This course routinely makes it onto top ten lists for the best public courses on Cape Cod for good reason. Super pretty course, super walkable, super friendly staff, always a pleasure.

The dreaded tree in the 18th fairway!

Played it 2 years in a row and never disappoints. Enjoyable layout for all types of golfers. Don't miss this green garden of Eden.

Hidden treasure on the Cape. This is one of the best courses you'll play on Cape Cod.

Our group of sixteen players recently played Sandwich Hollows Golf Club, and while the course…read moreitself has some potential, the experience was marred by some of the rudest and most unprofessional staff behavior I've encountered at any golf facility. The parking lot was nearly empty when we arrived -- maybe 25 cars of which probably 10 were from the folks in our group -- and even when we finished, the number of cars had only about doubled. We rarely saw anyone in front of or behind us, even though we had four foursomes playing in an outing with consecutive tee times. In other words, the course was far from busy. The course layout is challenging -- very hilly, with several blind shots that naturally slow down the pace of play. Course conditions were acceptable overall, though a number of tee boxes were in terrible shape and clearly neglected. Still, we came to enjoy the day and make the best of it. So imagine our surprise when, at the turn, the starter decided to send a single player out directly in front of our group, forcing us to wait. That decision alone made little sense, but we were still patient and polite about it. That single player later realized he was in the middle of our foursomes who were having a golf outing and so he very cordially headed back to the clubhouse. And then, while we were still playing our final hole, someone from the Pro Shop actually came out to the course to make a sarcastic comment -- asking if we had "gotten lost" -- implying that we were playing too slowly. Again, there was hardly anyone on the course. The arrogance and lack of basic courtesy was jaw-dropping. Things went downhill fast after we finished our round. When we returned our golf cart, we parked it in the same general area as several others that had been returned before ours. Moments later, the person running the Pro Shop stormed outside and began loudly berating us because we hadn't parked the cart in the exact "designated" spot they apparently had in mind (which was just a few feet away from where we had parked it). There was no reason for this outburst from that Pro Shop employee. The confrontation escalated quickly into a shouting match, turning what had been a nice day into an uncomfortable and embarrassing scene. It's hard to understand how a public golf course can treat paying customers with such disrespect. We weren't loud, rude, or disruptive -- we were just trying to enjoy a casual outing on the golf course. Instead, we were made to feel very unwelcome by their staff. Until the management at Sandwich Hollows completely rethinks how they treat their guests, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are dozens of other courses on Cape Cod that understand how to run a golf facility and treat golfers with the respect they deserve. This one clearly does not.

We used every trick we could think of to speed up play for the groups behind d us( anything inside 3ft was good..one minute for a lost ball..we even joined up with a twosome at the 12th. The man yelled and cursed at him then threatend our group. (" dont make me tell you again ") and drove off. So we played for 18 and played17. We went to complain and the pro shop was " locked". It is a quaint little village in Barnstable, MA with heaps of "old money" and traditional Cape Cod charm. Although I have lived my entire life in Massachusetts, I had never heard of, let alone stepped foot in Osterville until last weekend when I worked at a wedding at Oyster Harbors Club; a private, members only club. Let me preface this review by saying that it is based solely on my experience as an outside vendor working at the club - not as a member or guest. I work as an assistant for a boutique event planning and consultation firm, and we recently coordinated a wedding reception held at this venue. The club itself is beautiful - tall ceilings, crown molding, beautiful carpets and hardwood floors, a large ballroom, a fabulous patio with gorgeous lawns and water views... even the bathrooms were gorgeous! It was easy to see why the couple fell in love with this venue. The bride's family had a close friend who was a member and offered to sponsor the couple (non-members) so they could have their wedding there. It was apparent that the catering staff and management was not accustomed to working with outside coordinators, but overall, things went smoothly. Here's my biggest complaint about this venue: During a wedding, vendors (wedding coordinators, assistants, DJ's, band members, etc.) are offered dinner. Vendors typically work a 10-15 hour day for a wedding and don't have another opportunity to eat, so many of them actually require a meal in their contracts; it is considered standard practice in the industry. They are usually fed whatever meal the guests receive, or a suitable, albeit less expensive alternative consisting of a protein, vegetable and starch. The hosts of the wedding are charged for each vendor meal that is ordered. That being said, my colleagues and I sat down to have our meal during this wedding and were completely shocked when we were offered a lunch-sized portion chicken Caesar salad! We weren't even given bread or water to accompany the meal! Normally, I would not complain but since we coordinated the wedding, we were well aware of how much money the bride and groom paid for each vendor meal... and a chicken Caesar salad was simply unacceptable for the price they were charged. While I would not consider myself an "expert" in the food service industry, but I have worked for a number of higher end restaurants, yacht clubs and catering companies in Boston and Martha's Vineyard over the last 10 years. Never in my experience as an assistant or even as a server was I ever given salad to sustain me through a 12 hour workday. I sincerely hope that Oyster Harbors Club does not make this practice routine, and I urge those who plan to hold an event at this venue to request a detailed cost breakdown for the guest and vendor meals from management.

Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.

In Sweet Pea, the house Cleaning people were a little bit weird but they did keep things immaculate in the space. And Mother Goose there seem to be never ending problems with the house so we often had somebody fixing the air conditioner. Somebody fixing the upstairs toilet and somebody fixing whatever else was not working around the place. It didn't feel great to have maintenance people around as you're getting your hair and makeup done for a wedding. Did not feel chill bridal time at all. They speak very highly of their food, but they didn't have anything off of their menu that really impressed me. I tried the fresh cod, scallops, apple dessert, and Wagyu steak. Brandon and Angel are a total headache to deal with. We requested to have the gym open early for the day of my cousins wedding. Angel said yes to having the gym opened at 4:45am in the morning before the wedding. I was there waiting -Didn't happen. This pushed back my whole schedule on the wedding day. We asked to pay for the Mother Goose house as a wedding gift to the bride and groom - also didn't happen. I had to discuss the issue with Brandon. No discount no offers of any kind- mind you 3 nights is about 10K. Not cool at all. The wedding planner also seemed to have no idea what was going on with decisions, when speeches were going to be and where to set up the podium for the efficient. The main staff you speak with don't really seem to care and frankly just aren't the type of service you look for in a luxury resort . I'm an extensive traveler and would strongly recommend not to revisit this place. We also got coffee at Sill and couldn't find any place to sit down to drink our coffee and have a pastry. We even asked the host where we could sit and it was outside on wet chairs or in the lobby. The dining room was totally empty and asked if we could sit there and was denied. Also there isn't enough parking for guests. The working driving around on golf carts talking on their cell phones also felt a little scary. The Wequassett staff made a bad atmosphere for the guests paying a lot of money. It felt very unfair between the gym not being open on time to the disorganization of the wedding timeline to getting the bills confused.
