They also buy good quality used books and games and so on, and when we dropped ours off, they accepted everything. I could spend hours here, looking at all the different books, and of course, the really awesome Lego bin which my kiddo absolutely adores. We've already been twice and we will definitely be back. I found some great used books for work that were excellent value. If you need books, take a peek here first so you can save a couple dollars!

2nd & Charles in Hampton is one of my favorite "happy accidents" in the area. If you love books,…read moregames, records, or just browsing something that feels genuinely fun instead of generic, this place delivers every time. It's one of those shops where you can wander for way longer than you planned and still feel like you got something out of the trip. The selection is solid and eclectic. They've got new and used books across genres, a great vinyl section that actually changes often enough to make repeat visits worth it, and a lot of tabletop games and collectibles that aren't shoved into a corner. Everything is easy to flip through, and it doesn't feel like sensory overload. Staff are friendly and actually seem to know (or want to help you find) what you're looking for, which is something I don't take for granted. No blank stares or "I guess?" answers when I ask about a genre or game system. What I love most is that it doesn't feel like a chain store experience. It feels local, personal, and like a place that rewards curiosity. Whether I'm picking up a book I've had my eye on, discovering an album I forgot I wanted, or grabbing something neat for someone else, I always leave feeling like it was time well spent. If you're the kind of person who likes real browsing not the "hit checkout immediately" vibe this store is absolutely worth a stop. I'll definitely be back. My kid could stay there all day and be happy but I would be broke so we keep it to a time limit. Be careful!

Went in 5/27/25 to trade in some collectible figures for a PS2 I was looking at, after ab 30 minutes of waiting for an appraisal the staff comes back and says my figure is worth 192 on a trade for IN STORE CREDIT (w/ 20% added for trade in Tuesday's) not knowing the true value of what I had at the time, I accepted the trade and ended up buying a PS2, memory card, warranty, and 2 PS2 games as well which ended up costing me ~300 in total; despite having a figure worth 4-500 I was given a fraction of what it was actually worth and ended up OWING them money. They then claimed that I need to remember that "they are a small business so ‍" What VGH failed to realize is that I had NO issue trading the item in to them since WITH the money I got from the trade I was going to immediately spend it back at the store meaning they would only stand to have made money on our transaction. The issue I have is VGH pulling an underhanded move like this then turning around allowing me to then spend more of my money in store (when my trade-in value was never met in the first place). TLDR: VGH lost a potential returning customer who would have given significantly more money to this company in time than what they got by cheating me out a SINGLE collectible figure. EDIT: I was also given a 3rd party PS2 controller when I bought my PS2 which is a laughable business practice.

Everything appeared fine since I got the replacement, until I just opened it up post-warranty for cleaning and to check integrity of heatsink paste.... The replacement console they gave me was FULL of dead roaches and their feces, dust, and the av port was rusted. I keep my consoles in a humidity-controlled room, the rust came with the console, so did the dead roaches. I don't know how that passed any qa, or the original defective console for that matter. The prices are cheap, but going somewhere else would be advised. This place has gone downhill bad.
