The very first time I met with Dr Pruitt and his staff, I was completely at ease. They took the time to explain my options, and helped me through being able to secure financial options that I could afford. The very first day after I left his office I went to wal mart and 2 different ladies stopped me and told me I had "beautiful teeth"!! I have never in 59 years ever heard someone say something positive about my smile!! I wish I had done this 40 years ago! I highly recommend them! They promised a life changing experience! They have definitely delivered!!!!! Thank you so much for giving me the confidence that I have never had!!!!

Dr. Pruitt completely ruined my teeth. He said "trust me,…read moretrust me" .... And I did. **check Reddit for more *real* reviews on this guy!!!! ** Dr Pruitt shaved down my teeth & gums down to almost nothing. He never properly addressed my problems, instead pushed blame, and lied to my face. I'm not sure he even knows ANYTHING about real dentistry to be honest.. he is EXTREMELY aggressive - leaving me in A LOTTTTTT of pain after each visit, and almost always, an infection. Dr. Pruitt also REFUSES to ever take accountability for his wrongdoings. Red flag right there He cared more about what my reaction would be for the camera rolling (after waiting 1hr in the chair being told not to look "he wants to see my reaction" btw) - then my genuine care and comfort of a new, "amazing quality, healthy smile" - I knew I was in serious trouble.. After leaving his work unfinished - even after a second attempt, with a second set of PERMANENT crowns(and multiple temporaries) I will still need them ALL completely redone. The problems he was suppose to fix with the second set of perms, I have begun having the same issues, the problem is STILL not resolved. Almost a year later! Dr. Pruitt denied me a refund, but he made sure he had me sign a piece of paper denying ANY wrongdoings - even after giving me laughing gas, and novacane (keep in mind, I had no teeth in my mouth- just the grinded stumps he left in my mouth) and I was too numb to explain myself (i had Theresa go back 3 times to fix the paper before I gave up) I Traveled to Alabama, from NY a total of - SEVEN TIMES!!! And LOST close to 100k$ in the process!!!!! he promised to take care of "my nightmare", but the nightmare really had just begun. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! He is NOT who he portrays to be. Use your discernment with this guy, seriously.. he did serious damage to me, for life.

However, my husband also has transitioned to this office, along with one of our adult children. Besides my dentist, there has been a lot of transition in the office, with all but one of his previous staff leaving by this year. I also noticed that the other dentists in the office have changed several times, with only my dentist being the same one still there within 18 months. I have not had the same hygienist clean my teeth in the three times I've been there. This is a bit of a change from any dental practice I've ever experienced, ever throughout the course of several decades in a couple states. I guess the dental industry is changing a bit, and if you are going to a chain dentist, you aren't going to have the same person cleaning your teeth every 6 months for years. I will probably miss walking and recognizing people, or having them ask about the kids and family, but as long as I get a good cleaning every 6 months, that should be sufficient. I'll be interested to see who might be there next year when I go back.
