Espresso Creme & Cider Glazed donuts, at Ruckus Donuts in Rockland, ME.
    Tom D.

Ah, not as enamored with Ruckus Donuts as much as most of my fellow Yelpers. We ordered half a dozen this morning and consumed a few at a nearby park soon afterwards. Honestly, they "look great", but they are all the same basic donut, the only differences are the various toppings and glazes they put on top. For a standard Glazed style donut, that's fine, but for a Boston Creme, it becomes a sloppy mess (the custard just oozes out of the hole as soon as you pick it up, there's nothing to prevent that from happening). And the donuts themselves were oily, a small squeeze revels this. My wife ended up having stomach discomfort later in the day. Sorry, these are not 5 Star donuts, not even close in my book. Ruckus Donuts is a weak 3 Star rating, IMO. P.S. they tasted worse the next morning also.

One of the best donuts I ever had! Brioche style donuts. So many flavors to try. To nice to eat. We had the Boston Cream. The cream is so light. The place is small. The owner is very friendly and told us how he started his business and how he makes the donuts.

"Holy donuts, Batman! This place is incredible!" Ricky's Donuts specializes in homemade ring -shaped donuts. For those with fillings, they fill in the center hole. Fresh and delicious! My Maple Glaze donut was made from organic, locally sourced maple syrup. The donut was light, airy and possibly the best tasting donut I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Great coffee too! The folks behind the counter were working on donut orders, but were nice enough to pause for some quick conversation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Absolutely amazing donuts you will ever have !

The Donuts were the best ever ! Absolutely amazing. I ordered 6 ahead of time. I picked them up this past Saturday. I honestly have never tried something so good ! I ordered 6 different ent kinds and they were all awesome. Absolutely awesome! The order and his wait staff were fantastic. I was a firefighter and I will tell you out of all the donuts I have had in my life those where there best ever. Absolutely amazing and 5 stars 100 percent !

These donuts are delicious! The brioche style donuts have such a fluffy texture. They're decadent but light; such a treat! All the flavors I've tried have been delicious, most especially the Boston Creme. The chocolate topping has great chocolate flavor without being too sweet and the crème filling is custardy and creamy but not at all goopy. The people are very nice and helpful too, which is great. I arrived an hour and half before closing on a weekday and there were nine donuts left to choose from, so just forewarning they do sell out early!

Stopped here for a donut on our way from Camden to Portland and boy do we recommend making a special stop here. When we got here around 10 AM most of the donuts had sold out and we understand why. It was so delicious! The donut has a light fluffy texture and is HUGE! We got the Caramel crunch and the Caramel had a great flavor to it. Highly recommend!

    Donuts left at 10am!

Are these some of the best donuts in Maine? Yeah, I think so. And I've been telling everyone I know that. The donuts are fluffy, but strong enough to withhold the incredibly generous toppings and glazes. My partner had a lemon poppy seed and it was GLAZED (at some places a glaze is a just suggestion, and then you're left with a mouthful of dry, flavorless donut... that's not the case here). It had that punchy lemon flavor that was perfect for a hot day. I had the rhubarb crisp and, from the first to the last bite, with every mouthful I literally said, "This is one of the best things I've eaten in years." It was just so perfectly summery. Like the best rhubarb pie/rhubarb crisp I've ever had, but on a donut. I should have bought two. I know better for next time. They have some classic donut options (boston creme, emoji, cinnamon sugar) that are always available, but the rhubarb crisp (for example) is part of their seasonal menu. I've seen they do a similar donut with apple compote in the autumn... It's not weird to drive two hours for donuts, right? Asking for a friend. Personally, the prices don't bother me. They're pretty big donuts, and also... Lovebirds in Kittery and Holy Donut in Portland are charging just as much. I think the biggest issue here is... they sell out, and they sell out fast. "Especially days that start with S," the owner told me. So if it's like 10am on a weekday, sure, you *might* get the flavor you want. I'd strongly suggest preordering. (SIDE NOTE: Their donuts are vegetarian friendly! eg not fried in lard)

If you are looking for a light & fluffy, full of flavor donut to satisfy your craving this is the place! I arrived at 7:25, second in line, and by the time 7:30 opening rolled around the line was 30 people long. Lines tell you food is good! The ambiance of the establishment was no frills but very nice inside with very nice owners/employees. They had donuts displayed in the case, prices on the side wall, and a drink cooler on the side with various cold beverages. I went on a Sunday, when they had the special Sunday breakfast pudding. This was a custardy savory dish. The bacon and cheese were perfect in it. For donuts I ordered the caramel crunch, blueberry lemonade, peach crisp, homer and a classic. All very tasty and fluffy.

Apple crumb pie and tiramisu! Fabulous!

Absolutely the best donut ever Tiramisu! The owner was so great and friendly. I wish we lived there. Best experience ever!

We knew we'd be hiking all day (and had a heavy dinner planned) so we stopped at Earth and Flow to pick up some lighter bites. This was around 10am on a Thursday, and we were the only customers. It took about 45 minutes to get our food (no other customers ever came in; it didn't appear they were making any to-go orders). There were two employees that day, one who was making our order and one who was on her phone. We got: 1. Tara's Peanut Butter Heaven smoothie (banana, peanut butter, chocolate, almond milk) and the Tropical Storm smoothie (mango, pineapple, strawberry, orange juice, coconut milk, almond milk): I don't know how this is possible - maybe they were made in the same blender? - but these tasted identical. They were also liquidy. Personally, I prefer my smoothies so thick it's hard to suck through a straw. 2. the Thai wrap (almond-ginger pate, lettuce, mango, red pepper, cabbage, basil, mint, cilantro, ginger almond dipping sauce): this was okay - there was *a lot* of mint stems - but the ginger almond dipping sauce tasted purely of soy sauce - way, way too salty for me. 3. the Sun Tuna wrap (tuna salad made from sunflower seeds, not fish, combined with lemon, Bragg's amino acids, celery, pickles, and romaine lettuce): my favorite of the three! Such a unique take on a vegan tuna, but the celery was literally long uncut stalks. 4. the Sante Fe wrap (cashews, lemon, parsley, cayenne pepper, vegan mayonnaise, black beans and avocado): my partner's favorite of the three, but I found it bland, also there was no avocado and LOTS of romaine... which isn't an ingredient in this wrap. ^ I appreciated that all three wraps came on a bed of lettuce, because the wrap itself was *so* stiff and gummy in texture that we ended up dumping the interior onto the greens and eating it salad style. 5. Earthy Delights (4 Medjool dates stuffed with almond butter, cardamom, and ginger): the BEST thing we got were these stuffed dates. The combination of the rich almond butter, earthy cardamom, and spicy ginger were unlike anything I've had in recent memory. Do not miss out on these! For me, this missed the mark. But it's fantastic that an option like this exists in Rockland.

The secret was the breading: chick pea flour instead of the cornmeal I always use. Then I enjoyed the fresh, local, rare tuna--perfect! My husband had an elaborate beet salad, then steak. This year made us realize that this is our last year. It was our 25th and we were looking forward to it. It started with the hostess who was annoyed that we showed up 7 minutes early for our reservation and told us they were running on time and to take a walk in the garden and come back at the exact time of our reservation. Which we did. We were seated by the manager who seemed impatient. He handed us the menus and walked off. A detail I didn't consider until I noticed that the other manger handed the menus and went over some drink specials and menu specials. Our server was nice in the beginning although seemingly distracted. We found out a little later they had a wedding party upstairs and the kitchen was behind. We didn't mind because we were there for the experience as much as the food. However as the night rolled on and things took longer and longer, the staff seemed more and more annoyed with us for ordering our meal. By the end of the meal, our server asked if we wanted a cheese or dessert service and seemed very annoyed when we said yes. At this point we were 2 1/2 hours in and they wanted us out. However, we were still there because it had taken so long for our service and food. In the end we split a strawberry shortcake, which was very good, I had a coffee, and we got out of there. They wanted us out and we didn't want to stay any more. What is sad is we have been celebrating our anniversary for 20 years there as often as we can and this, our 25th was the worse experience we have ever had and we won't return. It broke our hearts.
