A dozen donuts. Some flavors I recall were coconut, plain glazed, molasses, molasses glazed, chocolate, and cinnamon sugar.

Very fresh and delicious old fashioned donuts. Go early - many flavors were sold out already by 9 to 9:30am.

The Holy Donut - Seasonal/LTO Flavor: Blueberry-Lemon cross-section ($4.75)

Valley Street

Visiting from out of town, 8:00am Saturday: no line, full selection, friendly and chill vibes…read more These donuts have a slightly chewy, dense texture that is very pleasant and not quite like any other baked good I can think of. The flavor doesn't hit you immediately but develops as you chew. A novel donut. Lemon, vanilla, and blueberry were my favorites. The whoopie pie donut tastes just like a whoopie pie, if that's your thing. I was a little disappointed in the sweet potato ginger -- I don't think I could have identified the flavors in a blind tasting, too subtle. But still tasty. Definitely recommend this spot for a different kind of donut experience.

I've Seen Better Glaze…read more Family-owned chain of donut shops that started off in a home kitchen driven with a dream and some Maine potatoes, and has turned into one of Downtown Portland's biggest foodie destinations. Holy Donut opened their first Portland location back in 2012, and they now have five locations around the state, including this DT location which is probably their busiest. The Good: *Vegan & Gluten-free offerings--but they're not synonymous! Check the fine print or ask. *Coast-to-Coast shopping options, including vending machines (we saw some at PWM). *Online ordering available for pickup. Tbh this is probably the way to get them, as you can skip the line and go straight to the back at the pickup window and just get your stuff right quick. You're welcome. *Donuts are made daily from scratch and feature seasonal and limited flavors. The Meh: *You'll most likely have to pay for parking at this DT location. *You'll also most likely encounter a large line to order from, depending on the time of day. When we walked by earlier before lunch it was HUGE, but after lunch it was down to manageable ±10 people ifo of us, and it did move pretty quick, as well. I mean, it is just donuts ffs. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to decide. The Ugly: *Pricing is a bit obscene at ±$5/ea, but it's to be expected in a extremely popular area full of tourists and cruises. *Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm very particular about donuts in general, but I found them to be very heavy and just OK. Also, the flavors could've been punchier, as I found the taste a little too muted for my liking. Conclusion: Definitely not worth a long wait or the price imo, but if you're in the area, the line is short, and you have $5 burning a hole in your pocket then I say go for it. Because, evidently, I'm in the minority judging by the popularity and reviews. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm so glad i stumbled into this quaint spot. I was in the mood of a pastry and a coffee and was able to snag a bar seat at the counter since it can get pretty packed with it being such a small space. The coffee was excellent and free refills and self serve. I went for the apple fritter which i think was as big as my head, as the wonderful woman at the counter suggested it. This pastry was the absolute best apple fritter i have ever had. I don't expect something so large and from a vietnamese bakery to be so amazing since i don't correlate apple fritters with Vietnamese food. But i will from now on!!! Perfect crispy glazed exterior and when I say a pillowy inside i mean it was the most softest bread i've ever had. I could only eat part of it and then i took the rest home and air fried it to heat it up and it was just as good if not better!!! I would also love to give a shout out to the hospitality and service. The wonderful woman working the front is extremely well organized and so sweet to everyone. The folks working in the back even come out to greet you when they get a chance! I loved how cozy and quaint it was and will definitely come back for some classic Vietnamese dishes the next time i am in the area! A must try!!

My personal favorite is the apple fritter, it seriously never EVER disappoints. If you're on the hungrier side you have to try their omelets or Bun Tuoi. If it's a nice day I would recommend taking the time to enjoy the food on their outdoor patio, it's beautiful, surrounded by greenery with views of the harbor.

You can even set up a tea party here! So great! What a wonderful place to come on a weekend after shopping. Would be great for a birthday brunch, they even have table top games. It's run by a family, and it really had the ambience of being in someone's home. I love this place. Service was quick too! And the goodies were served on a medley of precious flowered mismatch plates!

As I mentioned, I came here for a shake. I got a large peanut butter shake, with vanilla ice cream. It is made with real milk, and real ice cream, and blended right in front of you. The only downside, is that it was a little thin. But, the flavors were there. And the large size is perfect for the price point. I stated I came here just for a shake. Well, they also have donuts. Although it was the afternoon, I took 2. A Boston Cream donut and a sugar chocolate cake donut. I at these during my drive back to Boston. The sugar chocolate was pretty good. Still somewhat fresh. And it is what you would expect from a cake donut. The sugar added a nice touch. The Boston Cream was fresh as well. But, the filling's flavor was off. You could taste the standard cream filling, but something just didn't taste right. Oh well, I devoured it. Now, were they homemade? I have no idea. Both owners were assisting and seemed to be very nice. Im thinking this is another local favorite, as the owner knew a lot of customers that came in.
