I was looking for a great place to have my hair braided, and although there's a number of places around they all had mixed reviews. I'm always skeptical about these things, and when I read a review I take notice to the number of "bad reviews" and look for a trend or consistency in the lack of service. Many of them had the same complaints. So about a year ago, I moved to this area and my hair stylist at the time worked at, "Premier818Signature" Salon in Gaithersburg, MD and recommended the owner, Olga, and praised her work. So I decided to give her a try. I'm so glad that I did. When I called, she was able to make my appointment at 9 AM the following day. I wanted "layered cornrows" and she nailed it (cost was $150)! I was hoping for that but it was totally unexpected that I was able to get an appointment time that early. This was only the second time that I've had my hair braided professionally, and going forward she's my new stylist for hair braiding. She's fantastic! I will say, there was a few set backs but she made up for it by being friendly, courteous, and professional. My appointment was at 9 AM, and she started on time. She began by washing and drying my hair (she asked if I needed it washed and I said, "yes"). I think she's a licensed cosmetologist because, she washed my hair like she is, LOL! She was also gentle while braiding my hair. It wasn't too tight, or hurt. In fact, she and her assistant were so gentle I actually kept falling asleep as they worked because, it relaxed me so much. When she was done, she didn't just dip my hair in the hot water. She dipped it multiple times, then she put moose on it tied my hair with a scarf to blow dry it, then sprayed holding spray, and oil on it. At the beginning, she had to stop working on my hair to finish another lady's hair. That took about 45 minutes. At first I was getting a little heated, but she explained later that there was someone that was supposed to do that lady's hair, and the lady never showed up and when she called her she didn't answer. So the lady that was there doing the braiding had to leave to go to work, and she normally works in the shop every other Saturday. They worked together to knock her client's hair out. Also the lady that stood her up was supposed to help her with my hair as well, and since she didn't show she had another lady come in, and they did their thing. She made up for that by being quick, friendly, courteous, and professional! They did a phenomenal job! Even with the minor set back she did my hair in 4.5 hours (from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM). I will be going back, and yes, I recommend Olga's Hair Braiding! She's super nice and has great smile! read more
