The place to be on a Friday night! Mark is the best bar tender ever! They were cash only the last couple of times we were there.

Babes - How can you go wrong in a bar with mixed drinks that come with bendy straws?

First off... CASH ONLY, there is an ATM onsite. My 'yes do i recommend this place' is contingent on…read morea few factors. This place is pretty old school inside so with that in mind dont get all dressed up to come here and dance. Yep you'll sit on some cracked vinyl seats but guess what you'll have some cheap drinks and interesting conversations. The interior is split where you have the bar and a handful of tall tables with 6 seats a piece and then a few smaller tables with 4 seats. The other side separated by a lil wall has some gambling games and pool tables. That side also has the sound system and can get a little rowdy depending on the time of day. I have come here on a few occasions at different times of the day to get somewhat of a pulse. To me it seemed to be busy right around the 3 to 4pm time but not the rowdy group playing pool. Just older folk talking about the day or tall tales! Around 7pm you could either walk in to only 4 people being here or groups going at it on the pool tables. Whatever your poison this place is pretty chill i would say 75% of the time. The bartenders always seem to be busting their butts running the bar and keno machine. I will certainly be back!

I just so happened to see a post on OFL about their upcoming special for roast pork, dumplings, and…read moresauerkraut and made an impulsive decision to have lunch here. Back story...I'm Vietnamese but I have come to LOVE this Czech dish due to my husband's family making it one a year on Thanksgiving instead of the normal line up. I could probably eat this every day...ehh, maybe once a week. And because it's such a niche dish and not commonly available, I will seek it out if it turns up. Such was the case here. I've never heard of Donohue's prior to this nor am I entirely familiar with all the great places in South Omaha. The building was unassuming and a bit darker lit, but you could tell it was a place where "regulars" hang- as evidenced by the waitress asking us if we needed menus (we did). The plate came within 5 minutes of ordering and it took about the same amount of time for me to devour it. The dumplings were delicious and the pork was some of the most tender, flavorful I have ever had. I think the gravy could have use a tad more salt (and I never add extra salt to anything) and I would've like the sauerkraut to be a bit more tart, but I understand that's a personal preference. The price was fair- I think maybe $11.99?, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little more to get a little more. Excited to come back next month when they have this special again!

We all arrived at different times, and since it's a seat-yourself kind of place, we found a few large tables in the back that worked perfectly for our group. We were greeted quickly, and drink orders were taken right away. I went with a Diet Coke, which hit the spot. After giving our chatty group a few minutes to browse the menu, our server came back to take orders. I decided on the Cornhusker Chicken Sandwich with a side of honey mustard and extra-crispy tots. Around the table, there was a nice mix of burgers, melts, and wings. There is truly something for everyone. The food came out fast, hot, and fresh. My sandwich was so good. It was one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. I skipped the shaved ham, and honestly, I didn't miss it at all. The flavors stood perfectly on their own. Everyone at the table seemed to love their meals, and the conversation flowed easily as we laughed and reminisced. Our server did an excellent job keeping drinks topped off and plates cleared without ever making us feel rushed. Whether you're stopping in with a small group or a big crowd, DJ's Dugout knows how to make everyone feel welcome. Great food, great service, and a great time!
