Rating not for amenities (no sauna, pool etc.), but for having a clean room at a good price. TV and wifi of course. Sound machine (ocean, river and other background sounds) provided not needed as we were there 'off season'. I suppose the traffic noise from US101 ,in the summer, could be a bother but things slow down at night. Pleasant stay here. I scheduled a quick trip to play some golf and thought I'd stay one night in Florence. Old Town Inn kept appearing in my Google search. I went to website, direct and they suggested I phone in to get an even better rate. I saved $15 by calling in. Rate $146 (incl. tax) - Found hotel easily off 101, finding the turn in to park came up a little quick, so had to turn around. There was plenty of parking and I was greeted by Kelly, who remembered my phone call. I requested a couple extra coffee packets and Kelly easily handed me a two. I noticed a couple hard working fellas among the property, rushing about with supplies to make sure rooms were stocked. Room was second floor and peaceful. They had the basic amenities. I liked it here. Accessing Downtown was easy, using the map and verbal instructions from Kelly. Nice to get a bite and beer without driving and/or struggling to park on the main road (Bay Street). Room was super clean and I adored the little flower fan, created with the toilet tissue. No little snacks in the morning due to COVID. I had read they offered donuts, but not anymore. read more

We stayed at the Old Town Inn several years ago and had a pleasant experience. The rooms were clean and the location was good. Wyndham recently took over this property. Based on our prior experience, and the acquisition, we booked two rooms for two nights at this hotel for ourselves and my sister and her husband. We arrived on Friday, July 5th around 3 and were initially assigned a room upstairs. Since some of our party couldn't carry their bags up the stairs, we requested rooms on the first floor, and the hotel accommodated our request. However, when our rooms were ready, I found ours to be unacceptable. The bathroom door had a large hole which looked like someone punched it, holes in the wall were present where shelves were missing from the wall (shelves were in other rooms), and some of the wood was falling off the furniture with shreds of wood were in the carpet. Additionally, unlike other rooms, there were no window screens on the section that could be opened. When my husband asked for a screen, we were told that out of all the rooms, ours was the only one without a screen, and they had none available to fix the issue. I went to the office to request another fan as the room was hot and uncomfortable. I also mentioned that the room was in poor condition and was told that the damage was caused by a previous guest the night before- a domestic altercation-and they hadn't had time to fix it. I can't believe any establishment would give a paying guest a room in such a state. Further, it appeared that although the hotel was fully booked, there were other rooms available. We were later told those rooms were for guests arriving at midnight, even though we were there at 3 in the afternoon. The room we had was disgusting as well as miserably stuffy and warm. I also found the pillows had a terrible odor and I woke up very itchy the next morning, and subsequently found a few hairs in the bed that were not ours. Being that there were not other rooms or hotels available in town, we were stuck here. On Saturday afternoon, the day before our early morning departure, I went back to the office to complain again and expressed my displeasure with the entire situation. The two staff members were apologetic, provided a set of pillowcases and then miraculously found a screen for our window that they took from another room. Although they were apologetic, it really didn't matter at this point. This hotel should be ashamed of itself, and I would never recommend it to anyone. It is a total disgrace. read more

Room did not have AC, just a fan. We were unable you leave our window open at night due to it being on the ground level with people passing by. It probably wouldn't have done any good because the light blocking blinds were too think for the air to cone in. Place was too hot for us to stay here again. We were in need of a room on NYE and were completely unfamiliar with the area. What is one to do? Tripadvisor to the rescue. This place came up being the highest rated in the town and had several positive review. Booked! Lucky we did book, just a few hours earlier because by the time we got there, there weren't any other vacancies. The concierge was very friendly and offered up lots of suggestions for a night on the town. They were all just what we were looking for. On top of that, there were fresh cookies at the desk. The rooms are your standard hotel/motel style rooms: Double beds. tv, full bath. The nice surprises were the face makeup remover wipes, crab-shaped hand towels, microwave, fridge, and hairdryer. The only downside was that the stairs were kind of slippery and felt a bit unsafe with the freezing conditions. Not a big deal, we lived. read more

The room was a double queen - very clean, comfy bed and fresh linens, lots of TV channels, great wifi. I called to see if I had a room for Rhody weekend. I've had a room there for over the last 20 years. Heather said she wasn't in charge and the manager Amanda will be back Monday. I said I'll call back Monday. Only to have Heather call me back in 5 minutes later. They said I don't have a room. The reason I was yelling and cussing because there were no picnic tables. And not to come back again or check next year if I could be put on a waiting list. They started a waiting last year because someone confirmed there room and it was canceled they were the ones that yelled and cussed at them.That is just crazy. Everyone knows I always bring my own chair with side table. Because I have a bad back and leg I can't get in or out of the picnic tables. Now let's see if this get posted or the manager or owner calls me. Until now I've always had a good time every year with no complaints. read more

Great price, great location, great staff, and a great room. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room appeared recently remodeled and the bed was very comfortable. There was lots of space in the room and the chair and ottoman were a nice addition! The only thing that wasn't my favorite were the very fluffy pillows (and to be honest, I didn't call down to the desk to see if we could switch them so it's likely my own fault). The desk help (young man with long blond hair) is very unprofessional, waited almost 30 minutes why he told the woman if front of me his life story about missing fishing in Virginia, and on and on. She was not interested, just wanted a room like I did and the two people behind me. We all left based on his inability to do his job in a timely manner. And to think we almost stayed in Coos Bay! We found this cute place on tripadvisor while driving up the coast yesterday and it was a great find. The clerk who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. She gave us a great dinner recommendation too. Our room is very retro but retro in a good way, it's been at some point remodeled. Plenty of lighting, fridge, microwave, wifi,very clean bed linens, and comfortable beds. It's a short walk down the hill from Old Town. Make sure you have dinner at Waterfront Depot on Bay St. The continental breakfast consists of locally made donuts, coffee, and fruit. read more

Stayed just one night as we were passing thru town from San Fran on our way home to Vancouver... I stepped into the office to inquire about a vacancy and the lady at the front desk was so pleasant, she was the reason we booked our stay. The rate was average, the room was clean, the ammenties what you would expect, but the difference was how hospitable the innkeeper was. So friendly and she recommended the local restaurants and she was just lovely, sincere and kind. Even the chambermaid we met upon checking out was so friendly and nice. For such a modest property, the Old Town Inn sure has nice staff! Give them a try1 We'll sure go back again. Just one tip; did not appear to have a/c so book an upper room and keep your window open and blocked for security so the breeze can come in! Stayed one night on our way down the Oregon Coast. Wonderfully friendly staff. Clean, updated rooms. Stepping into the room, we found a nice hand written welcome note from cleaning staff. You can definitely see and feel the management's attentiveness toward their customers. The location is a bonus too. Right on the 101, the inn is a only a few minutes walk from Florence's Old Town neighborhood. Such a great find! My husband and I were on a road trip from SoCal a couple of weeks ago and booked this hotel last minute. We were pleasantly surprised especially for the price. Literally the worst place in Florence. For $185 for a night, u get a half roll of toilet paper with a view of the Recycling box one step outside ur door and the ice machine 5 ft from ur door and noisy staff upstairs cleaning at 5pm as well as dirty drinking glasses with lipstick residue. TOILET PAPER is a necessity! Can't leave a spare roll? Seriously! I had to use the towels cuz it was the middle of the night when we ran out! Also, NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!! Almost left at 2am cuz we were so hot and miserable! A family of 4 was on the Reservation and we got 2 towels to shower with. WTF??? read more

Stayed for one night after a long drive, was looking forward to a good night of rest, it was late and most of the other motels was closed or booked, the reviews looked like this would be a good place for the money, I should have moved on after receiving a poor experience with the front desk, I thought maybe he had a bad day. I was tiered and wanted to call it a night, no such luck, after entering this room, I had to remove several spiders, not a big deal until I pulled back the sheets on my bed a seen long black hairs. It was now after 9pm and I didn't want to search for another place at this time of night, so I decided to sleep on top of the sheets without any thing to cover up with except for my jacket. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep, the traffic on the main street sounded like it was in my room, the sconces light above the TV kept flickering all night even with the light switch turned off and if any of the other guest used there plumbing...you get the point. At daylight I decided to take a shower and had to take care of another spider in the shower, I took pictures of all the tub & shower caulking pealing off the tiles everywhere, but was only able to upload the hairs on the sheets. We were looking for an affordable central hotel during our stay in Florence and this seemed to fit the bill. The room was comfortable and actually pretty spacious. The bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge and microwave in the room, plus a table and chairs. And we were within walking distance of Old Town, where there were lots of great places to eat. Clean. Convenient. Friendly. What else do you want? Oh, I know, a comfortable bed! Booked our room through hotels.com based largely on user reviews and we weren't disappointed. We don't need a lot when we travel, especially for just a one night getaway. We pretty much just need a homebase location to drop our stuff and sleep. We were checked in by a friendly, helpful older fella who made a pretty good first impression. We went to our room and found it to be extremely clean and quite cozy. Thankfully, they also had an air conditioning unit / heater in the room. The last place we stayed in Florence did not. That place had a small desk fan in a box in the top of the closet with a note that the fan was for our convenience. After that experience, I'll never underestimate the value of in-room climate controls. One other tremendous upside to the Old Town Inn is its location, walking distance to Bay Street. After we dropped off our stuff, my wife and I walked down to Bay Street and enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Beachcomber Pub. After dinner, we walked back to our room with the intention of heading off to the casino to play for the evening. Thank goodness the casinos are open all night because, when we got back to our room, the bed was so comfortable that we ended up napping instead of heading out right away. It also made it a little difficult to get rolling as early as we wanted to in the morning. We were checked out the following morning by a lady that was just as friendly as the guy that checked us in. The one thing that I have to point out as a negative - which wasn't that big a deal to me but might be to you - is the lack of premium channel options on the tv. This place has cable. If you're going to be spending a lot of time in the room or staying for a number of days, that could potentially be an issue for you. Like I said, it wasn't an issue for me. All in all, we had a great stay and will likely visit the Old Town Inn the next time we stay in Florence. read more
