There are many lovely options in the Black Mountain area for good meals. The comfort of tasty Latin American food draws us back! The food is so good, and the staff have always been quick to serve and relaxed/friendly. When you get off the exit go left and check out the adorable little town. Lots of boutiques and from what I can tell. This town has lots of little art stores and shops and really nice people. Come dinner time, we found this place. The menu was large and the staff very accommodating. The food was delicious. My husband and I have zero complaints about our food or experience. This was the first place I've ever been that served warm bean dip with your chips. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back. Go visit Black Mountain and show support by shopping and eating there. We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner. Sharing soup and a savory crepe is a reasonable strategy if leaving leftovers in your vehicle during the summer heat is a concern. I opt on the Vegetarian A and an app while revisiting a host of other life choices. bowl of street corn burried under about an ephah measure of dried grated cheese arrives before my fresh black slightly bitter coffee... the corn is a little sweet for my taste and citrus forward rather than chiles but otherwise inoffensive. my plate arrives screaming hot so I don't dare even wag a finger at it, I use the rolled flatware to nudge it around on the table instead and ask for a refill on the coffee... beans and rice represent well but I could stand some chile-warmth here too. bean taco is mostly fun, a little soft from hanging out next to the rice but it eats pretty good. the cheese burrito is sweeter than hotter but nothing to complain about and agreeable as a counterpoint to one last cup of coffee :-) all totaled I'm not going out of my way to get here but I'm not running away either AND it rates very well with the locals who have been coming and going with take out the whole time. We were out in Asheville, randomly started craving Mexican food, and decided to give La Rumba a try. I'm SO glad we did because everything was genuinely incredible. The food was absolutely sensational. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor, fresh, and just ridiculously good. We kept trying each other's food and basically saying "oh my god" after every bite. Even the chips, salsa, queso, and guac had us hooked before our actual food came out. And the drinks!!! SO good. Dangerous in the best possible way. What really took the experience over the top though, was the service. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming, and you could tell they cared that we were having a great experience. Great food is one thing, but when the service matches it, that's what makes a restaurant memorable.
