O my gosh.. scary!! I am going up 301 and see this huge sign, Antiques and whip off the road. When I walked in the door there was a heavy stench of cigarette smoke and I hear "How you doing" and I turned around and the owner was smoking a cigarette. Umm, there is a law about not smoking in businesses.... Any way I wandered around the store and the owner followed all the way around the store and chewed my ear off. There are only two things in this shop, glass (lots of kero lamps or Gone With the Wind lamps) and clocks. If you buy anything from this place you are going to have to clean off years of tar and nicotine off of your purchase. Worst part was I was reeking of cigs for about an hour after leaving the store. Awesome awesome collection of truly antique glass. Many pieces had no prices and he wasn't forthcoming with prices. The prices that were on the items we're stuck in the past pre-recession. antiques took a hit just like the economy. No true deals for making a purchase of several items. Then he tells me you've wasted my time in getting all these things out to show you after he tells me he does not accept credit cards. Looks around and follows you smoking a cigarette it's pretty horrific. However I stayed to browse because he truly does have beautiful antiques in there. I ended up making no purchases. read more

What a shame! This shop has a great collection of converted gas lamps. I was ready to purchase 3 lamps and spend over $1000. Then the owner says something racist. I am a white middle-aged man so I guess the owner thought we were of the same mindset. I don't know if I have ever been so repulsed by someone's behavior. Considering this was a merchant, he obviously has no concept of the importance of keeping his bigoted opinions to himself. He is entitled to be a racist. However, I refuse to spend my money in a place like this. He will not profit from me. Maybe he is crazy and needs some serious medication and professional help. If you want to teach him a lesson, go to the shop, select several items and bait him. Say something that will entice him to say something racist and then say "I will not buy anything from a racist". It likely won't change his mind but it can't hurt. I pity this man and will pray for him. read more

I see I'm not alone in my reaction to this shop and its owner. Yes, the shop is full of tons of antique clocks and glassware, but upon entering the store my first impression was the reeking odor of cigarettes and the gloom. I only wish the other customer had stayed longer and kept the owner busy. No such luck! I was holding a lovely green vase when he accosted me, telling me he didn't like green. So I shouldn't buy his lovely vase? When I opined on the slow sales for antiques, he replied, "It's Obama's fault." I know the President has been blamed for many things but never the poor sales in antiques! Then, he launched into a promotion for a specific Presidential candidate and the bad-mouthing of another. I'd "had it" at that point, placed the vase back on the shelf, announced "You've just lost a sale," and marched out of the store. People are entitled to their opinions, but customers should not be forced to listen to them. read more
